It looks to us that PSU may have peaked a little early and they are now come back earth. Between January 18th and February 15th the Nittany Lions won 8 straight games including impressive wins over Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State. They were clicking on all cylinders during that stretch at a level that we didn’t think they could sustain. During that 8 game stretch PSU topped 1.15 points per possession 4 times and held their opponents under 1.00 PPP 5 times. Their Big 10 averages in conference games in those metrics are 1.02 PPP offensively and 1.00 PPP defensively so you can see the level they were playing at. Now their last 3 games they have regressed as we thought they would losing at home to Illinois, losing @ Indiana, and they barely getting by Rutgers on Thursday night at home 65-64. In those 3 games they shot just 39% combined and made only 13 of their 55 three point attempts (23%). Now they travel to Iowa where the Hawkeyes are a perfect 8-0 SU (6-1-1 ATS) this year at home in Big 10 play. They are also coming off a 78-70 loss @ Michigan State on Tuesday. Iowa currently sits in 6th place in the conference but they are 1-game out of a group of 4 teams in 2nd place which includes Penn State. The Hawks are #1 in the Big 10 in offensive efficiency (6th nationally) averaging 1.16 PPP and at home they average 82 PPG on 48% shooting. We also expect them to get to the FT line plenty here, where they make 74%, as PSU fouls more than any team in the conference. It also looks like Iowa will get a boost offensively with starting guard CJ Fredrick (11 PPG hitting 46% of his 3’s) is expected back after missing the last 3 games. In their only other meeting this year (in Philadelphia), Penn State came from 7 points down in the 2nd half to win 89-86. Iowa turns the tables on Saturday and gets a win and cover vs a struggling PSU team.

The Iowa Hawkeyes want revenge from their tough 86-89 loss at Penn State in their first meeting this season. They should have no problem getting that revenge at home this time around with a win and cover.
Iowa is a sensational 13-1 SU & 11-2-1 ATS at home this season. The Hawkeyes are expected to get back their best shooter in CJ Fredrick (10.7 PPG, 46.7% 3-pointers) from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury. They have played well without him, upsetting Minnesota on the road, covering at Michigan State and beating Ohio State by 9 at home. But having him back gives them an added dynamic that they’ve been missing.
Penn State is 1-2 SU & 0-3 ATS in its last three games overall. The Nittany Lions were upset at home by Illinois and lost on the road at Indiana. They barely escaped with a last-second 3-pointer in a 65-64 home win over Rutgers on Wednesday as 4.5-point favorites. Iowa last played on Tuesday and gets an extra day of rest and preparation. The Nittany Lions have been without Myreon Jones (14.1 PPG) in their last six games and he remains questionable tonight.
Iowa is 14-2 SU & 10-5-1 ATS in its last 16 home meetings with Penn State. The Hawkeyes are 6-0 ATS off a road loss this season. Iowa is 7-0 ATS in home games vs. teams that attempt 21 or more 3-pointers per game this season. Bet Iowa Saturday.

They also lost at DePaul earlier this year to add to their hunger. It was a rare win for DePaul, which has gone 1-9 SU & 3-7 ATS in its 10 games since. The 9 losses have come by 12.3 PPG so they have been blown out on the regular. The Bulldogs have had 5 days off in between games while the Blue Demons have only had 3 days off. These two teams sport almost identical overall records but I believe Miami has a little more upside at this stage of the season. The Hurricanes will be highly-motivated here coming off a blowout loss on the road against Notre Dame. Prior to that, the Canes had reeled off three straight victories. Georgia Tech has also won three of its last four games to get back to the .500 mark on the season. Keep in mind, the Yellow Jackets are far from unbeatable at home, having gone just 8-6 here this season. The Canes took the last meeting by 15 points on February 23rd. The Jackets will have revenge on their minds but I'm not sure it will be enough to earn the cover here. Take Miami (8*).

In a trio of highlighted Leap Day matchups on Saturday night’s college basketball betting board, nationally ranked teams coast to coast make the list.

Starting on the East Coast in the ACC, the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils head to Charlottesville to face the Virginia Cavaliers. Moving to the Big Ten, the No. 24 Michigan State Spartans are on the road against the No. 9 Maryland Terrapins. Closing out the night in the West Coast Conference, the Saint Mary Gaels take on the No. 3 Gonzaga Bulldogs in Spokane.

