Pino claim (19%) gets a major trainer upgrade from Brown, who is just 7% on the year, and this one drew perfectly, and takes a confident class rise too; look out.


#2 P}rinter
The horse to beat had some big form for Pattershall and now goes off the DeMasi claim (18%), so this is another who is getting a big boost; figures a real handful.


#4 Eden Ridge
Class dropper has been facing eons better on the NYRA circuit, so this group will help, though his decided lack of early speed is a major worry; may run out of room.


Race Summary
That 7-2 ML seems fair on the pick, as he has some improving to do, but there's a good chance he does it with Pino now calling the shots, so give him a look to win and place, and especially to kick off the early Pk4 as well, as he seems primed to move up in a big way here.

Pace player was facing better in Florida and now starts for a sharp Flores-Coba barn, in a race where there's not much early speed signed on; too tough for these.


#8 No Fly Zone
Logical contender has run 3rd in his last two without threatening, though both of those runs make him a huge threat here if the pick doesn't fire; the main danger.


#2 Jump Shot
Deep closer has been a distant 2nd in two straight, so clearly he's a player, though he's going to be left with way too much to do off the far turn; underneath only.


Race Summary
You certainly won't get rich on the 9 but he's simply a better, faster horse than this group, so play him aggressively to win and place if you sniff that 2-1 ML, though you can get some built-in value by singling him to end the early Pk4, as that will allow for some added coverage in the deeper preceding races, as he looks to have this field over a barrel.

Versatile sort moved to Bouchard and almost blew up the board when a close 4th with a big figure, and that surprise run may get you a better price than you should right back; upset special.


#7 Factor This In
Pace presser did well to draw outside for his style, and that 2nd last time at the level would make him tough here, though the price figures on the short side; plenty scary but no lock either.


#11 Souper Fly Over
Fort Erie invader has been posting some big form north of the border but was 2nd in his lone run here, though this wide draw, as well as the underlaid price, don't entice; tread lightly here.


Race Summary
The price will be right on the 2, even though a repeat of his last may well win this, so give him a look in all the slots, and especially to end the late Pk4 as well, as this is a wide open field and he fits on paper off his last, yet a win might go a long way in really blowing up the sequence.

Showed some tracking pace before fading in the debut run at Thistledown, but she can improve with that run under her belt in a spot where there only appears to be one serious threat to beat.

Pace will go from the rail for a tough barn, and though she's the one to beat, the price is going to be short, and she's no sure thing.


#10 Familia Virtual
Showed little in the debut run, but she'll return now in an easier spot while adding Lasix. Chance to improve for a small share.


Race Summary
Letsgoandgetthedo and Forty Pieces should be tough to get around, but the former should offer a better price and has just as much upside here.

Pace is all or nothing on the front end, but she's a good fit with this kind and has some chance to run these off their feet.

Presser should be able to keep tabs on the top choice early on, and like the top choice, she caught a tough, runaway winner last out.

Hit or miss form is the big concern, but her best tries keep her in the mix with these, and she draws well to avoid any scramble inside.


Race Summary
Coach Machen should have a go for it on the front end, and she's interesting enough if offering the 3/1 ML price at post time.

She just scored at this level by a head, but that race is a bit more of an exception in her form rather than a rule, so she's no sure thing to back it up.

Jockey hops back atop after getting to know the fine animal by riding in the last race. That's always a green light. Earnings per race is something that I feel can be an important selection factor. This thoroughbred is ranked at the top in this group. Horse has improved at least two speed rating points in last two races. I look for that trend to continue in today's race. The 53 most recent race speed rating looks sound in the TrackMaster PPs.

PRAY WITH FAITH - Have to like the way McClellan has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Horse is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today. This thoroughbred absolutely loves this track. All his trips to the winner's circle have been here at Penn National. GONE INZANE - This jock/trainer duo has been producing a very profitable ROI, right at +357. Just check out his most recent speed rating, 77. That one looks good in this bunch. Trainer Zalalas moves this one down the class scale to face a lower rated field. Look for a good race this time out. TWEET KITTEN - Graci drops him down to this level. You don't need too much more from the horse's history to figure that this thoroughbred will be one to beat at this level. This horse is in good physical condition, having run a nice race on October 14th, finishing third.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 EXPEDITER (ML=3/1), #7 PAPADOPALOUS (ML=4/1), #2 ROANIE (ML=9/2),

EXPEDITER - A strong horse that's been running well, but he's been off the track in the mornings recently. PAPADOPALOUS - Don't believe this horse will do much running today. That last speed rating was disappointing when compared with today's Equibase class figure. ROANIE - When examining today's class rating, he will have to record a much better speed rating than last time around the track to vie in this dirt sprint.

I think TRAFFIC TROUBLE is a very good choice. Pino has him trained very well to break swiftly out of the starting gate. Put up a respectable speed rating last time out. Could provide positive gains based on very strong recent speed figures with an average of 72. CURLIN'S KNIGHT - Will most likely compete solidly in the early speed clash which bodes well with this group. Garnered a sound Equibase Speed Figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this affair. DRUMMOND - Formidable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt route races make this horse a contender.

The Over is 6-1-1 the last 8 times Eastern Michigan has been listed in the underdog role and 6 of the Eagles last 7 away from home have also landed Over the posted price.

Last season's meeting between the teams ended up landing in the Under column in a 29-23 Ball State win, but they Under snapped a string of 3 straight series Overs and the Over is still 8-2 the past 10 times these rivals have faced one another.

Count me in on an Over tonight in this battle of the MAC birds.

The Rockets were a major money-burner to close out last season - 0-6-1 against the line their last 7 games - and their 6-6 straight up mark left them as the lone bowl-eligible FBS team to NOT get invited to a bowl game!


I am sure that fact left a bit of a chip on Toledo's shoulders and the fact they came out last week for Coach Jason Candle and smoked Bowling Green, 38-3 at home. There is the matter that the Rockets have been grounded on the road where they have lost 9 of their last 10 as the visitor straight up failing 6 straight against the spread! But this is a new season and playing in nearly empty stadiums - not that the MAC packs them in - could indeed work in the Rockets favor this time around.


One thing I know that works is the series numbers for Toledo when facing Western Michigan, as the Rockets have won and covered in each of the last 3 series meetings and stand at 8-2 straight up the past 10 times they have faced the Broncos.


As for Western Michigan, they opened the new season with major question marks as they came into this year minus quarterback Jon Wassink and of course MAC offensive player of the year LeVante Bellamy. WMU used a trio of RB's (Jefferson, Tyler and Kincaide) who combined for 180 yards rushing and they each scored a touchdown. Soph QB Kaleb Eleby was able to throw for 262 yards and 3 TD's, but it should be pointed out that all of those offensive stats were accomplished against a piss-poor Akron team that is 0-for-infinity in wins the past couple of seasons.


With better Western Michigan teams not being able to break through in this series for the past few seasons, I am going to lean on Toledo to be able to maintain their series dominance over the Broncos.
