I'm taking the points with Texas on Tuesday night. This one has a chance to be a classic letdown spot. Utah made it to the Pac-12 championship with a chance to capture a playoff appearance or an appearance in the Rose Bowl. But an ugly performance in the loss to Oregon has them settling for the Alamo Bowl. Utah HC Kyle Whittingham has had success in bowl games but Texas HC Tom Herman is 3-0 SU/ATS, winning all 3 outright as an underdog. I know that everyone will be quick to point out that the PAC 12 has not had a good record in the Bowl Games recently but that didn't bother us yesterday as we cashed with California. I also know a lot of people are going to look at Texas' Coach Tom Hermann and point out his record as an Underdog but the best part of his Underdog record was while he was at Houston. Utah is the better team with a very physical defense something that Big 12 teams just don't see on a regular basis. Utah is also a 200 Club member as they rush and pass for more than 200 yards per game. I just don't see Texas and their 105th ranked defense stopping Utah's balanced attack. Texas can move the ball but Utah owns the 4th ranked defense in all of College Football. Texas needs their running game to work to set up the rest of their offense and simply put you just don't run on Utah as 10 of their 12 opponents rushed for Under 100 yards against them this year. Note Utah is 22-10 ATS as a Favorite Over the last 3 years. My numbers have UTAH winning 34-17 as my BOWL MISMATCH GAME OF THE WEEK.

This team is not balanced on offense. Two teams will face off missing key weapons that they had all year on offense. I will bank on them not scoring that much and this being a lower scoring game. This is a perfect game for side and total play. Texas has a new defensive coordinator and doesn’t even have a linebackers coach on their staff right now. This team suspended a key reserve linebacker and another is iffy for today with a shoulder injury. The secondary this season has been a mess with injuries. There are so many guys in this unit that have not played together. I am not so sure this unit will be able to tackle any Utah running back and when the Utes decide to throw should have wide open guys. Texas has a lot of great receivers and should be able to take advantage of a few guys out in the Utes Secondary. This should be a high scoring game, but teams like Utah are so physical and will impose their will on a defense that come the second half the points keep rolling up on the scoreboard. Take Utah and the Over.

I'm banking on Jose Alvarado making a big impact now that he's back to full strength. He played in all three games in Hawaii and should be back up to speed after a few days off. He, not Michael Devoe, is Tech's best player. Junior Jordan Usher, a USC transfer, is also eligible now and this is a bit better Jackets team. Florida State is no joke. They are big, they are strong and they are deep. However, they are also pretty young. And with a bigger game against Louisville on deck the Seminoles might be looking past the Yellowjackets in this one. FSU has had some wobbly moments - a loss at Pittsburgh, close wins against Western Carolina and South Florida - and I don't know that they are going to lay the wood here.

We are in ACC play and it is now put up or shut up time for the Hurricanes. This team has all the pieces to be successful in ACC play. They have experience, they have shooting, they have just enough size, they have depth and they have a really good coach. Now it is just about finding some chemistry. Miami is better than Clemson. The Tigers lost their three best players from last season and they have struggled since the opening game. Clemson has lost five of its last six games and they really haven't been that competitive in those losses. Miami is the much better team in this game. They just need to play like it.

The public is all about Evansville in this game. I'll go the other way. Evansville beat Kentucky on the road in one of the biggest upsets of the year. However, they haven't done much since then. They have lost to some really bad teams like ECU, George Washington and Jacksonville State. I think that Missouri State is better than it has played. They are relying on a bunch of transfers this season. And it took some time for them to get a feel for playing with one another. Also, two of their seven losses are by a single point and four of the seven are by four points or fewer. That includes some close losses to teams like Buffalo, Xavier and Miami. I think that this group is going to be focused and ready to go for the start of league play. Finally, the Purple Aces also have to deal with distraction surrounding head coach Walter McCarty, who has been placed on leave.