Betting Matchup

Duke’s loss to North Carolina State as a road favorite on Feb. 19 was bad and Tuesday’s 113-101 road loss to Wake Forest as an 11-point favorite in double overtime was worse as part of a 1-2 record straight-up and against the spread in the last three games. The total has gone OVER in the Blue Devils’ last four games. They are 23-5 SU (14-14 ATS) overall with a 13-4 record in ACC play. Duke is third in the nation in scoring (83.3 points). Wake Forest’s 113 points ties the record for the most points allowed in the Mike Krzyzewski coaching era.

The Cavaliers (20-7 SU, 11-15-1 ATS) are 12-5 SU in conference play with five wins in a row. However, they are now 1-6 ATS over their last seven games. Michigan State is 19-9 SU (12-16 ATS) with an 11-6 record in Big Ten play. The total has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in 11 of its last 13 contests. Cassius Winston led the way on Tuesday with 20 points (19 in the second half). The senior guard is averaging 18.4 points per game this year.

Maryland (13-4 SU) is trying to nail down the Big Ten regular season title with a two-game lead and three games left to play. The Terrapins (23-5 SU, 14-13-1 ATS) bounced back from a seven-point road loss to Ohio State as three-point underdogs with Wednesday’s one-point squeaker over Minnesota as one-point favorites on the road. They were able to erase a 16-point halftime deficit. Maryland moved to 10-1 SU in its last 11 games but the record drops to 2-4-1 ATS over the last seven outings. The total has gone OVER in the last three games.

-- The Spartans have lost eight of their last 10 games as road underdogs with a 4-6 record ATS. The has gone OVER in eight of those 10 games.

The Gaels (23-6 SU, 13-16 ATS) wrap up their WCC regular season schedule on Saturday after losing the first meeting against Gonzaga 90-60 on Feb. 8 as five-point home underdogs. They are 11-4 SU in conference play and the total has gone OVER in seven of their last nine games. Jordan Ford put up 33 points in Thursday’s win. The senior guard is averaging 20.9 PPG this season.

The Bulldogs’ perfect run through the WCC was spoiled on Feb. 22 in a stunning road loss to BYU. They hammered San Diego 94-59 on Thursday as 25-point home favorites to take out some the frustration caused by their only SU loss since early December. Gonzaga is 14-1 in WCC play as part of a 28-2 record overall. It is 16-13-1 ATS after failing to cover in five of its last eight outings. The total has gone OVER in 11 of its last 12 games. The Bulldogs are scoring 87.8 PPG behind seven players averaging at least 10 points a game. That scoring total is ranked second in the nation.

-- The Gaels are 2-8 SU in their last 10 road games as underdogs with the total staying UNDER in eight of those games. They are 2-4 ATS in the six road games getting points.

Top Game: Rockets at Celtics (-2, 230.5), 8:35 p.m. ET, ABC
Houston (38-20 SU, 29-29 ATS) was staring a three-game losing streak that would’ve matched its second-longest of the season in the face when it squared off against Boston (41-17, 36-20-1) on Feb. 11. The Celtics came into Toyota Center on a seven-game winning streak but were turned away in one of only two losses they’ve suffered during an 11-2 run that began on Jan. 28.

The Rockets haven’t lost since that 116-105 win, carrying a five-game winning streak into TD Garden thanks to a small-ball approach they’re calling “microball” that has been fortified by the additions of Robert Covington, Jeff Green and DeMarre Carroll.

James Harden and Russell Westbrook have done the bulk of the work. Westbrook has scored 30 or more points in nine of 11 games while the league’s leading scorer, Harden (35.2 ppg) has topped 30 points in eight of 11. Both were dominant in Wednesday’s 140-112 rout of the Grizzlies.

Although Houston’s All-Stars have been exceptional of late, you won’t find many arguments that the player currently enjoying the best form entering this matchup is Celtics’ forward Jayson Tatum, who has shined against LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and other peers over the past month, emerging as one of the league’s best just before he turns 22 years old on March 3.

With Kemba Walker sidelined by knee soreness, Tatum has had the ball in his hands more over the past few weeks and has averaged 30.5 points in February, shooting 51 percent from the field and 50 percent of 3-point range, tossing in an average of 4.4 makes from beyond the arc per contest. He’s scored 30 or more in six of 11 games and has made at least four 3-pointers eight times.

