The late TNT game should be fantastic as we will have a Western Conference battle at the Pepsi Center. The red hot Utah Jazz come to Denver winners of 8 out 10 and their offense has been nothing but on fire as of late. The Jazz are averaging 110.2ppg in those 10 games and I see them controlling the tempo. The Denver Nuggets have split their last 6 games but the Nuggets last two home games both of them have gone 'Over' the total. The last three meetings between these two teams 2 of them have gone 'Over' and the Jazz in those 3 games are averaging 114.3ppg. Utah is 6-0 O/U last 6 road games and the Jazz are also 7-2 O/U after scoring 100 points or more in their last game. The Denver Nuggets are 7-3 O/U as a favorite and again look for the Jazz to control the pace tonight.

Florida International is a completely different team at home and they have won eight straight in Miami. Marshall, coincidentally, is not nearly as good when they play off their home court. And after a rough week last week, getting swept in a home-and-home with Western Kentucky, I wonder where their focus is going to be on this road trip. Marshall wants to play fast, but they don't play any defense. That is going to play right into FIU's hands. They like to trap full court and play up-tempo, except they are the much better defensive team. This spread should be around 5.5 but I think that the books are going to short it. I also think that Marshall is going to continue to be terrible on the road while FIU continues their solid home court play. Lay the points here in this CUSA matchup.

This line is available at Treasure Island, Circa Sports and the Wynn. I think that this is a good matchup for the home team. Minnesota is kind of a big, strong team that wants to bang away at opponents. Illinois has more than enough size on the interior, though, and they love to bang and grind. The Illini have a much better backcourt, though, and they are better defensively. I don't think that the Golden Gophers will be able to handle Kofi Cockburn and Giorgi Bezhanishvili on the interior. And I think that Minnesota's guards are going to struggle with Illinois' deny-and-pressure defense on the perimeter. Illinois has won six straight games overall and they haven't lost at home in two months. They are coming off back-to-back impressive road wins, dominating Purdue on the road and then handling Michigan away from home as well. Minnesota has been garbage on the road. When they've lost this year, it has generally been pretty ugly. And other than sweeping shaky Ohio State, Minnesota hasn't done a ton this year that instills confidence. I think the Illini are going to be up for this game and I think that they will get it.

4-Unit Play. Take #648 Maryland (-5.5) over Iowa (8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30)
Iowa should not have won its last game, getting gifted a win (and cover) against Wisconsin on Monday. Iowa has won five straight. But four of those games were at home, and the lone road win was against a bad Northwestern team. Maryland is really good at home and they will be ramped up for this game against a fellow Top 20 team. This is a good matchup for the Terps. They have the size on the interior to more than handle Luka Garza. Maryland has played four of its last five games on the road, so it is easy to forget how dominant they can be on their own floor. (See: a 12-point win over Ohio State and a 16-point win over Indiana). Maryland also has revenge for an embarrassing 67-49 loss at Iowa on Jan. 10 and I think that they will get it back here.

2-Unit Play. Take #664 Washington (+3) over Arizona (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30)
This is kind of a do-or-die moment for the young Huskies. This team has lost five of its last six and seven of their last nine games. But they are much better than their record suggests. Two of those losses were in overtime and five of the seven losses have come by four points or less. They have played four of their last six games on the road and I think that they will get a boost from the home crowd here. Arizona is a really young team as well. But they have not played much on the road, and they haven't played well on the road. They are 0-4 in their four road games, including a total collapse against rival Arizona State on Saturday. I think Washington will win this one outright.

2-Unit Play. Take #669 Belmont (-14.5) over Tennessee Tech (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30)
Belmont should not be screwing around here. And they should absolutely bury one of the worst teams in college basketball. Belmont took two tough losses last week, falling to rival Murray State on national TV and then getting embarrassed in a letdown spot at Austin Peay. Those losses were ugly. And Belmont has had to sit on them all week. They should be ready to unleash the fury here.

