Weekly Bankroll Builder: April 17 Gulfstream Park Late Pk4 play

Wednesday, April 15, 2020 Race Chat Host Brian Nadeau
With the Stronach 5 on hiatus for the time being, let’s alternate between Gulfstream’s late Pk5 and Pk4 on Friday’s, as even though the Championship Meet has ended, the racing is still flush with top connections and deep fields.

*** Please take note that this analysis is done upwards of 48 hours in advance, so obviously weather, track conditions and especially late scratches can and will have an effect. Please check back around 4pm Friday for an update, as well as on Twitter. ***

Race 7 (4:15 ET): 3up 20k N2L at 5 furlongs (turf)

The opening leg looks like it’s supposed to be won by one of the four favorites—#2 ONE WILD FOREVER (4-1), #6 SOUPER SHENANIGAN (7-2), #11 SOVEREIGN WARRION, and #12 OHANZEE (6-1)—but which one is the problem. I’ll use all of them while noting that the latter drew well for his pressing style and, while he faces winners today, could be ready to go on a bit of a roll after breaking through last time. ‘Warrior has been coming out of fast races for the level (for these) and as a big chance from a bit off the pace, while ‘Forever needs to work out a trip from down inside, and ‘Shenanigan is the wildcard off the WO layoff, but his two turf races to start his career where solid.

Pk4 A horses: 12,11,2,6 (listed in order of preference)

The wild card is #3 RESERVENOTATTAINED (6-1), who hasn’t been out in almost two years, but he returns as a first-time gelding for an underrated Yates barn, and has worked well for this, plus he showed some talent, when last seen, albeit on the dirt.

Pk4 B horses: 3

Potential B add ins: #8 Fentynola (20-1)

Race 8: 3yof AOC (50k/N1X) at 5 furlongs (turf)

I’ll go a bit against the grain here and side with the Tampa shipper #3 POSEIDON’S PASSION (8-1), who got to the turf last time and really improved, while winning with a solid figure and a stalking gear, plus that came off a four-month layoff, so she may move forward again. I’m treading lightly but using both #11 NOTORIOUS R B G (3-1), a debut winner for Clement, and #4 JADES GELLY (5-2) a Ward re-claim for just beat MCL’ers for Joseph, since both will be facing winners at underlaid prices.

Pk4 A horses: 3,11,4

Don’t sleep on #8 MRS. MAISEL (10-1), who was facing stakes foes last time and is just a notch below the best here on paper, which means if the pace falls apart, or she moves forward a bit, she can surprise. I’m against #5 SHIPPY (7-2) on top, even though she is the class off her 2yo graded dirt form, since she hasn’t been out since September, has never run on turf, and starts for Weaver, who is white hot this year, but is a combined 3-for-70 when you add up his first-time with trainer (0-for-14), first-time turf (2-for-31), and 180+-day layoff (1-for-25).

Pk4 B horses: 8,5

Potential B add ins: #2 Envied (6-1)

Race 9: 4up AOC (62.5k/N2X) at 6 furlongs

Clearly this race comes down to what you think of the undefeated #6 FORTIN HILL (9-5), who figures odds-on for Brown but hasn’t been out since June and could need this. Budget players will single him, and rightfully so as his best is simply better than these, but he could need this and obviously there are issues attached too, so I’ll use another. And that brings me to #2 YODEL E. A. WHO (7-2), who has been in good form in his last two for Joseph and should have plenty of foundation off the cutback from a pair of 1-mile runs, and owns plenty of tactical speed should the pace be a bit to hot for the comebacking favorite.

Pk4 A horses: 6,2

Fortin Hill may well be 3-5, and Brown figures to have him ready, so there will be no backups since I’m Dutching the top line with ‘Who.

Pk4 B horses: NONE

Potential B add ins: #7 Moonoverseba (8-1), #9 Benefactor (6-1)
Race 10: 3yo 65k MCL at 1 1/16 miles (turf)

Tough sledding here, as nine of the 11 experienced runners have never been in for a tag and therefore take the biggest drop in all of racing. It’s a deep spread for me with seven on the top line, as most of these either look the same on paper, or the longer prices are within a few lengths of the favorites, and therefore are worth inclusion on the top line. So, without further adieu, I’ll go with #3 COWTOWN (5-1), #7 CHOCOLATE BAR (8-1), #6 RECONVENE (12-1, #12 MAGIC STREET (7-2), and #11 ALPHA DOG (6-1), and, #10 MAVERICK KITTEN (4-1). The top pick is a stab, but Pletcher is 33% on the MSW drop, and while he hasn’t tried turf before, he exits some good dirt races, drew well, and has plenty of tactical speed too.