Look for Covington and Danuel House to be on Tatum duty, but it remains to be seen how the Rockets handle coverages since he’ll be motivated to bounce back from a 15-point effort in the loss at Houston that is by far his worst outing of the month. Tatum went 0-for-7 from beyond the arc at Toyota Center but should be more comfortable at home. Walker isn’t expected back until Tuesday’s game against Brooklyn, which means Marcus Smart is likely to remain in the starting lineup and should team with Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward and key reserve guard Brad Wanamaker to try and slow Harden and Westbrook down.

Houston’s All-Star duo combined for 78 points in the win over the Celtics but know they must be wary of revenge here since their 23-5 mark at home ranks fourth-best in the NBA behind the 76ers, Bucks and Heat. They scored 141 points against the Clippers there on Feb. 13 and own a seven-game winning streak in their building, last losing on Jan. 18 as the Suns pulled an upset.

Boston has covered in 10 of its last 13 games, including each of its last five. Houston is 4-1 ATS over its last five and has won three of four on the road.

Although Walker won’t play, the Celtics may get back the services of reserve big man Robert Williams, who has been sidelined since early December due to a hip injury. The ‘over’ is on a 4-1 run in games involving Boston and has prevailed in three of the last four contests featuring the Rockets.

Best of the Rest

Nets at Heat (-7, 223), 7:35 p.m. ET
Brooklyn (26-32, 27-31) got rocked in Atlanta on Friday, surrendering 79 points in the second and third quarters to fall 141-118 after leading early by double-digits. The Nets have lost three straight and have fallen to No. 8 in the Eastern Conference, a half-game behind Orlando. Ninth-place Washington remains five games back, so the Nets are still in a good spot to reach the playoffs without the injured Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but their stint should be brief with it looking increasingly likely that the Bucks will be their first-round foe. They’ll have to overcome landing in South Florida from Atlanta with enough time to take in some of Miami’s night life, so be on the lookout for that.

Miami (37-22, 31-27-1) has lost seven of 10 despite snapping a two-game losing streak by beating Dallas 126-118 on Friday, rallying in the fourth quarter to overcome surrendering a 38-point third. Perimeter defense continues to be an issue for the Heat, who gave up 21 3-pointers (out of 50) against the Mavs, who saw Seth Curry connect on eight of nine attempts. Miami spoiled Luka Doncic’s 21st birthday and caught a break as he attempted to play through a thumb injury, but it hasn’t won consecutive games since Feb. 1-3. These teams split their two meetings in Brooklyn and will be playing in South Florida for the first and only time this season. The AP’s Tim Reynolds reports that this will be the first “Leap Day” home game in Heat history.

Lakers (-6) at Grizzlies, 8:05 p.m. ET
It remains to be seen whether LeBron James will suit up in Memphis (28-31, 30-28-1) in order to send a message to the team that would be the Lakers’ first-round opponent if the playoffs opened today. Los Angeles (45-12, 31-25-1) plays in New Orleans on Sunday to close out its three-game road trip and currently views them as the more formidable foe given the Grizzlies’ depleted state, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see James give his sore groin an extra day of rest before returning. He sat out Wednesday’s 116-86 rout of the Warriors. Anthony Davis played through a sore elbow and is expected to suit up against a Grizzlies team missing their top two power forwards, Jaren Jackson, Jr. and rookie Brandon Clarke.

Lakers guard Danny Green is listed as doubtful with hip soreness, so expect more minutes for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Alex Caruso, who have both been x-factors of late. Rookie of the Year favorite Ja Morant had 20 points and 11 assists against the Kings on Friday night but Memphis still lost 104-101. The Grizzlies have dropped five consecutive games and have seen their lead over the Pels for the No. 8 spot shrink to just two games. Dillon Brooks scored a season-high 32 points and Jonas Valanciunas had a career-best 25 rebounds in the loss to Sacramento, so we’ll see what the shorthanded Griz have left in front of what should be a sell-out crowd. L.A. won in Memphis 109-108 on Nov. 23 and beat it by double-digits at Staples in October and most recently on Feb. 21, winning 117-105 behind 32 points from James. Jackson missed the second half due to knee soreness, part of Memphis’ big issue during this slide.

Magic at Spurs (-2, 220), 8:35 p.m. ET
Orlando (27-32, 26-31-2) has won three straight games and can match its longest run of success this season by pulling off this road upset. San Antonio (24-33, 24-32-1) is running out of time to extend its streak of making the playoffs that dates back to 1997-98, so this is a monumental game for both teams despite neither coming in with a winning record.

