Experience is on the side of Inter in this matchup as they made it all the way to the Final of the Europa League last just two months ago while Gladbach failed to make it out of the group stage and this is their first Champions League appearance in four years. I'm high on Inter to make a deep run in this Champions League and the loser of this match may already be looking at a tough uphill battle to get out of this tough group with Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Inter was the best team in Serie A last year according to xG and are a very likely candidate to dethrone Juventus' run of nine straight titles. They are off a tough loss at home to AC Milan but played very well and created more chances in the game, just failed to convert. They have been playing well so far this season while Gladbach has been less impressive and seem to be lacking that extra gear to win and put away teams. They opened the season with an 0-3 loss at Dortmund, failed to beat Union Berlin and Wolfsburg at home, with their only win at lowly Koln.
Last season on the road Gladbach was just the 7th best team in the Bundesliga with an 8-3-6 while Inter was very strong at home at 11-6-2. Last year against another Bundesliga team they won 2-0 in the group stage at home against Dortmund and I think we may see a similar result here. They had a very tough group last year as well with Dortmund and Barcelona and that experience could be the difference to see them through this year and it starts with a Matchday 1 win over Gladbach.

Tony Gonsolin was 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA during the regular season but he has struggled in the postseason, allowing seven earned runs and six walks in 6.1 IP. Tony Gonsolin pitched two innings in relief against the Rays last season and allowed two earned runs in two innings. Blake Snell was 4-2 with a 3.24 ERA during the regular season and 2-2 with a 3.20 ERA in the playoffs. He has had some trouble with command and he can get in trouble with walks. He allowed three home runs to the Yankees, but he had also faced them this season. He faced the Dodgers once in 2019, struck out four batters in two innings. The Dodgers will have a quick hook with Gonsolin, and they’ve crushed lefties this postseason to a .960 OPS vs. lefties.