7-Unit Play. Take #628 Illinois (-5.5) over Minnesota (7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30)I will go with the home team in this one. Illinois is 11-1 straight up at home this year. Minnesota has really struggled on the road, going just 1-6. Illinois is coming off back-to-back ATS wins on the road and I think that they are going to get another big win here. Minnesota is 1-2 SU and ATS in their last three games and is coming off an 18-point loss to Michigan State. The Golden Gophers are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games after a double-digit loss at home. I think they will struggle again here. The home team has won and covered three straight meetings between these two teams. The favorite is 7-1 ATS in this series and the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six. The Fighting Illini are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team that's over .500 and I like them to get the job done here.

3-Unit Play. Take #640 Arkansas State (-1.5) over Appalachian State (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30)
Arkansas State has been one of the best ATS teams in college basketball this season. They are 15-5 ATS and I think that they are going to get another win here. Appalachian State is just 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six games and this team has struggled on the road. They are coming off a road win at Coastal Carolina and I don't think that the Mountaineers will be able to win back-to-back road games. The home team has won six of the last seven meetings in this series and the Red Wolves are 6-0 ATS as a home favorite. Lay this short number.

7-Unit Play. #647. Take Over 145.5 Iowa vs. Maryland (Thursday @ 8:30pme st)
We roll with with the Over here as we think this game is likely to be high scoring and have a very fast pace. Maryland just beat Indiana by 1 point on the road in a thriller and had beat Northwestern by 11 before that and Purdue by 7 before that. This team had beat a very good Ohio State team and then got thumped at Iowa earlier this year by a score of 49-67. It was a terrible game and this team had basically a season low total in points of sub 50 points. Maryland will be ticked and that will not happen today with revenge. But, rather than the Side, let's take the Over here as we come off a 7*Winner yesterday as well. Iowa just put up 68 points on Wisconsin which is not easy to do, 85 against Rutgers and 90 against Michigan. This is a team that shies against no one and can put up points against anyone. I think when you put that all together, you are likely to get a very fast paced game that likely sees this game go over the posted total today. Taking a double-digit road favorite can be very difficult, but the Raptors are healthy and the Cavs stink. Cleveland is one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA and Toronto is going to exploit that problem all night long. The Raptors are starting to really look good as they have won eight games in a row while the Cavs have lost eight of nine. Out of the eight Cavs losses, six were by double-figures. Cleveland gets blown out a lot and tonight will be no different.

Meanwhile, the Jazz have to travel to Denver on the second night of a road back-to-back which is never a fun situation, and are also playing their third game in four nights. Look for the Nuggets to take advantage of a worn out Jazz team that has dropped their last two contests.

As per your selection on the Buffalo Sabres, we feel that this is an ideal spot to back them against a Montreal team that is just ravaged with injuries and continues to give up boatloads of goals. The Sabres came out of the break flat against the Sens, losing 5-2 despite being tied at 2-2 at one point. The Canadians were simply outplayed by the Capitals in their first game out of the break and we expect that trend to continue on the road against a Sabres team who has an excellent home record and who is better on the defensive side of the ice. The Sabres have already beaten the Habs once this season and there's no reason to believe they can't do it again on home ice. Look for Buffalo to come out strong and get a much needed two points to stop the losing streak.

After playing horrible defense last time out we are sure the focus for Utah has been strong defense, and we think the Jazz will lock down on that end tonight. The Jazz are 16-7 ATS in the last 23 meetings, and we feel this is their game to take tonight.

Eastern Illinois has a lot of veteran players and a few JC transfers. This is a mature team that should be able to keep this game close. That +465 money line is awfully tempting. Take Eastern Illinois.

There is no junior or senior that plays a big role on this squad. USC has a ton of experience and under the leadership of Andy Enfield are heading in the right direction. Utah plays awful defense on the road. USC plays great defense at home. There should come a time in this game where the Trojans make a run on offense and a few stops on defense that allow them to get out to a big enough run to win this by double digits. Take USC.

