The Panthers defense is allowing 5.2 YPC rushing meaning Carson will be able to run the ball which makes Russell Wilson’s play action more effective plus you can expect him to get a few FD’s rushing extending drives.

This line has steamed toward the Bears in the early going, and it's gotten to a point now where I think there's value on the Packers. They're typically a great home team in this part of the year, going 21-5 straight up since 2009, with Aaron Rodgers playing a full game in just two of those five losses. The Packers defense has enough talent to limit a suddenly solid Mitchell Trubisky, and the Packers run game should provide enough production to get the score into the 20s. I think the Packers win by six or seven.

I have some worries about the Steelers offense, as they appeared not to trust Devlin Hodges attacking downfield against a bad Arizona secondary. If you're willing to self-limit your offensive game plan, a good defense like that in Buffalo will make you pay. The elite Steelers defense thrives on turnovers, but Buffalo has done a great job protecting the ball with just three giveaways in its llast eight games. Though this is in danger of being a look-ahead spot for the Bills with the Patriots on deck, I trust their coaching staff to keep the team focused and get this win.

7-Unit Play: Take 313 Texans +3 over Titans (1 p.m., Sunday, December 15)

I'm taking the points with the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon. While Baltimore may be the best team in the NFL right now, the Tennessee Titans have become one of the flavors of the month with Ryan Tannehill at QB. They've won 4 in a row since a 10-point loss to Carolina. Three of the wins came against banged-up and somewhat fading football teams and the other, a win over KC, happened despite getting out-gained 530-371 (fluke win)! The difference in the win over KC was a defensive TD after the Chiefs had crossed midfield looking to open up a double digit lead. Houston had won 4 of 5, including a big win over New England before last weekend's loss. The Texans were in a horrible NFL situation off the win over Pats, having taken on Baltimore, and playing two divisional games in the mix with this week's divisional game on tap. In fact, we went against Houston and played Denver on these pages. Let's remember that Houston also owns a win over the Chiefs -- in KC! And the win was legit considering Houston finished with a 472-309 yardage advantage at a time when many considered KC to be the best team in the league. The Texans are on a 10-2 SU run off a SU loss with Deshaun Watson at QB (averaging 28 ppg). They're 11-4 ATS as a dog or PK with Watson. And finally, Houston is on a 6-0 ATS run on the road off a home game, out-scoring their 6 opponents by an average of 27-18. I'm taking the points with the Texans on Sunday. Thanks & GL! 3-Unit Play: Take 319 Dolphins +3.5 over Giants (1 p.m., Sunday, December 15)

I'm backing the Dolphins plus the points on Sunday. NYG played hard on Monday night with the return of Eli Manning but after taking a 17-3 lead into halftime, reality set-in and the Giants' offense completely stalled, getting out-scored 20-0 the rest of the way. Drumming up the same motivation on a short week with a lameduck coach is not going to be easy this week. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are in the same locale for the second straight week, off a tough, close loss to the Jets. One thing we have seen no matter who he's played for, Ryan Fitzpatrick gets the most out of his offense. Miami is on a 7-2 ATS run with the bearded one at QB and they're a decent 3-3 SU in their last six, just a 1-point loss from a 4-2 mark. 3-Unit Play: Take 323 Jaguars +6.5 over Raiders (4:05 p.m., Sunday, December 15)

I'm taking the points with the Jaguars on Sunday. Jacksonville has been a mess the last five weeks, there's no denying it. But Oakland has been a disaster in their last three, out-scored by 83 points, or by nearly 28 ppg. They're not only a team that has dropped out of the mix in recent weeks (technically still alive for a postseason berth), but is also banged-up. The offensive line isn't healthy and the star of the offense, RB Josh Jacobs (questionable) might play but he's far from healthy. Derek Carr is back to last year's form, which means mistakes are plenty from the struggling signal caller. Carr has just 4 TDs but with 4 INTs in his last 4 games. And with Carr at QB the Raiders are 38% ATS when laying points. Oakland has a minus-108 point differential and are on the short-end of a 28.2-19.9 average final score. 3-Unit Play: Take 327 Falcons +11 over 49ers (4:25 p.m., Sunday, December 15)

