The Patriots lost their first game in seemingly forever; the KC Chiefs won'without MVP QB Patrick Mahomes, and London was city that hosted the November 3rd event between the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jags. The drama will be thick in this early Sunday affair...

The Rams are coming off a bye following the trip to London to play the hapless Bengals and for McVay to take on his former protege for the first time. So far in his short tenure he is 2-0 off a bye week with 2 very solid victories...both on the road! The Rams have had a nice part of their schedule as they played a divisional murderers row losing to the 9ers and Seahaws before getting 2 of the worst teams in the league and a very nice schedule happenstance of getting themselves back on track then a week off to get a jump on preparation as well as healing.
The Steelers are a tough one to explain, and overall this team isn't going anywhere, but they sure are sticking around with some very interesting survival wins. They have gotten some fortunate bounces and occurrences that likely are not the kind that continue altogether, especially against a team that went to the Super Bowl last year, is finding its mid season stride, and off a bye....even if they get to play at Heinz. They are off a game where they got the Colts down to their 2nd (3rd?) string QB Brian Hoyer, needed a 100 yard INT return for a TD, and a terrible missed close range FG by Vinatieri to get that W. This was preceded by the Steelers lackadaisically trying to lose to the Dolphins, or at least looking this way. This was immediately preceded by jumping all over the very in the doldrums Chargers, but only surviving for that W based upon football being a timed sport.
McVay is 4-0 ATS on the road this season is 6 for his last 6 ATS on the road...and teams in such a spot as a road favorite off a bye are 19-6 the last 10 years if favored by more than a FG.
The Steelers smoke and mirror 4-4 record is impressive and while I'm not sure who gets the credit, they sure aren't an impressive offense with a bottom 5 in the league yards per play on offense, but do rank right at the top with opportunistic defense...forcing close to an average of 3 turnovers per game....however the Rams have just 1 turnover on offense over the past 3 combined games.
The Rams will have the penalty average edge, the rushing edge, probably will have Brandin Cooks back after a week off in concussion protocol, James Conner is at least in doubt for another contest, and the Rams are right at the top of the league converting nearly 50% of 3rd downs on the road this season.
Home dogs off 2 consecutive home wins as favorites are 5-14 SU and 7-12 ATS as the Steelers will be when the Rams visit town.

Take Green Bay ATS as my 6-Unit NFL Top play for Sunday. This pick falls into one my top NFL systems and I have Green Bay winning this game by 10+ points at home here Sunday as they answer the bell after getting blown out by the Chargers. Green Bay is the superior team in this matchup on both sides of the ball and they also have one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Green Bay has averaged 28 points per game and 413 yards per game at home this season averaging 6.6 yards per play. Carolina has converted just 30.8% of their 3rd downs on the road this season and that is against opponents allowing 37.7% on 3rd downs this season. Opponents have converted 43.4% on 3rd downs against Carolina on the road this season and 75% on 4th downs against them this season. Green Bay has converted 40.4% on 3rd downs this season and they have averaged 308 passing yards per game at home this season and that is against opponents who have allowed just 238 passing yards per game this season. Carolina's opponents of averaged 133 rushing yards per game against them this season and 5.5 yards per run on the road against them this season. Green Bay had a nice wake-up call last week so they will be prepared to play at home this week and take care of business against a team they should dominate. Carolina has allowed 32.3 points per game over their last 3 games and 408.7 yards per game and that is with opponents averaging 3.7 turnovers per game against them over those 3 games. Aaron Rodgers has a huge day at home here Sunday against a Carolina defense that has given up over 300 passing yards in 3 of their last 4 games against much lesser quarterbacks than they will face Sunday. Play Green Bay ATS as hopefully we are moving to 15-3 with my last 18 NFL picks if we won my NFL pick for Thursday.

4 Unit Play Take #272 Dallas -3 over Minnesota (8:20pm est):

The big talk in this one is how the Dallas Cowboys haven't played anyone this season with their lone win over a winning team coming only against the Philadelphia Eagles. The same thing though could be said about this Minnesota Vikings team as their schedule has been almost as easy as they also have just one win over an above .500 team this year, that's the same Philadelphia Eagles squad that the Cowboys have beat. One of the losses for Dallas this year was at New Orleans by just 2 points which is starting to look even more impressive as it was the closest the Saints came to losing with Teddy Bridgewater under center. A Dallas loss that left a lot of people scratching their heads was at New York against the Jets but keep in mind the Cowboys were down two starters from their vaunted offensive line in that game. All those offensive lineman have been back the last few games and the Dallas offense has looked very good with them with 37 point outings in back to back contests. The Minnesota Vikings are a great team at home but away from there it's been a totally different story and especially if they are facing a good team like they are here in this one as they are just 2-7 against the spread in their last 9 road games against winning teams. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has really struggled in this role in big primetime games and he will likely have even more pressure on himself in this one as it looks like one of his biggest weapons in Adam Thileien likely won't play due to an injury.Take Dallas minus the points.

