Aforementioned favorite couldn't beat an 0-for-18 maiden last time, and lost easily when 3rd too, so taking 2-1 at 10-0-2-3 isn't appealing; trying to beat.


#1 Majestic View
Logical sort adds blinkers after chasing a blazing winner last time, and with just three starts there's upside here, but the rail is no bargain; mixed signals.


Race Summary
That 7-2 ML seems very fair, and note Rosario takes over for Carmouche, so there's some serious intent now second-off the break, so play him aggressively to win and place, and especially to kick off the early Pk5, as this is a race there for the taking, and he appears set for a lifetime best today.


Saratoga - Race #7

Speedster wired N1X foes last time to make it 2-for-2 over the course/distance, drew perfectly, will be involved throughout, and note one of the wins here came over a course with some give in it, which she's likely to get here; local hat trick time.

Pace player is another who will be on or near the lead, and she may shake out as the inside speed, as there's not a lot of it here, and with an improving figure pattern, while making her third start of the year, she should fire a big shot; huge chance.


#1 Rose Flower
Dropper was in too tough in the GIII last time, so this group will be more to her liking, and CC/Rosario have enjoyed a huge meet together, so she certainly fits, though her lack of early speed may leave her with too much to do late; runs out of room.


Race Summary
The price and race flow should both work for the 7, as will the post, and while she rises in class she has upside still and clearly likes the local lawn, so give her a look in all the slots, and especially in the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since a win would go a long way in adding plenty of value to both sequences.

The heavy chalk for Pletcher was a rising 3yo before going away after running 3rd to a pair of good ones in the GII Tampa Bay Derby in March, but he's worked well for this, drew perfectly, and sure doesn't meet much; imposing favorite.


#4 Will Sing for Wine
Longshot has done better on the turf but does have some decent main track form, and is bred for this too, and the last time he was on dirt he was on a speedy highway going one-turn at Bel., so he could wake up here; exotics price appeal.


#5 Creative Style
The more logical EX partner was just 2nd to a runaway winner over the track/distance for 32k and now rises in class off the Atras claim, which is a 25% move, and, aside from the pick, there's no one to fear here; would be no surprise for 2nd.

You won't get rich on the 2 but he looks more like 3/5 than 7/5, so make an aggressive win bet if the tote allows, though you can get some built-in value by singling him in the late Pk5/Pk4, and using a price like the 4 underneath in the exotics, as it looks like a name your score type of spot for the pick, who could develop into a serious second-half 3yo.

Another debuter out of the Motion barn, he's got a versatile kind of pedigree that should serve him well at this trip and can probably land a piece of this.

Another serious finisher, he impressed from off the pace in that debut run last October. Perhaps he has some ability to sit a bit closer this time around.

Benny Havens should be able to find the front end here in a spot where the major players all want to settle and finish from off the splits. The price should be right.

Has enough tactical pace to work out a trip from close range with these, and he might offer an overlaid price in a spot where the top pair may dominate the wagering action.

The WIngs have lost their last two games, falling 96-92 to the Las Vegas Aces and falling to 5-10 on the season.

Dallas is averaging 81.9 points per game ranking 6th in scoring offense in the WNBA this season. The Sky are one team that has not really lost that many games since coming back. However, the Sky have ended up with an overall record of 10-5. Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum were outstanding in round one, but they didn’t do much in that Aug. 7 win and Boston still dominated. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five against opponents with winning records and 15-5 ATS in their last 20 as underdogs. Toronto is 4-10-1 ATS in its last 15 conference semifinal games and 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings between the two teams. This has the look of a closeout game for L.A. They finally unlocked Paul George in game five and there are so many question marks for the Mavericks right now. That is a very good sign if they are going to be a title contender because players not named Kawhi Leonard have been very inconsistent. This is the biggest line of the series but it correlates to L.A. looking the most like what we thought they would be. For Dallas less so. As this is being written the status of Kristaps Porzingis is still uncertain and even though they won a game without him, it is a challenge trying to win without your second-best scorer. A challenge made even greater by the fact that Luka Doncic is inured too. If it weren’t the playoffs the young star would probably take a week or two away from the game. This Dallas team might be a team on the rise but this looks like the beginning of the end for this season. I am fading them here even though it is the largest spread of the series.

I am sure it got everyone’s attention that the Clippers scored more than 150 points in the recent win. They are a very capable offensive team and Dallas’s commitment to defense is not very high. One thing of note from that game is that L.A. made 22 of 35 three-point field goals. That is insanely hot shooting unlikely to occur again. Throw in Dallas’s limitations and the fact that the effort might not be there late in an elimination game and I think the under is the play here.

