I don't really trust this Hofstra team. They are 14-6 but I think that they have been playing over their heads a bit. They lack size and depth and they may have a little bit of a letdown here after their close call down in Charleston on Saturday. Delaware is a bit better than it has played. The Blue Hens can shoot from deep and have decent guard play, but they get beat up inside. They have still only lost a handful of games by eight points or more and I think that they can find a way to threaten the Pride here.

3-Unit Play. Take #607 James Madison (+9) over William & Mary (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)
I'm playing the line movement in this game. Nearly 70 percent of the action in this game is on William & Mary. And why not? They are dominating the CAA right now, going 6-1 in league play and they are in first place. James Madison is better than their 1-6 league record though. And the line is dropping. JMU has lost four straight and they have to be desperate coming into this one. I just don't know that the Tribe will continue to play at the level they have and I'll take the points in a reverse line movement here.

1-Unit Play. Take #613 Illinois-Chicago (+4.5) over Oakland (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)
Oakland has lost five of six and nine of their last 11 games. They have really only beaten the dregs on their schedule. Illinois-Chicago nearly qualifies. But this team is actually better than their record. They weren't healthy early in the season. But since getting Marcus Ottey and Jordan Blount back they are a completely different, more talented team. I think they can win this one outright.

1-Unit Play. Take #619 Belmont (+1) over Murray State (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)

4-Unit Play. Take #623 UW-Green Bay (-3) over Cleveland State (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)

Green Bay isn't any good. But they at least have a definable characteristic in that they can score. The Phoenix play fast and can put points on the board, and I don't think that Cleveland State is going to be able to keep up. I am stunned that the Vikings have won seven games this year, frankly, and I don't see too many W's left in their future. This is a veteran team and I don't think that they will have too much trouble on the road here.

3-Unit Play. Take #632 Utah (+1) over Washington (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)
I'll go with the home team in this one. Utah is a different team when they play in their home gym. And Washington isn't nearly as good on the road as they are at home, either. Utah has the size to pound Washington's zone on the interior. And the Huskies should be in a letdown spot here after a stunning home loss in overtime against rival Oregon. Utah has lost four straight games, and they got embarrassed last week in their Arizona trip. I think that they will bounce back here at home.

3-Unit Play. Take #633 UTEP (-3) over Rice (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)
The Miners have kind of come unglued. They have lost seven of their last 10 and they are sinking fast. However, this team really has had a tough schedule. They also have a ton of close losses. Six of their eight losses have come by five points or fewer and four of them are by three or less. Rice is Rice. They stink and are just a bad basketball team. Any win they get is by fluke chance. They will be much better next year. But right now they are just a young, overmatched team trying to find their way through league play.

2-Unit Play. Take #647 Michigan State (-3.5) over Indiana (8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)

3-Unit Play. Take #653 Morehead State (-3) over Tennessee Tech (8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23)
Morehead State is coming off a terrible weekend, getting blasted by Tennessee State and Belmont on the road. However, they already beat Tennessee Tech easily (83-72) back on Jan. 4 and they should do it again here. Morehead State isn't good. But Tennessee Tech is one of the worst teams in college basketball. They have just two wins against D-I opponents. Their other two wins were by just three points apiece. Tennessee Tech has gone just 4-28 straight up in their last 32 games against D-I competition so any expectation for them to win a game has to be nil. Morehead State has actually done a good job at beating the dregs this year and they have just one loss to teams in the bottom one-third of college hoops. They won't win by much. But they don't need to.

We roll with the Overe here as though the public is on the Under we still like the Over here. What yo have here is the Cavs that had 3 guys that could not have shot worse in their last game with their sub 90 point performance against the New YorK Knicks. This is a team that had Love shoot 4/14, Garland 4/20 and Sexton shoot 6/20 in their backcourt. Their backcourt essentially shot 10 for 40 and that is not going to cut it. On top of all this, their 3 point shooting was 11/33 from the field and you would have to think they are going to play better offensively against one of the worst defenses in the league in Washington. But, you know what Washington can do? They can play phenomenal offense as they are a top 5 offense and as they face the Cavs here I think they will be a good active dog and play well as they have been playing well overall. Remember this team nearly beat the Heat on the road dropping 129 points in overtime and 118 points in regulation against a good Heat defense. I think Washington plays well offensivey and I also think Cleveland really bonces-back offensively as the total is high for a reason as this game likely goes over today.