Pk4 A horses: 3,7,6,12,11,10

*** Please note to keep the backup tickets down, I’ll use only 3,7,6,12 ***

I’ll use a trio underneath too, since this is a tough race that I have no strong opinion on, and #1 KING OF ROCK (12-1) drops, drew well and starts for a sharp Gargan barn, while #9 EAGLES PRINCE (15-1) was in a pair of good Spa dirt races when last seen for Mott, and #5 BOURBON WISDOM (12-1) is a poorer version of Cowtown and adds blinkers.

Pk4 B horses: 1,9,5

Potential B add ins: #2 Sir Hoski (6-1), #1 Direct Approach (8-1)

The suggested tickets:

Main Ticket: 11,12,2,6 with 3,11,4 with 6,2 with 3,7,6,12,11,10 = $72
Race 7 B Backup: 3 with 3,11,4 with 6,2 with 3,7,6,12 = $12
Race 8 B Backup: 11,12,2,6 with 8,5 with 6,2 with 3,7,6,12 = $32
Race 9 B Backup: 11,12,2,6 with 3,11,4 with 6,2 with 3,7,6,12 = $48
Race 10 B Backup: 11,12,2,6 with 3,11,4 with 6,2 with 1,9,5 = $36

Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks Gulfstream Park - Race #1

Picks
Notes

#9 Wonder Blondy
Dangerous miss didn't do much running in two dirt starts then woke way up when a close 4th in her turf debut last time, when Lasix and blinkers were added, and that run was as good as the chalk's, and she'll be a much bigger price; upset special.

#10 Harmonic Thunder
The chalk was a solid 2nd in her return to the turf last time when taking blinkers-off, and a repeat makes her the one to beat, but she also has no margin for error on figures, drew poorly, and will be overbet as well; plenty scary, but hardly a lock.

#9 Wonder Blondy
Price player has been in contention of late while earning solid figures but has come up a bit short, but the blinkers come off today, she meets a field she's close to on paper, and wouldn't have to improve much to have a chance; exotics price appeal.

Race Summary
There's no reason the pick should be 12-1 on the ML when you view her off her lone turf run, as it was as good as 'Thunder's for sure, but even 6-1 or so is fair, so you can play her in all the slots, and especially to kick off the early Pk5 as well, since she tipped her hand last time, and has plenty of reason to improve off that turf tightener.

Gulfstream Park - Race #4

Picks
Notes

#5 Fast Fraction
Class dropper was a good 2nd against better when last seen in December, meets a very modest crew, even for this reduced level, and may not even be favored; love her chances here.

#7 Garner State Park
Pletcher charge will be bet hard off that solid debut 3rd at the level, and she has plenty of upside too, but the pick has a tactical edge, which may be too much to overcome; second-best.

#8 A Beautiful Day
Odd ML favorite has speed and drops in class, but that 7th last time was weak, and even her best two-back wasn't big, so while she won't be favored, she's still tough to trust; tread lightly.

Race Summary
The 5 really should be favored, so this 4-1 ML would be a welcome sight, and even 3-1 or so seems fair, as there's no one to fear here, she's best on paper as is, and has a tactical gear to sit off the 8 and get first run on the 7, so play her aggressively to win and place, while getting some built-in value by singling her in the early Pk5/Pk4, since she looks primed to take advantage of a suspect group.

Gulfstream Park - Race #5

Picks
Notes

#4 Maries Melody
Pace presser just missed last time from an impossible draw, is posted much better here, should be on or just off the pace, and will offer plenty of value too; look out.

#2 Philly Special
The chalk will be her hard on the drop for Pletcher and Saez and certainly figures, though she failed at short odds last time and will be overbet again; trying to beat on top.

#11 Show Maid
MSW dropper ran in place on debut against tons better, so this drop may wake her way up, and the figure was solid for this group, but this post is brutal; tabbing today.

Race Summary
That 6-1 ML seems fair on the pick, as she's in the mix with the best of them on paper and exits a huge run from an losing draw, so play her in all the slots, and especially to end rhe early Pk5/Pk4, and to kick off the big carryover Rainbow 6 as well, since budget players will be on the 2, even though she has no edge over anyone here.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks Tampa Bay Downs - Race #2

Picks
Notes

#1 Timeless Di
Very even try when sort of chilly on the board in the debut at this same level, and there are a couple of pace players drawn further outside that might lead to her getting a decent finishing trip up the inside.

#8 Freedom Lass
Not sure what to make of this one, as she was nowhere to be found in the debut run before improving in a big way with a forward trip in the mud against Illinois-bred stakes company. I'd be plenty skeptical of her on a fast main track, and those restricted IL-bred stakes are certainly not what they once were.

