The Bulldogs lost a couple of key players, but they also had a great recruiting class that has already paid off huge and can only get better. Gonzaga is athletic, has great size, likes to push the pace and is great on the boards. The Bulldogs have quality depth and a fantastic coach. Auburn had much to replace from last year’s squad and is too inexperienced to compete in this one. The Tigers played St Joe’s on Thursday and won in overtime, and now have to face Gonzaga on a quick turnaround. The Bulldogs may score 100.

CMU coach Jim McElwain (formerly of Florida) has done a marvelous job with the Chippewas. They are solid on both sides of the ball, they play a well-balanced brand of football on offense and have a defense that can pressure and create opportunities for their offense. EMU has been competitive so far in 2020, but this is too good of a Central Michigan team that still has its eyes set on a MAC title.

This line seems a bit disrespectful to me from a Notre Dame perspective. The Fighting Irish have passed multiple "tests" this season in regards to their win vs. Clemson and how they handled Boston College the week afterward in a potential trap game. We know North Carolina has an explosive offense, but the Heels have been inconsistent at times during this season. We also know their defense isn't as good as the offense.

That isn't the case this year, as South Florida's defense has given easy access to the end zone often. While the Bulls do have the athletes to compete with UCF, they are about a year away from actually posing a significant threat to the Knights.

Notre Dame's defense is tremendous, but Clemson showed that unit can be scored upon (so did Boston College to a lesser extent) -- and North Carolina's offense is spectacular behind quarterback Sam Howell, an early favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and RBs Javonte Williams and Michael Carter, each of whom averages at least 7.0 yards per carry. Yes, the UNC defense is terrible, but that unit catches a break in that two Irish starting offensive linemen, right guard Tommy Kraemer and center Jarrett Patterson, are out.

A total of 11 players are back from last season, including reigning SoCon Player and Defensive Player of the Year Isaiah Miller, who declared for the NBA Draft and then withdrew. Little Rock has a game under its belt, beating Prairie View A&M 71-66 on Wednesday. Let’s start with the fact that this line is short as Vegas has under rated this S. Dakota St team who returns 5 starters and plays great defense. St. Mary’s is the more recognizable team name wise and thus S. Dakota St is only -1.5 but my numbers say they should be a much bigger number. This stingy defense will frustrate St. Mary’s as after the first two games has allowed 39 and 37% shooting. Add that to the fact that St. Mary’s has struggled so far shooting 39 and 41% in it’s first two games. Going to ride the early season momentum of S. DAKOTA ST as my numbers have them winning by 7-9 Points. TAKE S. DAKOTA ST as my 4% VEGAS STEAM COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAY.

So here we sit following that epic showdown in the MAC West where we saw Kaleb Eleby and his dominant downfield passing win a HUGE game to sit in the catbird seat for the title game, while Jim McElwain's Chippewas sit knowing they need help, but there are always opportunities. In such a truncated Covid season I find it very hard to believe there will be any kind of let down for the Chips, even on the road, and even against a foe that “boasts” a winless 0-3 record. If ever there was a misleading final score or misleading box score, it was the Eagles when they hosted Toledo last week and lost 45-28. So you're thinking, dude it wasn't all that close anyway…..right….well it was 45-13 before Toledo called off the dogs and mailed it in…and the box score is EVEN WORSE. EMU ran for 34 total yards and this WAS ON A BALANCED ATTACK…of 38 pass plays, 31 run plays……averaging barely over 1 yard per carry….they were doubled up in yards per pass, had 10 less first downs, 5 less minutes of ToP, and needed a 4/4 on 4th down conversions to achieve the 17 points loss in the end!!!!

I will add plenty more of my paralysis by analysis as the week goes on, but whatever Vegas thinks is a let down spot for Jimmy Mac's boys, I disagree…and would NOT be surprised if we see movement in this game nearly to the laying 9 or 10 mark by the time Black Friday hits….and it will certainly be Black Friday for the Eagles as they go to 0-4 rather handily!

Illinois is the more athletic team and has a size advantage here.

My numbers had Iowa laying -31 and I was comfortable laying that huge spread.