I'm taking the points with Northeastern on Thursday. The Huskies have been good for the bankroll on the road against teams with a winning home record, covering 10 of the last 14. They're normally undervalued in this role and they are again tonight in our betting opinion. Northeastern lost 66-64 to William & Mary earlier this season and they're on a 13-4 ATS run in road revenge of a loss by 3 or less. The Huskies didn't play one of their better games in the loss, yet came within a 3-pointer of winning the contest despite the fact William & Mary made 55% of their FGA. Each of the Huskies last 4 losses came by 2 points -- and their last 5 losses came by a grand total of 13 points. Northeastern enters with the 6th best offensive effective FG percentage in college basketball! William & Mary is not too hot in the defensive FG percentage category and they have issues in the defensive turnover department where they force just 10 per game. I'm backing Portland State on Thursday. Montana has had their issues on the road covering just 3 of their last 12 and PSU has been money in this spot, covering 9 of their last 11 at home against teams playing less than .400 road basketball. The Grizzlies have serious issues on the glass and while they don't get to the FT line too often, they have committed a lot of PFs, allowing the opposition to camp out at the charity stripe. In fact, they average less than 10 made FTs per game on the road, while allowing nearly 21 made FTs. We have the much better rebounding team and Portland State knows how to fill the basket at home, averaging over 83 ppg, while holding their guests to 71 ppg. Portland State had a horrible second half in this season's first meeting, a Montana win. The Vikings finished 0-11 from the 3-point line in the defeat, while Montana hit 60% of their FGA. Stanford and Oregon State will be coming into tonight's matchup on losing streaks. Oregon State has lost 4 of their last 5, while Stanford has dropped 2 extremely close games in a row. I must say, i like that Stanford lost their previous two games, they need this win more than OSU if they want to compete with Oregon at the top of the Pac12. Stanford is still in excellent shape as they are 15-4, 11-1 at home, and 13-6 ATS. Not only has Stanford won the last 4 matchups vs OSU, but they have covered the number in 3 of those 4 wins. You know my favorite two ingredients.. defense and rebounding. Both teams are about even in rebounding, however, Stanford blows OSU out the water when it comes to playing defense. Stanford ranks 7th in the country in defensive efficiency. Stanford actually has a fantastic offense, they just play at a slow pace. They are 10th in FG% and 15th in 3pt%. They may not average 80PPG, but they can put up 80+ on any given night, especially vs this swiss cheese Oregon State defense. It will be bombs away from 3 point land all night. I absolutely love Stanford at home, they play the type of basketball where the home crowd really helps. It is much harder to control the pace of the game as Stanford likes to do, when on the road. Stanford, 4-2 in conference play needs this one bad. They are too good on offense and defense for this game to even be close at home. Stanford in a blowout.

Colorado is playing MUCH better basketball than the UCLA right now and will look to bury the already dead bruins even one foot deeper tonight. Colorado enters tonight 16-4 overall, covering 7 of their last 9 games. UCLA is 10-10 on the year, 2-4 ATS in their last 6, and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. I'd just like to say, I do not blame this failure on first year coach Mick Cronin. Cronin was not able to recruit his guys and now has to deal with the players that last years coach left him. Not a great group of kids, sorry. Colorado is averaging 72PPG while UCLA is averaging a measily 62 points in their last 5 games. That is a 10 point difference on offense... and offense isnt even Colorado's specialty, yikes! They have all of my favorite ingredients, what is not to like. The Buffs ranks 23rd on defense, 29th in defensive rebounding, and 73 in offensive rebounding. Defense is what is going to win this game. This is an ELITE defense, when UCLA has to go up against defenses like this, things do not go well. Colorado sort of reminds me of Stanford, who beat up on UCLA by 15 points a few games ago. They are literally better than UCLA in every important category so I will not continue to bore you with the stats. The Buffs are excellent in conference play, as they enter tonight 6-2. KENPOM ranks UCLA 130th in the country, to Colorado's 19th ranking. Two teams going in opposite directions. You have to go with Colorado here, this UCLA team STINKS and will struggle mightily with the stingy Buffs defense. Colorado all day, and night!

I love this number, plain and simple, this should be a 6.5 goal total NOT 6. So many stats show that this Preds team is edging every team they play into a high scoring game, they've gone over the total in 10 of their last 13 games on the road and 11 of their last 12 vs East conference opponents. The Devils are coming off a 4-3 game vs the Sens and will continue to see the puck go in for them in the 2nd half of the season. The Devils have plenty of talent up front with Hughes, Gusev and company...