#5 Flaming Indy
A bit concerned about this one's inability to stay on in the lane, so she seems a bit more likely underneath than she does on top, and are you really excited to take anything like the 7/2 ML price after she was beaten five at this level at 35/1 last out?

Race Summary
Timeless Di can be playable at something like the 6/1 ML offering, as the forward players have some questions to answer and are likely to take a bit of cash, too.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #5

Picks
Notes

#3 Not Telling
Wasn't embarrassed when beaten about a half-dozen lengths in the debut run, and he'll return with the benefit of Lasix this afternoon. Thinking there's enough upside here to score.

#11 Molokai Night
Want nothing to do with this 18: 0-1-0 maiden on top, but he has been turning in some of his better efforts in recent starts and can land another piece of this with the blinkers coming off.

#6 Just Shoot Already
Speedy type tends to chase and fade without finding much late in the lane, and that seems like a very possible outcome again in this spot, and he's likely to take some cash again.

Race Summary
Not Telling isn't too far off what it would take to handle this group, and he has enough second-out upside while adding Lasix to think he's legit. I wouldn't be against taking a mildly aggressive stand and singling him here.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #8

Picks
Notes

#9 Town Classic
Might get a bit overbet to close out the card, but he's in line for a great trip from the outside in a spot where most of those racing inside and in front of him will be suspect late while he's winding up from close range.

#5 Small Fortune
Hit or miss recent form, but he has done really good work locally and owns just a slight rating ability that may serve him well with these.

#1 Ludington
Wonder if this guy is worth a little look underneath at a price, as he figures to save some ground in the early going and isn't too far removed from some efforts that would keep him in the mix for a slice.

Race Summary
Town Classic looks like the right one from the outside with his tactical ability, and while #6 Zorb also looks like a player, I don't completely trust him to rate nicely enough to score here.

Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks Oaklawn Park - Race #4

Picks
Notes

#7 Elitch
Ran an even 5th vs. starter allowance company in his 1st off the claim by Asmussen; takes a class dip and should find that these will come back to him late. One to hold off.

#8 D'urban Park
Usually is a big player when he gets on the front end and will have a good chance for that; can improve in his 3rd off the 11-month layoff.

#5 Senor Blanco
Doesn't show a lot of dirt on his form and comes in after racing vs. a higher level at Fair Grounds; was off the board in two since being claimed by Deville and drops to a discount.

Race Summary
Elitch was outrun by a decent company last out and dropping to a straight claiming price should move in up; can bring a solid late kick vs. these.

Oaklawn Park - Race #8

Picks
Notes

#12 Operation Stevie
Rallied mildly going two turns last out but closed stoutly at this distance two back and might be overlooked because of the outside post, which doesn't matter as much since he has no early speed. Likely to be a good price and will get a pace that can work in his favor.

#2 Curate
Was claimed by Miller last out, won a smiilar race two back and has three works since his latest; ready for a big effort.

#1 Gordy Florida
Usually shows a lot of early speed and will rush into contention from the inside; could be very tough if he brings his best.

Race Summary
Operation Stevie has some late pop in fast sprint races and they'll be rolling quickly early on in this one; tough if he gets a clear path late in the game.

Oaklawn Park - Race #9

Picks
Notes

#2 Captain Don
Flashed brief speed in the mud vs. older rivals and gets his 1st crack at Arkansas-bred 3-year-olds; problem won't get the lead but should be able to stay within range of the favorite and likely will the one to benefit if the pacesetter falters.

#10 Zaino Boyz
Cruised to an easy win in an optional claiming race at Gulfstream Park; won the Inaugural Stakes race at Tampa and likely will be a short-priced favorite vs. state-breds. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to early pressure if he gets it; if he gets none, he'll probably he tough to catch.

#7 Man in the Can
Broke his maiden at Remington last fall and was a non-threatening 6th in his only Oaklawn start; gets Rosario for this one and could come rolling.

Race Summary
Captain Don has been taking on older horses and should be able to get into a tracking position just off the leader; can benefit from having several starts over the strip.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #5 - Post: 2:25pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 66

Rating: http://www.trackmaster.com/images/golden.jpghttp://www.trackmaster.com/images/golden.jpghttp://www.trackmaster.com/images/golden.jpg

#6 JUST SHOOT ALREADY (ML=3/1)
#2 SIR SWAYSALOT (ML=4/1)
#8 ESOR (ML=8/1)

JUST SHOOT ALREADY - Nice return on investment for this jockey and handler pair. Aboard this horse on March 28th and Wales is back again in the irons in this race. Gelding has shown some pace. This shorter trip should be better for him. The latest rating of 70 is the highest last race speed rating in the group. Gelding is a few starts into a come back here. Should give a nice effort today. SIR SWAYSALOT - Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a sharp effort on Mar 29th. This gelding was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think he's ready for today's event. Took a significant drop in class rating last time around the track at Tampa Bay Downs. Returning to a similar class in this event. Should do well. Ranks number one in the field in earnings per start. A powerful effort in this event will add to the lifetime earnings. ESOR - Was in a $16,000 Maiden Claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs last out. That contest had a class rating of 72 and he is moving down in this race. A certain solid contender.