I'm taking the points with the Falcons on Sunday. We have to judge the ATL Falcons by their last five games rather than the first portion of the season. They're playing extremely hard for HC Dan Quinn, a players coach, to be sure. And since his seat got warm, the Falcons are 3-2 SU, including a 26-9 win in New Orleans. Four of Atlanta's losses during their 4-9 season came by a total of 19 points with all 4 decided by one possession. At 3-2, the Falcons own the same SU record as the Niners over the last five games and the Niners are off five intense games in their last six, including back-to-back road games at Baltimore and New Orleans. They also have a divisional game next against the Rams, so to say this is a potential flat-spot is a huge understatement. We'll grab the double digits with the Falcons on Sunday. Thanks & GL! 4-Unit Play: Take 330 Cowboys +1.5 over Rams (4:25 p.m., Sunday, December 15)

I'm backing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. We've seen more than a 4-point line move in this one and Dallas was in a decent spot even before they became the underdog. The bets came in on the Rams and the line was adjusted after L.A. whipped Seattle 28-12 on SNF. We had the Rams on these pages, so we weren't surprised with the results. But that had as much to do with the situation as anything else and so does this one. The Rams are off two divisional games and a contest against the Ravens. And they have a date with the 49ers up next. They've also been in virtual must-win mode the last two weeks. As rough as things have been for Dallas, they can still win their division and if the playoffs started today, they'd be in, owning the tiebreaker over the Eagles. Dallas owns a +67 point differential, which is actually better than the Rams' (+49). The Dallas offense has gained over 400 yards in their last two games against Buffalo and Chicago. They've been a momentum team under Jason Garrett, on a 15-6 ATS run after topping 400 yards in two straight games. Finally, NFL non-favorites (dog or PK), are on a 36-14 ATS run in the second half of the season, provided they're playing .450 to .550 football and are off a SU loss as road chalk. Houston is an excellent program and Kelvin Sampson is an underrated coach. I like this team. But I don't think they are as good as this number suggests. This Cougars team has a lot of talent and athleticism. But they are still pretty young. They've lost to the only two good teams they have faced (BYU and Oregon) and they haven't blown out any of the mediocre mid-major teams they've faced, beating Rice, Texas State and UT-Arlington by eight points apiece. Are they going to beat Oklahoma State by more than eight points? I don't think so. The Cowboys should be in bounce back mode after a horrible loss to Wichita State. I think Oklahoma State will get back Isaac Likekele today and that should have a major impact on this team and this game.

2-Unit Play. Take #779 N.C. State (-2) over UNC-Greensboro (3 p.m.)
Greensboro is a fine team and they are going to be sky-high for this game. But I don't see them beating the Wolfpack. N.C. State is well coached and they have what you need to avoid upsets on the road: quality veteran guard play. Markell Johnson and C.J. Bryce are both seniors and junior Devon Daniels is in his fourth year. The Wolfpack are coming off a solid road win at Wake Forest and I think that they have the goods to get another here.

7-Unit Play. Take #792 North Carolina (-15.5) over Wofford (4 p.m.)
It has already been established that this year's North Carolina team is not nearly as good as last year's. That's fine. But they don't need to be to run Wofford out of the gym in this game. UNC is coming off back-to-back losses to legit opponents, getting demolished by Ohio State and then losing to Virginia. The Tar Heels have scored fewer than 50 points in each of those games. They've also been sitting on them for a week, having not played since Dec. 8. I don't think that this team is going to be screwing around even a little bit and Unlce Roy should give them the whip today. Last year the Heels went to Wofford in the season opener and were pushed hard before pulling away for an 11-point win. As a result, they won't take this team lightly. And now they get the return game in Chapel Hill and they should blow the Terriers out of the building. This is not the same caliber Wofford team. They lost their two best players and three starters. They also may be playing without point guard Storm Murphy, who has been battling injuries. So that would leave them without their coach and four starters from last year's team. Wofford lost by 19 at Missouri and Missouri is not good. They also lost by 19 at Butler and by 14 at South Florida. Are you telling me North Carolina can't win this game by 20+? Wofford has to face UNC and then Duke this week. So even if by some fluke they cover this spread and hang around in this game I'll go right back against them on Wednesday. I don't think it will come to that, though. I think that UNC is pissed off and motivated and they are ready to go apeshit on an overmatched opponent.

Just as last week was a big spot for the Rams, the Seahawks enter Sunday looking for a big win after their worse loss of the season. Seattle is 4-2 ATS on the road (6-1 straight up) this season and gets an ailing Carolina team with its backup QB on a downward spiral, its star RB getting bottled up and its veteran TE sidelined. It could be close in the first half, but this should be a game where the Seahawks pound Chris Carson early and use their weapons in the second half for a comfortable road win. Decent defensive test for Seattle with San Francisco coming up in two weeks.