3-Unit Play. #107. Take LA Chargers -1.5 over Oakland Raiders (Thursday @ 8:20pm est)

It is not by accident this team has turned their season around and this defense is playing phenomenal and we simply like the Chargers to keep it going here as they are indeed the playoff team and not the Raiders. Look for the Chargers to continue rocking and rolling here as this team's defense and offense are finally clicking and I think Derek Carr will end up doing what Derek Carr does and have a horrible divisional game here.



3-Unit Play. #254. Take Cleveland Browns -3 over Buffalo Bills (Sunday @ 1pm est)

I like the Browns here to finally step up and pick up a big win. After a series of several tough losses including Baker shaving off his mustache handle look for this Browns team to finally get back on track. Remember, the Bills have a great defense but their quarterback does struggle against defenses that step up and the Browns likely do that here at home after facing a couple of really tough teams. This team had to face a fantastic Denver defense, a tough New England team, Seahawks before that and Niners before that and this team went into Baltimore and won by 15 earlier this year. Look for Cleveland to end their losing streak here and get back on track.



7-Unit Play. #256. Take Tampa Bay Buccaneers -4.5 over Arizona Cardinals (Sunday @ 1pm est)

Tampa Bay nearly beat Seattle in Seattle and has faced a tough gauntlet schedule. I think this Buccs team is vastly underrated and I think Arizona is in for a big let down after the Niners game. The Buccs get them back at home in a primet situation for a huge win here as these caoches will turn the ship here after close losses to the Titans, Panthers and Saints. This is a team that beat the Rams in LA and I think the Buccaneers step up nicely at home here.



3-Unit Play. #252. Take Tennessee Titans +6 over Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday @ 1pm est)

The Titans coming off of a loss and they are a fantastic public fade here as this is a team that is playing well with Tannnehill, they vastly underperformed last game and we like the public fade here as the Chiefs come off a huge win over the Vikings and will be in a classic let down mode against an elite defense.



3-Unit Play. #266. Take Chicago Bears -2.5 over Detroit Lions (Sunday @ 1pm est)

Now or never for Mitchell as he doesn't even want the TV's on in the facility as he is taking so much criticism. I think Turbisky has one of his best games here and this defense will back him up and the Bears will carry the day as this is a small public fade to boot as well.



3-Unit Play. #258. Take NY Jets +2.5 over NY Giants (Sunday @ 1pm est)

This is a Jets team that beat the Cowboys at home and with no Ingram and with Rhett Ellison and Golden Tate as the only true receiving options with Barkley's health being in question, these are the type of games that the Jets win here and this is a beautiful public fade to boot. The Jets actually have more offensive options here and they have the elite defense.

4-Unit Play. #274. Take San Francisco 49ers -6 over Seattle Seahawks (Monday @ 8:15pm est)

The Niners always dial up something big for quality opponents such as beating the Panthers like the drum or beating the Rams and they left a lot of tricks in the bag for this game. They want to beat the Seahawks and beat them badly adn remain undefeated and it took the Seahawks overtime to beat the Bucs on a late touchdown. The point here is that the Niners have an elite coaching staff and a defensive and offensive mind that is unparalleled in the league right now and the Niners roll here.

I can understand some hesitation for this game because of the Steelers' defense, which has been resembling its old self recently. However, what should ease people's minds is that Los Angeles' defense should be able to feast on quarterback Mason Rudolph, who has been flat-out unimpressive in his starts this season. Pittsburgh's defense will be game, but because of its offense, the Rams will have multiple opportunities to put up points.

Furthermore, they're 20-7-2 ATS in primetime since 2012, including 4-1 when 'dogs of more than a field goal. If they protect the ball against an opportunistic defense (and come on, it's Russell we're talking about), they should keep this one close.

That puts the game on Kyler Murray as a passer, and he's not quite there yet for me. Tampa Bay's offense got on the same page last week and should roll against a team whose three wins came against awful teams.

On the other side of the ball, the Titans rank 26th in points per drive and 29th in percentage of drives that end in a score. They also brought Ryan Succop back from IR last week only to watch him go 0 for 3 on field goals. There are more than enough reasons to trust the Chiefs here.

Carolina is especially bad against the run, so if Green Bay can get an early lead, they should be able to stay ahead by grinding out first downs, and I'm not worried about Kyle Allen rallying for a backdoor cover.

The Cowboys defense had yet another game holding their opponent under 300 yards on Monday night, giving them five such performances on the year. I like them to get a sixth in this one while the Vikings offense has trouble slowing a balanced, elite offense.