Vulnerable Contenders: #11 MOLOKAI NIGHT (ML=9/2), #3 NOT TELLING (ML=6/1), #9 ROW THE BOAT (ML=8/1),

MOLOKAI NIGHT - Difficult to play any horse to turn things around if there is no wager value to taking the chance. Finished fourth in his most recent race with a run-of-the-mill fig. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field. NOT TELLING - Could be tough for this horse to beat this bunch off of that last speed figure. Doubtful to improve enough to run a figure close to today's Equibase class figure, so put him on the likely underlays list. ROW THE BOAT - This horse will probably need at least one more start after the lackluster showing following the extended rest time. When examining today's Equibase class figure, he will have to garner a better speed figure than in the last race to compete in this dirt sprint.

# 7 ROAD GAME 7/2

# 12 DESCENT 10/1

# 2 GLOBUS 4/1

I favor ROAD GAME here. Has recorded formidable speed figures in dirt route races in the past. Could provide positive returns based on quite good recent Equibase Speed Figs with an average of 75. Hartman has one of the strongest winning percentages in this group of animals with entries running at this distance and surface. DESCENT - Seems to have a very good class edge based on the latest company kept. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Asmussen have shown sharp results recently.

#7 GARNER STATE PARK (ML=7/2)

GARNER STATE PARK - I believe this racer will be right there at the wire. Gets Lasix for the 2nd time, so Pletcher must have confidence in her. This filly has lots of ability on the grass. Could be long gone by the time they turn for home and hit the stretch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 A BEAUTIFUL DAY (ML=3/1), #5 FAST FRACTION (ML=4/1), #14 MARICOPA (ML=8/1),

A BEAUTIFUL DAY - This vulnerable equine gave a lackluster effort last time finishing seventh. Don't expect any betterment in today's race. Finished seventh in her most recent race with a substandard speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch. FAST FRACTION - The extended rest time will probably mean trouble for this steed. MARICOPA - This thoroughbred just hasn't looked fit lately.

http://www.trackmaster.com/images/tophat.jpgGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - GARNER STATE PARK - This racer figures to be competitive against these thoroughbreds in this race. She has the top speed rating in grass routes.

# 5 FOCUS ON ME 123 5/2

# 10 THE CASH FERRY 8/1

# 4 KGS PERFECT STORM 20/1

FOCUS ON ME 123 has a strong shot to take this race. Overall the speed figures of this equine look very strong in this race. Could best this group of horses in this race based on the Equibase speed fig - 76 - of his last affair. Gillis has this gelding running well and is a very strong choice based on the solid speed figs recorded in short races lately. THE CASH FERRY - Overall the Equibase Speed Figures of this pony look competitive in this contest. Has garnered strong Equibase speed figs in short races in the past. KGS PERFECT STORM - The average Equibase class rating of 66 makes this one hard to beat. Has run very well when running a short race.

#3 YOUNG AMERICAN (ML=3/1)
#2 EXPEDITER (ML=6/1)
#5 AMERICANO (ML=7/2)
#4 GAME DAY DRAMA (ML=5/2)

YOUNG AMERICAN - Spieth and Rini partnered up are a punter's friend.EXPEDITER - Looking at today's class figure, this campaigner is meeting an easier bunch than last race out at Finger Lakes.I like the fact that this gelding's last fig, 83, is tops in this bunch.AMERICANO - Earnings per race is something that I believe can be a valuable handicapping factor. This horse is ranked at the top in this bunch.GAME DAY DRAMA - When this jock and trainer combine forces you have to take a look. Mena and Vaccarezza have been terrific together.A racer coming back this promptly after a sharp effort is a good sign.I like horses that return to a similar class level after dropping at least five Equibase class figure points like this one did last time around the track. I believe he'll be competitive at this class.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 PASSIONATE HACHI (ML=4/1)

PASSIONATE HACHI - No good fortune for this steed in a short distance race over the last sixty days tells me that this gelding is in a tough situation

#3 HYPERLOOP (ML=9/2)
#5 FLAMING INDY (ML=7/2)
#1 TIMELESS DI (ML=6/1)