The Packers have not looked great as of late, but I think people are putting too much stock in the Bears beating the Giants, Lions and quickly-collapsing Cowboys -- two of them in Chicago. Green Bay is at home, and while cold, it should be a snow-free day allowing Aaron Rodgers plenty of opportunity to throw the ball. Still, Aaron Jones is where I think the Packers have their greatest advantage. Definitely comfortable with Green Bay covering in this spot.

Seahawks/Panthers Over 49.5
The Seahawks are the most bet team today, but they will be without Clowney and are missing a few guys on this defense. Carolina is the most basic team in the NFL when it comes to who they use on offense. There is no other team that only uses a handful of players and now that Greg Olsen is out again it makes the list shrink even more. It would seem that with Carolina having a new coach and new offensive coordinator that the Panthers really don’t have a shot in this game, but they can run the football well with Christian McCaffrey. The Seahawks are not good at stopping the run. When you can’t stop the run that leads into cheating to stop it and then you get beat with the pass. Seattle has a lot of talent on this offense and they too can take advantage of a team that can’t stop the run either. Both teams should do enough to make this a high scoring game and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Carolina back their way into a cover. Take the Over.

Chiefs -10 over Broncos
Drew Lock has been impressive in his limited work this year, but now it is on to Arrowhead Stadium in the cold and in the snow. Lock still is a rookie QB and will be facing a pass defense that is a lot better than the Texans Pass Defense from last week. This is a tough building to play in and I can’t get over all of the ankle and knee injuries Denver has on their front seven. Kansas City should be able to control the line of scrimmage and win this game by double digits. I don’t think this will be a 30 point blowout, but if KC gets up early this is just not a Denver team that can get back into a football game. It’s important for Andy Reid to get his team to start fast today. I think we are seeing a little fool’s gold out of the Broncos the last few weeks, but luckily for them they might have struck gold with their future QB being Drew Lock. Take the Chiefs.

The weather in this game calls for high winds which really makes you mad because it is not often you see two secondary’s with so many inexperienced players in them in the NFL. I still have to roll the dice here in this spot. This is the Eli Manning farewell tour. This could be Manning’s last home game in NY so today is his day. He still has a great arm and certainly is good enough to beat this Dolphins Secondary. The Giants have the better running game and being at home in colder weather should be an advantage against Miami today. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a competitor and this Dolphins Offense has not thrown in the towel as they are playing hard. I don’t think it will be enough to win, but they will help our high score. This is a good spot to go side and total. Take the Giants and the Over.

Browns/Cardinals Over 49
The Cardinals are the worst pass defense in the NFL and a lot of guys up front on defense are on IR. This team just dealt the veteran Terrell Suggs so now all you have to do is double or triple team Chandler Jones and you are good to go. Cleveland loves playing bad teams and will put up points against the bottom feeders in the NFL. Arizona has been impressive this year on offense. Kyler Murray has come back down to earth a little bit over the past few weeks, but will also be able to take advantage of a Browns Defense with no pass rushers today. This should be a great battle between the #1 pick in 2018 and the #1 pick in 2019. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray are the future QB’s in this league and should go toe to toe lighting up the scoreboard. Take the Over.

The Dallas Cowboys have all the talent in the world, but for some reason have not put it all together. In comes the hot LA Rams who all of a sudden have Todd Gurley playing well again, but there is something that has been overlooked. This Rams Offensive Line is not at full strength and it has no depth. At home you might be able to get away with it, but not on the road. It will be Dallas that uses their excellent offensive line that will be controlling the line of scrimmage. Jared Goff is just not a QB that I trust in big road games. Home field is so crucial in a game like this. Take the Cowboys.

Let's keep it simple here and roll with the better team. The Titans lost to this team by 2 touchdowns the last time they played but they did split last year. Look the Titans rolled into Oakland and beat a team that desperately needed to win that game and they dropped 40 points on them. Tannehill is as sharp as can be right now and Henry is running all over folks and the Titans are a better version of the game the Broncos play. The Titans have an even better running game, better coaching staff and as good of a defense as the Broncos and I think this sets up for a bad situation for the Texans. This is a Titan team that beat the Chiefs by 3, beat the Colts by 2 touchdowns on the road and just doubled up Oakland by 21 points. I like how Tennessee is playing right now and I think they get it done as the Texans were beat by 34 by the Ravens and without a doubt the Titans can duplicate some of what they did.