The Giants have been having a bad year so far and they come in having lost their last five games in a row. Their two wins have come against Tampa Bay and Washington. It’s hard to believe that their defense is worst than the quarterback change they made going with Daniel Jones. As for the Jets, in last weeks loss to the Dolphins, Sam Darnold had a good game as he threw for 260 yards. That is good news for the Jets. Also, Saquon Barkley may not get going much in this one as the Jets have been rather solid against the run this year and he’s hasn’t recovered from his injury rushing for just 164 over his last three games. New York Giants needs to get its ground game going as it will take the pressure off of their young QB Jones but that’s not happening anytime soon. The Jets have been good against the run as of late as they have allowed just 78.3 ppg over their last three games. Look for Jets running back Le’Veon Bell to eat up the Giants rush defense. The Giants have allowed 129 ypg on the ground over their last three games and Bell is looking to get back on track with what he had in Pittsburgh. If the Giants don’t stop the run, then we could see Sam Darnold have a big game in this one. Darnold has some decent weapons in Robby Anderson (405 yards) and Jamison Crowder (342). Combine that with a secondary ranked 25th against the pass and the Jets should score. The Giants are 30th in yards per pass attempt allowed and 28th in yards per completion allowed. The Jets began as the favorite in this game, but the Giants are now the favorite. There’s an old wise guy betting rule here: bet the oddsmakers original favorite. They set the line correctly; it was the public that moved it. —-

Pinnacle-Tennessee + **NFL Shocker of the Year

In the most recent meeting all together, Tennessee rallied for a 22-21 win in the AFC Wild Card Game on January 6, 2018. Kansas City has battled through injuries to skill position players and now comes in as a road favorite. Tennessee has been an up and down team all season long and that’s part of the reason they’re hovering around the .500 mark on the season. The Titans had close home victories over the Chargers (23-20) and the Buccaneers (27-23) to get to the .500 mark on the season heading into last week’s contest against the Panthers. Tennessee owned a 431-370 edge in total offense and picked up 24 first downs to Carolina’s 22. As for the Chiefs running game, Kansas City has seven-run plays that have covered 20 yards. Mahomes is back under center but could easily be rusty. He hasn’t taken a hit in three weeks. Additionally, it’s not certain how well his kneecap will hold up. As a team, Tennessee has 51 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries so far this season. The Chiefs haven't run the ball with any consistency this season so it’s dependent on the passing game. On the other hand, the Chiefs have had their problems stopping opposing teams on the ground this season, much as they did in 2018. Kansas City has allowed more than 100 yards on the ground in six of their nine games this season. Tennessee has to establish the run and make life tough for the Chiefs. Kansas City's front seven has been gashed by the run regularly this season so look for Derrick Henry to move the chains. Tennessee has moved the chains via the run game a total of 34 times on the year. The Titans can certainly shut down quarterbacks. They are 7th in completion percentage allowed (62.1), tied for 18th in TD passes allowed (14) and it gets better still as they are tied for 5th in INT (8), tied for 8th in sacks (25)and finally, have the 7th passer rating allowed at (86.3). Offensively, Tennessee has found a more effective passing game of late after an inconsistent start to the season now going with Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill has mobility which helps as Kansas City is 22nd in the league in total defense by allowing 369.3 yards per game. They are 14th in yards per play allowing 5.4 yards per snap. The Chiefs have struggled punching the ball into the end zone once they drive into the red zone as they are ranked 27th in the league by converting only 45 percent of their chances overall with the road not as generous. This game will not be a shocker to smart bettors but more of a wake up call to the Chiefs moving forward.

Just like the above with FSU, Marshall lost a ton of top college talent. Toledo can put up points, and we already know the Herd don't like to play much defense. I don't think Marshall can keep up with the Rockets in this one. As the modest favorite Toledo comes through with with a winning ticket.

3-Unit Play. #704 Take Illinois State (-5) over Arkansas State (4 p.m., Sunday, November 10)
Both teams graduated very quality players, perhaps more so coming from Illinois State. But the Redbirds also brought in more reinforcements via some impact transfers who are capable of scoring. MVC's ISU is the play here. Better team from the better conference, and I think they get Arkansas State and get past the number. Chalk covers as well in this match-up.

They covered this again...and now added a full 1.5 to that spread to invite in the top team in the East? Just because Lowry is out? Van Vleet will step in just fine and Siakam is basically already entering stardom seemlessly with Kawhi gone, OG is hitting everything inside and outside, and Gasol adds a dimension to the Raps down low that allows them to slow down the points in the paint...or he should as the Lakers rank right at the top in PIP for while the Raps are right at the top at limiting opponents in PIP.
Should be a VERY intriguing game in my opinion, and the 10 points sure seems wild, I predict even with the Lakers at home as a hugely public team this will still steadily drop throughout the day and not be near 10 by tipoff!