HYPERLOOP - Camacho and Dini perform well when they work together. It's hard to beat a +197 ROI for a jock and trainer.I like this first timer mainly because her workouts for this have been here at Tampa Bay Downs.I know the outfit is serious today. The filly gets Lasix for the first time.FLAMING INDY - Have to like this filly today. If you take a look at her PP lines you see a definite trend, getting closer with each race.Have to give this filly a shot. Ran a solid race in the last race within the last month. This filly is rounding her way back into shape. Should perform well today.TIMELESS DI - That last morning drill tells me this filly is set for a top race.Coa is back for another event today after racing atop this equine for the first time on March 25th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. You always have to be on the lookout for money generating jockey/handler combinations; we have one right here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 FREEDOM LASS (ML=3/1), #2 FAST FIONNUALA (ML=4/1), #7 FERLAND'S PROSPECT (ML=6/1)

FREEDOM LASS - This filly hasn't had any recent good fortune in short distance contests. I find it hard to bet on her in this race.FAST FIONNUALA - I'm predicting a less than stellar go out of her today.FERLAND'S PROSPECT - Didn't land in the top three on Jan 1st at Tampa Bay Downs. Followed it up with another lackluster effort. When looking at today's Equibase class figure, she will have to earn a much better speed figure than last time around the track to battle in this dirt sprint.
https://www.trackmaster.com/images/tophat.jpgThe Brain - TIMELESS DI - Some variables to consider. This filly is going on Lasix for the 2nd time. My calculation shows that any time Proctor does this, the animal is conditioned properly and ready to go.

#3 MOMENTO (ML=5/2)
#6 KARATBARS (ML=3/1)

MOMENTO - Trainer Danner moves this thoroughbred to a lower class level to face a lower class of horses. Look for a good effort in this race.KARATBARS - Gogas must have known this filly would run well at this track. Won her last race here on March 13th and now goes for two in a row.atop this animal on March 13th and Spieth is back again in the irons in today's contest.I always like to see a filly getting Lasix for the 2nd time. This one fits the bill.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 MY SISTER'S KEEPER (ML=7/2), #8 SAMMY'S TOWN (ML=9/2), #2 LA BELLE DE COURSE (ML=6/1)

MY SISTER'S KEEPER - This horse likes to be there at the wire, but doesn't usually finish on top. Don't play in the top spot. This mare finished outside the top 3 on September 1st and wasn't close to winning in the last race either.SAMMY'S TOWN - She showed not much at all in the last clash.she's in all probability going to get cooked at the front.LA BELLE DE COURSE - Tough to like the downward spiraling flow (67/56/46) of speed ratings.
https://www.trackmaster.com/images/tophat.jpgHal - KARATBARS - This filly has the top speed figure last race with a very good 70. She is the top wager here.

#5 DANVILLE (ML=10/1)
#8 GLENN'S CAPER (ML=15/1)
#4 HUSBAND IN LAW (ML=8/1)

DANVILLE - Possibly a peak effort for this gelding today. Been getting closer and the end with each recent start. This jockey and handler have a beneficial return on investment when they combine forces.Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a good contest on March 18th.61-67-78 are last three speed ratings. Improving each time out is something he should do again right here.GLENN'S CAPER - Dropped in class in the last race, and keeps in that lower class in today's race. A good sign this horse is comfortable and ready to go.HUSBAND IN LAW - I think the shorter distance will help this gelding stay the distance.Like the way this gelding's finish positions keep getting better. That's a sure sign of improving form.using this rider/conditioner combination is a good move.I really like that latest outing on March 20th at Tampa Bay Downs where he ran first.Recent Equibase speed figures show powerful pattern of improvement.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 NO REGRETS (ML=3/1), #10 TRAVEL AGENT (ML=7/2), #3 FINE SPIRIT (ML=4/1)

NO REGRETS - 3/1 is not enough of a value to take on most any horse that has run poorly in back to back races.Has tasted defeat as the favorite in back to back races. A repeat is probably in store.TRAVEL AGENT - The fourth place finish position in the last affair was not the best.hard to keep chasing this kind of 'hanger' horse.FINE SPIRIT - Not the best 'situation' in this affair.