The Magic picked up a 136-125 win against Minnesota on Friday night behind 33 points from reserve Terrence Ross, 28 points from Nikola Vucevic and a triple-double from Aaron Gordon, who is playing his best basketball of the season after his Slam Dunk contest letdown.

San Antonio won’t have LaMarcus Aldridge in place due to a shoulder strain, so the Spurs will have to rely on DeMar DeRozan as the primary catalyst in order to avoid the season sweep against Orlando, which prevailed at home back on Nov. 15, 111-109. The Spurs have won 15 of 20 in the series between these teams, including eight of the last 10 at AT&T Center. The Magic have seen the ‘over’ prevail in six straight contests. The high side is 6-2 in the last eight involving San Antonio.

7-Adios Amigos (5-1)-Raced well from the 8-hole in last and now makes 3rd Stickney start after arriving from CalX. Thinking upswing could continue as could be better acclimated to the weather. Using and leaving #6, the ML chalk out.

Race 3

1-Waymore (7-1)-Oosting's choice over #5 tries Lasix for the 2nd time. Raced okay in the back half last week and now faces a field without a standout.
3-Trashytonguetalker (3-1)-Has won 14 of 33 starts at Haw but has fallen on hard times and has made only 6 starts in 2019-20. This looks like a spot to duck, stay on the wood and look to brush by down the lane.
5-Why Ask Why (9/2)-10-year old was used hard off the gate into a 55.4 opening half and didn't cave in at the end of the mile. Should be tighter and could win at a square price.

Race 4

3-J B's Hero (5-1)-Makes 3rd start of the meet and was rolling in the back half of the mile but couldn't gain ground into a tepid pace. Leonard sticks and will look for better tonight.
5-Native's Best Bet (9/2)-Made a rare break in last after going off as the chalk. Previous start was an easy win, thinking a repeat of that performance is more likely than last week's miscue.
7-Holdonwe'rerolling (2-1)-Drew off as a strong winner last time and beat five from this field. That start came after being on the shelf since 11/3. Looks like a major player for a barn batting 36%.

Race 5

5-A Bettors Risk (9/5)-Tuned-up last week versus Open company and now drops to a softer spot. Last line was better than it looked, went the last half in 54.3, last quarter in .27 flat. Looks like a winner with a decent trip.

RACE 1: Post 12:30 PT. Grade: B
Use: 3-Going to Vegas; 5-Too Much Heaven

Forecast: Going to Vegas was a visually pleasing winner of a maiden $75,000 claimer earlier this month but is eligible to this starter’s allowance affair for having competed for $50,000 last November at Del Mar. She’s progressing nicely for P. Miller and should have every chance to score right back from what projects to be a cozy stalking position. Too Much Heaven just won this condition in gate-to-wire fashion with a solid number but is eligible right back after being entered for the $40,000 tag today. If she’s handed the front end again, the daughter of Twirling Candy will take this field a very long way. We’ll prefer Going to Vegas on top but include both in our rolling exotics.

Single: 5-Royal Insider

Forecast: Royal Insider has won three of his last four in excellent style, most recently with a career top speed figure that if repeated today will make him very difficult to beat. The S. Knapp-trained gelding has an ideal stalking style that should allow him to enjoy a perfect trip at this 10 furlong distance, and with regular pilot T. Pereira staying aboard the son of Divine Park, a four-time winner over the Santa Anita main track, looks like a logical play both in the win pool and as a rolling exotic single.

RACE 3: Post 1:28 PT. Grade: B+
Single: 6-Castle Gate

Forecast: Castle Gate, away since a facile maiden claiming score at Del Mar last summer, returns protected in a sign of confidence by new trainer J. Mullins and has been burning up the track in recent weeks, including a blazing :46 1/5 bullet drill (fastest of 29) just three days ago. He retains regular rider R. Fuentes, lands the cozy outside post, and has the option of popping and going or drafting into a soft pace-stalking journey. We like him on top both in the win pool and in rolling exotic play.