I know this Washington Huskies team very well. We have cashed betting on them, and cashed betting against them. Tonight is the perfect spot to hop back on the Husky train. After last game's CRUSHING defeat to Oregon I know the Huskies will be eager to take the court and get that conference win. Washington could easily be 4-0 in pac-12 play. All of their losses have been extremely close. Utah has been so bad as of late, losing 4 straight games and not playing a lick of defense. That is what concerns me with Utah, they are getting DRUBBED by playing absolutely no defense and I cannot back a team that is allowing 80-90 points in recent memory and ranks damn near 300th on defense. Washingtons defense will Always show up. They rank 39th in the country but in my opinion they are a top 15 defense. They have defenders that can individually clamp down on you, something Utah doesnt have. Utah has lost 5 of their last 6 by an average of 21 points!! While Washington's worst conference loss was a 6 point loss to Stanford on the road. Utah is a must fade. They are sliding hard. Utah relies on outscoring teams to win, that doesn't work vs ELITE defensive teams. Washington is holding teams to 37% from the field, which is good for 7th in the country. I am not worried about their offense, I know they can keep up with Utah, the Huskies still have 4 players averaging double figures! Like i said, the Utes are a must fade and this is an excellent bounce back spot for Washington. Huskies all day.

We roll with just 1 CBB Play today though at some point this week we are likely to have 2 CBB Plays. You are going to see a very motivated Michigan State team here. Remember, this team lost to Indiana last year by 29 points so they have that revenge here and this is a MSU team that then beat Wisconsin as they returned home but they still haven't proven themselves on the road and I think they likely do that here. Indiana comes off a great shooting performance going 23/35 from 2 point land in their last game and I suspect they have a bit of a let down here as they were a bit loose with the ball and had 16 turnovers and still won. If this team had its issues against Arkansas and Maryland losing by 7 and 20, they are going to have some issues against Michgan State who will come out highly focused and ready to roll today. I think Michigan State gives Indiana all sorts of issues today and gets it done.

Indiana might be 14-4 SU and 11-1 SU at home, but make no mistake about it – this team is a paper tiger; primed to get exposed as their schedule toughens considerably over the next few weeks. Yes, Indiana has a winning record in Big 10 action, but that’s only because they’ve faced Nebraska twice, Northwestern and slumping Ohio State. They’ve lost every step up game over the last six weeks, all by margin – at home to Arkansas, and at Wisconsin, Maryland and Rutgers. The Hoosiers are an overvalued commodity right now, plain and simple; a ‘bet against’ squad in this ATS range.

Sparty is in excellent current form off their slow start; 6-1 ATS in their last seven contests. They’ve got the low post muscle to keep Hoosiers leading scorer Trayce Jackson- Davis of the glass, but Indiana doesn’t have the ability to contain Spartans stud Cassius Winston without giving up easy looks to his teammates. UConn is a ‘bet-against’ team when they step up in class against elite defensive foes. Make no mistake about it – the Huskies are a VERY limited offensive ballclub these days. Dan Hurley has only one player averaging more than ten points per game – Christian Vital – and he’s hitting under 40% from the floor, as is third leading scorer, guard Alterique Gilbert. Fourth leading scorer Tyler Polley was just lost to a season ending injury. They’ve hung 60 or less in all three previous road games in conference play; losing two of the three by 15 points or more.
UConn shot 49% from the floor in their last outing and still only got to 55 – only two offensive rebounds and three free throw attempts for the entire game. Those are not ‘bet-on’ stats moving forward, to put it mildly; nor can we expect the Huskies to get love from the refs moving forward in their final season in the AAC before moving to the Big East next year.
The Cougs beat the Huskies 84-45 in the AAC Tourney last March; part of their season sweep against UConn. They’re red hot right now, entering the Top 25 following wins over SMU and Wichita State last week, and they’ve been an undervalued commodity in the betting markets for weeks; 8-1 SU & ATS in their last nine ballgames. There’s a class difference here not fully reflected in this pointspread. Take Houston.

Colonial Athletic Association action here today has James Madison taking on William & Mary. James Madison Dukes are 8-10 S/U and 6-10 ATS on the season. The Dukes are 1-6 S/U and 1-5-1 ATS in conference play. William & Mary Tribe are having an excellent season with a 14-6 S/U and 13-6 ATS mark on the year. They are also 6-1 S/U and 5-2 ATS in conference play. The Tribe did lose their first conference game last time out at Drexel, 57-84 as a 3-point road dog. I look for the Tribe to bounce back here at home after that blowout loss. I believe they will take it out here on James Madison tonight. Take the Tribe in a blowout.

Dane Fischer is doing a fantastic job in his first year with the Tribe of William & Mary, but I don’t think this team should be such big favorites tonight. James Madison has played this team tight over the past few seasons and when it comes to raw talent these teams are pretty similar. The Dukes have been a little sloppy on the defensive end this year, but do have a little bit of a size advantage tonight and bring back a group that is familiar with each other. This line is a bit too high. Take James Madison.

The Phoenix have a new first year head coach and don’t have the talent to match up with the Tigers just yet. Here is another road favorite that is better in all areas tonight. Cleveland State is breaking in a brand new head coach in Dennis Gates. Green Bay’s head coach has been with the program for 5 years and has coached at many other big programs. Green Bay has better shooters and are by far the more experienced basketball team heading into tonight’s contest. The Phoenix are vulnerable on Defense, but Cleveland State just does not have the bodies on offense to put up a lot of points. I don’t think they can take advantage. This team lacks the shooting to stay in the game with a high powered offense. Take Green Bay.