#6 JUST SHOOT ALREADY (ML=3/1)
#2 SIR SWAYSALOT (ML=4/1)
#8 ESOR (ML=8/1)

JUST SHOOT ALREADY - Good return on investment for this jock and handler tandem.atop this thoroughbred on March 28th and Wales is right back in the irons this race.gelding has shown some speed. This shorter distance should be better for him.The last speed fig of 70 is the best last race fig in the group.gelding is a few starts into a return to racing here. Should give a good performance today.SIR SWAYSALOT - Have to make this gelding a solid contender; he comes off a nice effort on Mar 29th.This gelding was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think he's ready for today's event.Took a significant drop in class rating in the last race at Tampa Bay Downs. Returning to a similar level in this field. I'd expect a good performance.is ranked at the top in earnings per start. A powerful outing in this field can add to the lifetime earnings.ESOR - Was in a $16,000 Maiden Claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs in the last race. That race had a class rating of 72 and he is moving down right here in this race. A certain contender.

Vulnerable Contenders: #11 MOLOKAI NIGHT (ML=9/2), #3 NOT TELLING (ML=6/1), #9 ROW THE BOAT (ML=8/1)

MOLOKAI NIGHT - Tough to play any horse to turn things around if there is no wager value to taking the shot.Finished fourth in his most recent effort with a somewhat easily forgotten speed fig. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this group.NOT TELLING - Could be tough for this entrant to beat this field off of that last speed fig. Doubtful to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class figure, so put him on the vulnerable contenders list.ROW THE BOAT - This horse will probably need at least one more race after the lackluster showing following the very long layoff. When looking at today's Equibase class figure, he will have to notch a better rating than last time out to be competitive in this dirt sprint.

Ended up first on Mar 18th.This horse may have too much power on the turf for the rest of the field. Coming out of the turn for home, he could put these away.A definite class advantage goes to this horse. A pretty good sign he will be very competitive in this grass race.CARAMELITO - This thoroughbred coming off a strong performance in the last thirty days is a win candidate in my book.VALIANT VIRTUE - With a big class drop in class rating points from his March 7th race at Tampa Bay Downs. Based on that info, I will give this one the advantage.I like the hard fact that this gelding's last speed rating, 90, is tops in this bunch.PUTIN ONLINE - This gelding is in top form right now. Ended up first last out and comes back promptly.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 BRONX RUMBLE (ML=5/1), #1 OLYMPIC ROMP (ML=6/1), #2 FIRST HOMESTEAD (ML=6/1)

BRONX RUMBLE - This horse showed little last time out finishing fifth. No reason to expect any betterment in today's event.OLYMPIC ROMP - This racer ran a substandard speed rating last time around the track. He shouldn't improve and will likely lose in today's race running that number.FIRST HOMESTEAD - Caution must be used since bandages were used on February 26th.
https://www.trackmaster.com/images/tophat.jpgThe Turf Man - VALIANT VIRTUE - Investing on this noble animal is a smart move. He possesses the best speed figure in grass routes.

#11 THE EXCEPTION (ML=5/2)
#9 SACCO AND VANZETTI (ML=2/1)

THE EXCEPTION - After the event aboard this equine on Mar 29th, the rider is going to know the gelding much better. This gelding is in first-rate form right now. Finished third in the last race and comes back rapidly.Have to like the way Clark has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Animal is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today.SACCO AND VANZETTI - Each one of this gelding's recent finish positions has been progressively better. That 76 fig this gelding garnered in his last contest tells me he's a chief player this time around.Minieri brings him back again. I propose you stick with this strong gelding.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 INDIAN BUZZ (ML=3/1), #5 DRAFTABLE (ML=8/1)

INDIAN BUZZ - Trying to beat this horse in today's event at the reward of 3/1.DRAFTABLE - Mediocre speed figure last out at Tampa Bay Downs at 6 furlongs. Don't feel this entrant will improve too much in today's event.

#9 TOWN CLASSIC (ML=5/2)
#5 SMALL FORTUNE (ML=5/1)
#8 DIVINE AMBITION (ML=6/1)

TOWN CLASSIC - I took a look at this gelding's finishes. He's almost always in the top three.I am keen on that most recent effort on March 25th at Tampa Bay Downs where he finished second. It looks like Camacho had to come to know this gelding on Mar 25th when riding him for the initial time. Back aloft again today. This gelding's last speed rating is strong enough to triumph here, I'll bet on him back again this time out.I may not be the best handicapper in the world, but I know a good horse when I see one. Last three races before this one have been great for this horse. Based on that, should do well right here.SMALL FORTUNE - Jockey and trainer do well when they partner up. Gallardo and Baxter have been consistent together.Look at this pattern of improvement. 64/76/93 are the last three speed ratings.DIVINE AMBITION - This magnificent animal should be rocking and rolling in the lane.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ZORB (ML=3/1), #2 WEEKEND WIZARD (ML=8/1), #3 KITCHEN FIRE (ML=8/1)

ZORB - Not easy to play any horse in a sprint event at 3/1 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last 60 days.Speed kills. Plenty of zip in this race compromises this horse's chances.WEEKEND WIZARD - This gelding hasn't had any positive results in short distance contests in the last 60 days.KITCHEN FIRE - Difficult to play any horse to turn things around if there is no value to taking the chance.Hard to recommend any horse with dropping speed figures of 97/93/85.Finished fourth in his most recent performance with a common speed figure. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch.