RACE 4: Post 1:58 PT. Grade: B
Use: 3-Galilean; 7-Dessman

Forecast: Dessman, so promising in three starts during his 3-year-old campaign but off the track since finishing second at 50 cents on the dollar in an allowance race almost a year ago, returns in a logical spot with a series of strong works that should have him fit and ready. The B. Baffert-trained colt was a 7 length debut maiden winner so we know he can fire fresh, and with the benefit of an outside draw the son of Union Rag should be able to control the race as a pace presser or stalker. Similarly, Galilean, another highly-regarded 3-year-old in 2019, makes his first appearance since finishing fifth in the Arkansas Derby-G1 when trained by J. Hollendorfer. Now in the J. Sadler barn, the son of Uncle Mo shows three bullet workouts among his last four recorded drills, and he’s another first-out winner and therefore can be trusted to a fire a big shot off the bench. We’ll give Dessman a very slight edge on top but include both in our rolling exotics.

RACE 5: Post 2:28 PT. Grade: B-
Use: 1-Star of Africa; 7-Predictable Tully; 10-Le Tub

Forecast: We’ll go three-deep in this maiden turf router for 3-year-old fillies in our rolling exotics, but if you feel the need to use more, go right ahead. Our top selection, Predictably Tully, is improving with local racing based strictly on speed figures, and the Irish-bred filly can earn her diploma if she can produce another forward move. The J. Mullins-trained daughter of Kodiac likely will get her preferred patient trip from top turf rider U. Rispoli and have every chance to produce the last run. Le Tub flashed ability when a closing second sprinting on turf in her U.S. debut last summer but then flunked her dirt track test when far back behind Donna Veloce and was stopped on. She returns on her preferred surface for the D. O’Neill barn (solid stats with layoff runners) and projects to be on or near the lead throughout. The first timer Star of Africa is bred to run long on the lawn and has some ability in the morning. She worth using at least as a saver or a back-up.

RACE 6: Post 2:58 PT. Grade: C
Use: 3-Tallemark; 4-Luck is Golden; 6-Fellow Citizen

Forecast: We’ll spread the sixth race, a difficult state-bred sprint that drew just six runners. Fellow Citizen had a right to be a short horse in his first start since the summer of 2018 when flashing good speed before fading in a turf sprint. The P. Miller-trained gelding switches to the main track, adds blinkers, and is comfortably drawn outside, so unless one of the first timers is better than we think, the son of Proud Citizen should be able to handle this task. Tallemark didn’t get the best of runs in his debut but has come back to train well for Headley and seems likely to display improvement. Luck is Golden has shown a sprinkling of ability in the morning, and it won’t take a world beater to win this race, so we’ll toss him in as well.

RACE 7: Post 3:31 PT. Grade: B
Use: 2-Last Opportunity; 3-Rager; 6-Smooth Like Strait

Forecast: Rager has two grass races showing in his chart and both were quite good, a debut maiden win at Del Mar (at 19-1) and then most recently a solid runner-up in the Baffle Stakes in his sophomore debut. With plenty of speed signed on, the late-running son of Into Mischief should have every chance to produce the last run at what should be a nice price. Smooth Like Straight, the gate-to-wire winner of the Cecil B. DeMille Stakes at Del Mar last fall but a fading fourth as the favorite in the Eddie Logan Stakes over this course and distance in December, will be dangerous if handed the front end without pressure, though we suspect he’ll have to work a bit to get that type of trip. The son of Midnight Lute has numbers that certainly win but he still has to prove he can stalk and pounce if the race flow dictates. Last Opportunity closed gap in his U.S. debut to be a respectable third in a turf stakes for juveniles at Del Mar in December. He’s likely to produce a forward move off that race and has trained pretty nicely in recent works. Look for him to be running on late.

RACE 8: Post 4:02 PT. Grade: B-
Use: 1-Miss Stormy D; 3-Noble Contessa

Forecast: Noble Contessa is the one to beat in this first-level allowance main track miler for fillies and mares. A dominating 5 length winner of a $40,000 claimer here last month, the M. McCarthy-trained filly is protected today so she must be doing well; however, the projected race flow – with the presence of Miss Stormy D in the field - may prevent her from attaining her coveted front-running trip. Despite the fact that she was exiting a series of fast sprints, rating tactics were employed on Miss Stormy D when she stretched out for the first time last time out and the daughter of Tapizar ran well to finish second, almost seven clear of the rest. We wonder if this time her connections will take the initiative and let her roll. If sent, and in a field lacking in effective closers, the C. Gaines-trained filly might never look back. We’ll use both in rolling exotic play and hopefully survive and advance no matter what the pace scenario ends up being.