Toronto was expected to dominate Brooklyn heading into the postseason, but they weren’t expected to do it how they did. The Raptors scored an impressive average of 126+ points per game in its four playoff victories against Brooklyn, and there is no doubt they are a vital title-threat if Fred Van Fleet and the crew plan to continue scoring the way they did in round one.

Joel Embiid and the Sixers were expected to at least make Boston sweat a little bit in the opening round, even with the absence of Ben SImmons, but Jayson Tatum’s supporting cast was proven to be drastically superior to Joel’s young squad of role players, winning by an average margin of 11.75 points in a four-game beatdown of their division rival, resulting in firing of Brett Brown.

All the talk leading up to this series is surrounding the strength of Toronto’s defense, but let’s not forget about Boston’s deep defensive unit. The Celtics rank 4th in the NBA in defensive rating (106.5), trailing the second ranked Raptors by just a thin margin (104.7).

Boston held an always explosive Philadelphia team under 102 points in three out of four contests in the first-round of the playoffs while scoring an average of 112 points per game.

I expect them to put out an even better defensive effort against Toronto in this series, as they will likely need one to compete with the defending champs.

My Thursday freebie comes in hockey as I expect both Las Vegas and Vancouver to see a lower-scoring game in Game Three as the teams stay Under the total in this Western Conference Semifinal series,

Vegas scored 5 times in their Game One shutout win, as the game did hold Under the total.

Vancouver scored 5 times in their Game Two win, as that game did land Over thanks to a pair of Golden Knights goals.

I have a feeling that BOTH teams will be much better on the defensive end this evening and we will see a low-scoring contest that holds Under the total.

Remember, Vegas had allowed just 11 goals total prior to their big 5-spot surrendered on Tuesday and had been 4-2 Under the total in those 6 previous playoff games.

Expect things to revert back to form in this meeting as goals become just a little harder to come by and we see the Knights and Canucks hold Under in Game Three.

I like that most recent race on August 9th at Saratoga where she ran second. Traditional angle - 3rd or 4th start after a vacation generally leads to a big effort. A live one today. SECURE CONNECTION - Ortiz comes to get aboard after getting to know the filly in the last event. Filly emerged victorious her last race here on Jul 16th as a shipper. I think she looks like a winner once again. In the last race on the sod, this equine was strong. Anything close in this race, and this one should win. OVERHEATED - This mare should be in tip-top shape, this far into her form cycle. This horse has increased her speed figs in each of the last 2 races. That kind of progress is worth taking a look at. JADES GELLY - Ward has a very great win pct in turf sprints. This filly should be conditioned properly and ready to go. Filly's last workout was second fastest of the day for the distance. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where she finished in her last race (fourth). Should rebound in this field, with some pretty good odds.

STRONG ENDING - No need to look any further. This pony has my dough. Way too much early speed. Kopaj drops him down to this class level. You don't need too much more handicapping information to believe this animal should run well at this level. In the last race, finished sixth on the soft turf at Gulfstream Park. Has to do better right here in this race. A repeat of that most recent effort on Jul 26th where he notched a speed fig of 88 looks lofty enough to score in this clash. THREE DEEP - I think Gulfstream Park players know a good thing when they see the jockey/trainer twosome of Jaramillo and Zerpa. Their win pct together has been strong. This mount collects a lot of money per race. I believe he will add to that total right here.

I know this is a really ugly one here taking the Rangers but there are a couple things in our advantage. Bassitt for the A's isn't exactly in great form right now with a 4.86 ERA his last 3 starts. He has struggled big time against the Rangers in his career with a 6.48 ERA. Lyes on the other hand has been really pathetic but he gets up to pitch against the A's with a career 1.45 ERA.

I'll back the A's as they look to take this series from the Rangers in Texas on Thursday night. Chris Bassitt will take the ball for Oakland. He has quietly recorded a stellar 2.97 ERA and 1.08 WHIP this season and has improved on his walks, hits and home runs allowed per nine innings compared to last year. His strikeouts are down slightly but back around his career average in that department. Jordan Lyles will counter for Texas. The journeyman starter has once again struggled this season with his strikeouts per nine innings way down and his walks up considerably. He's giving up a whopping 12.2 hits per nine innings and should struggle against an A's club that ranks 11th in the majors in runs per game. Take Oakland (8*).