#7 MOON IN THE SKY (ML=6/1)

RANDOM AFFAIR - Vazquez is up for another race today after sitting atop this animal for the first ride on Apr 4th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. This gelding is in excellent form right now. Finished third last time out and comes back rapidly.SLIGHTLY CRAFTY - Ran last time around the track against much better company at Oaklawn Park. The move down the ladder based on class should suit him well. You may want to disregard that last event at Oaklawn Park on the mud where he finished out of the money. Should do well in this event on a non-sloppy track.MOON IN THE SKY - This gelding is in fine condition. Finished fourth on April 4th.You should discount that last event at Oaklawn Park in the slop where he finished out of the money. Should do well in this race without the off-track conditions. While the finish was disappointing, this race horse made a good stretch move in the last race at Oaklawn Park. Will most certainly do better in today's race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 ROCKTHEPULPIT (ML=3/1), #10 BRAVURA CREEK (ML=4/1), #12 BLANCO BRONCO (ML=5/1)

ROCKTHEPULPIT - This less than sharp equine didn't go to the head of the pack and didn't make up any ground in the lane last time he ran.BRAVURA CREEK - I don't possess a positive feeling about this entrant in this race.BLANCO BRONCO - This gelding earned a speed rating in his last event which likely isn't good enough in today's event.

#7 VIOLENT STORM (ML=4/1)
#1A PEPPERED (ML=9/2)

DEFENDER - Don't often see a profitable return on investment like +48. This jockey/conditioner pair has done well together over the last twelve months. This colt is in first-rate condition right now. Finished third last time out and comes back soon. That 83 fig this colt garnered in his last race tells me he's a major player this time around.HONORING MAJOR - You'll be making money right and left by turning your cash onto this rider/handler combination.VIOLENT STORM - I expect this thoroughbred to stun some people in today's event.PEPPERED - The jockey/trainer tandem of Vazquez and Ortiz has a strong ROI together.Vazquez comes to saddle up after getting to know the gelding in the last event.A thoroughbred coming back this rapidly after a solid effort is a good sign.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 WAR VETERAN (ML=5/1), #10 HEALING (ML=8/1), #3 COWORKER (ML=8/1)

WAR VETERAN - Improbable that the speed figure he garnered on March 15th will be good enough in this contest.HEALING - This horse hasn't been near the victor at the finish recently.unlikely that the speed figure he registered on February 9th will be enough in this event.COWORKER - Going to have a hard go of it with all the speedballs in this event. This horse hasn't had nary a single blow out after running so well on March 28th.

#12 DESCENT (ML=10/1)
#10 MR. UNUSUAL (ML=9/2)

BE AN INSPIRATION - Quite frequently, I play a maiden that finished second easily ahead of the third place finisher in his last contest. This horse is at the top in EPS (earnings per start). He looks strong in today's clash.DESCENT - Taking a trip to a lower class rank; has the capability to make his presence felt.MR. UNUSUAL - This thoroughbred coming off a nice contest in the last 30 days is a solid contender in my book.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 ROAD GAME (ML=7/2), #2 GLOBUS (ML=4/1), #1 MAJESTIC DAY (ML=5/1)

ROAD GAME - This probable favorite hasn't visited the track in awhile. No morning activity since last race.GLOBUS - You always think this equine has a shot to win, but he falters often.MAJESTIC DAY - You always believe this horse has a shot to be victorious, but he falters regularly.

#13 CARMELO (ML=8/1)

ELITCH - Santana was aboard this gelding last time out and was impressed enough to take the horse right back.SENOR BLANCO - This gelding won on November 28th at a higher class level and the same 1 1/16 miles distance as today. This gelding's last figure is high enough to win here, I'll bet on him back again this time. The return on investment when Talamo and Deville get together is out of sight.UNION SALUTE - Richard rode this horse for the first time in the last race and comes right back today.Williams seems to have this gelding primed for a big effort. His workout pattern is wonderful.CARMELO - Gelding won on October 25th at this class and distance.DANGERFIELD - Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a strong contest on March 28th.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 GOLD BACKED (ML=9/2), #3 TAPITOR (ML=6/1)

GOLD BACKED - Won't be easy for this thoroughbred to beat this field off of that last rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class figure, so put him on the likely underpriced contenders list.TAPITOR - Recent lessening Equibase speed figures of 86/78/61 give a clue that this horse may be going off form.