RACE 9: Post 4:30 PT. Grade: B
Use: 1-Foray; 6-Originaire

Forecast: Originaire and Foray finished two-three in a similar second-level allowance turf miler last month and they meet again, this time at a mile and one-eighth. Today’s extra furlong shouldn’t impact either horse. Originaire missed by a neck in the Del Mar Derby at this trip and represents the most dangerous of the stalkers/closers, while Foray, a two-time winner over the Santa Anita turf course, ran better than the line will show after being unable to secure his preferred front-running trip while instead being stuck in traffic much of the way. Today, from the rail, the J. Sadler-trained colt seems likely to try gate-to-wire tactics. Either one can depend upon trip and race-shape so we’ll include both in our rolling exotics.

February 29 Cross Country P5 Features Tampa, Aqueduct & Oakla February 27, 2020
OZONE PARK, N.Y. - The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will partner with Oaklawn Park and Tampa Bay Downs to host a Cross Country Pick 5 on Saturday, highlighted by the $100,000 Bernardini from Aqueduct Racetrack.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. Every week will feature a mandatory payout of the net pool.

Each leg of Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5 will air live on America's Day at the Races on FS2. The sequence begins at Tampa Bay Downs with a starter handicap at 4:13 p.m. Eastern. The nine-furlong starter handicap offers a field of 10 turfers led by 7-2 morning-line favorite Hope Again, who has posted a record of 13-6-2-2 for trainer Jose Delgado.

The action moves to the Big A for the second leg (Race 7, 4:20 p.m.) for a salty allowance event featuring a field of nine travelling a one-turn mile. The promising Freaky Styley, who graduated at the same distance in December for trainer Jorge Abreu, will make his seasonal debut as the likely favorite under hot rider Eric Cancel.

The third leg will switch to Oaklawn Park (Race 6, 4:39 p.m.) and feature a field of eight allowance optional-claiming sprinters led by the Brad Cox-trained Irish Mischief, who exits a runner-up effort in the American Beauty at the Hot Springs, Arkansas oval.

In the penultimate leg, Canadian-born trainer Rob Atras will send out a pair of top contenders in the $100,000 Bernardini (Race 8, 4:50 p.m.) from the Big A. Atras won the 2019 renewal with Royal Albert Hall and will be represented on Saturday by Dynamax Prime and Heavy Roller in the 1 5/16-mile stamina test.

The sequence concludes at Oaklawn Park (Race 7, 5:09 p.m.) with a contentious 11-horse field of older filly and mare sprinters. Leading contenders in the wide-open affair include 3-1 morning-line favorite Exchange West, runner-up last out after a slow start; Tiz a Goddess, a first-time starter for trainer Mike Maker listed at 7-2; and Shocking Fast, who makes her first start for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen after a pair of efforts in California for Bob Baffert.

The Cross Country Pick 5 will continue each Saturday throughout the year.

No good results for this runner in a sprint affair over the last sixty days tells me that this mare is in a difficult spot unlikely that the speed fig she recorded on November 23rd will hold up in this race. LUNA AZTECA - Not likely that this animal will finish better than she did last time when finishing fifth.

HOT RODIN - This jock and handler have a high win percent together. This gelding is back in a race very quick. This is a great angle - Sprinters that come back in less than 10 days after a race. A good sign of a sharp and ready racehorse. This gelding recorded a nice rating of 89 in his last affair. That speed figure should be high enough to score in today's event. LIL BIT OF THUNDER - Garcia comes to ride after getting to know the gelding in the last contest. This gelding is in good physical condition. Ended up second on February 10th.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 GAMBLERS GOLD RUSH (ML=2/1), #6 GRACIE BELLE (ML=7/2), #9 TIMBERFALLER (ML=4/1),

GAMBLERS GOLD RUSH - This less than sharp equine hasn't been on the track since February 1st. Not even any workouts. This racer ran a common speed rating last out. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely get beat today running that number. GRACIE BELLE - A pattern of decreasing Equibase speed figures 58/51/36 for this runner. The finish of sixth in the last affair shows me that this horse may be going off form. Improbable that the speed rating she notched on February 15th will be good enough in this race. TIMBERFALLER - Pace makes the race. Hard for this front-runner to be able to deal with the suicidal fractions from the rest of this field.