#2 THE MARY ROSE (ML=3/1)

SEKANI - Ran last time around the track against a higher rated class of horses at Oaklawn Park. The move down the class scale should suit her well. After a nice race two starts ago, this horse bounced. Now today, I expect another good performance.PROUD VICTORIA - Looking at today's class figure, this racer is encountering an easier bunch than last time out at Oaklawn Park.she has the top (EPS) earnings per start. Check out this one.CHOCTAW CHARLIE - I like to bet on this handicapping angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a solid outing within the last 30 days.A repeat of that most recent effort on Mar 28th where she garnered a rating of 77 looks high enough to triumph in this race.THE MARY ROSE - Garcia should be able to place this filly right behind the early pace. Ideally, Garcia will rate behind the leaders, then strike on the turn. This filly is in nice physical condition. Ran second on April 2nd.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 GET ONE MORE (ML=8/1)

GET ONE MORE - Not easy to wager on any vulnerable equine in a short distance event if she hasn't hit the board in a sprint in the last 60 days.Any horse coming out of a route race should show some early zip to compete with the sprinters.

FIRST CITIZEN - This colt recorded a good speed figure of 85 in his last contest. That speed fig should be lofty enough to win this time out.DREAMONMEBABY - When this jockey and trainer are put together you have to take a look. Lanerie and Hartman have been fantastic together.Don't throw this horse out due to his last affair at Oaklawn Park where he ended up fourth in the slop. Expect better today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #11 SHACKS WAY (ML=6/1), #10 SMART CALL (ML=8/1), #9 MONEY COMETH (ML=8/1)

SHACKS WAY - Hard to put your money on this early speedster. Too much zip in the event. In the last affair this horse finished seventh. Probably won't make a winning move in today's event.MONEY COMETH - This colt hasn't been showing me anything in the last couple of outings.

JUNIOR GILLIAM - It looks like Delacruz had to come to know this gelding on April 3rd when riding him for the initial time. Back on again today.I like to bet on this angle, a racer coming back off a good effort within the last 30 days.Came home in quick time in the last race. A positive sign.SUMMER REVOLUTION - Trainer Asmussen moves this horse down in class ranks to face a weaker class today. Look for a sharp performance racing against these lower level horses.Last time he ran at this distance he recorded a fig good enough to win today's contest. This horse earns a lot of money per race around the track. At the top in this affair.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 ACADEMY BAY (ML=9/2), #11 SACRED KIKI BIRD (ML=6/1), #14 PLATINUM NIGHTS (ML=6/1)

ACADEMY BAY - Pace makes the race. Tough for this speedball to be able to handle the suicidal fractions from the rest of this group.SACRED KIKI BIRD - This gelding showed little last time out.PLATINUM NIGHTS - Not easy to back any entrant in a sprint event if he hasn't hit the board in a sprint in the last couple of months.

Multiple wins on different racing tracks tell me this animal likes to switch it up, so that's a good sign. The 104 last race fig looks strong in the TrackMaster PPs.TOUCHING RAINBOWS - Has happened upon a good spot in today's event.ZIPP ON BY - All systems look good for this gelding. Last morning work, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready.Every now and then I take some time off, when I come back to the track I feel refreshed. I think it's the same with this gelding as he always seems to run well after a layoff.Changes tracks from last out at Churchill Downs to here. Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CURATE (ML=7/2), #3 EARLY MISCHIEF (ML=9/2), #7 BOYFRIEND MATERIAL (ML=6/1)

CURATE - This gelding hasn't had any recent favorable outcomes in short distance races. Tough to wager on him in this race.registered a pedestrian speed figure in the last race in a $62,500 Optional Claiming race on March 14th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that figure.EARLY MISCHIEF - There's speed, zip, and more early speed in this clash. Reading the recent past performance lines, it seems like he likes to visit the winner's circle on different ovals. This colt's last speed rating recorded on March 14th is tops in last race speed figures. This colt is obviously on the improve with speed figs of 55, 84, 93 last 3 out.MAN IN THE CAN - Mount didn't end up on the board in last race, but did beat half the field, and made up ground down the homestretch. A slight improvement and this horse should be right there at the finish line.TEMPT FATE - Deville brings him back again. I recommend you stick with this strong colt.

Should rebound off last race where he did run off the board, but was within five lengths at the finish line.Ranked the highest in (EPS) earnings per start. Another confirmation that this horse is classy.MIDNIGHT LAS VEGAS - This gelding is in fine physical condition, having run a nice race on Mar 28th, finishing first. This animal already beat the morning-line favorite last time around the track at Oaklawn Park.