Illinois is a godless killing machine. They have unleashed holy hell on North Carolina A&T and Chicago State, winning those two games by 62 and 59 points apiece. Is Ohio the team to slow them down? I'm not sure. But until I see someone stay within 30 points of Illinois, who in my mind is clearly the best team in the Big Ten, I'm not counting on it. Both teams are playing their third game in three days. Illinois is the more athletic, deeper team so that should be a big advantage for them. Illinois plays high-intensity, full court, high pressure defense. That will be hell for a tired, overmatched team to deal with. Look for Illinois to roll. Again.

This is too many points. Houston is outstanding. But Boise State has some dudes. Derrick Alston, Abu Kigab and Marcus Shaver are as good as anything that Houston is packing. Boise State also scooped up to Arizona castoffs, Emmanuel Akot and Devonair Doutrive. Houston isn't going to lose this game. But I have a hard time seeing Boise State getting run out of the building. This number should be close to 7.5 or 8.0. I'll play the value.

2-Unit Play. Take #640 Vanderbilt (-6) over Valparaiso (7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

I will buy low with Vanderbilt. This team is definitely improved. I am cautiously optimistic about Jerry Stackhouse as a coach and I think he will slowly rebuild this program. Valparaiso has an interesting roster. But they lost their two best players, including do-it-all Javon Freeman-Liberty. I think there's going to be an adjustment period as people settle into their roles. Vanderbilt has three starters back fro last year's squad, plus they added key transfer D.J. Harvey, whose experience should pay off immediately. Vandy is bigger, stronger and faster and playing in their home gym. They will win.

4-Unit Play. Take #654 Georgia Tech (-12.5) over Mercer (8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

1-Unit Play. FIRST HALF: Take #654 Georgia Tech (-6.5) over Mercer (8 p.m.)

Georgia Tech is absolutely going to maim Mercer. Tech had an absolute battle with Georgia State in their opening game. They lost outright in double OT. But that's a really good Georgia State team - they will likely win the Sun Belt and give someone everything they can handle in the NCAA Tournament. That game was their Super Bowl; both teams are located in Atlanta and Tech is the ACC darling, etc. Bottom line is Tech got punched in the face. Now they are angry and looking to punch someone else in the face. Enter Mercer. Mercer isn't a bad team by any stretch. But they aren't going to sneak up on Tech and they are going to take the brunt of the Yellowjackets' frustration. This should be a maiming.

1-Unit Play. Take #662 Pacific (-4) over Fresno State (6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

2-Unit Play. Take #674 Northern Iowa (-3) over Utah State (4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

Utah State has Neemias Queta and nothing else. Justin Bean can play a little. But Utah State has terrible guard play and they are young in all the wrong spots. They've gotten rolled in their first two game, losing both by 16+ points. Not great. Now they are facing a really tough Northern Iowa team that's lost two close games, both against teams that are better than the two that beat Utah State. Bottom line: Utah State has played like a team that deserves to leave this tournament 0-3. Northern Iowa has not. UNI will get the W.

1-Unit Play. Take #676 St. Mary's (+1.5) over South Dakota State (6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

2-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 154.0 North Florida at N.C. State (5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

2-Unit Play. Take #7136 Syracuse (-22.5) over Bryant (3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27)

I'll take a stab on Syracuse here. As I mentioned yesterday, the top tier schools have been just wrecking weaker competition. Syracuse has four starters back, a bunch of seniors and upperclassmen, and they should be ready to go. If their outside shooting is on point then they can really pick their score here. Jim Boeheim doesn't go deep into his bench either, so if the SU starters are taking to Bryant they are going to do so all game long. I can see this one around 84-56.

The Broncos are far and wide the better team in this match-up. UC Davis is a middle of the road team at best in a weaker Big West. Santa Clara is a solid, above average team in a much deeper and stronger WCC. Santa Clara brings back a bunch of talent from group that won 20 games and put its conference on notice they aren't a walkover by any means. They already have won win this week under its belt, and here is another good win. Broncos minus the number.

7-Unit Play. #662 Take Pacific (-4) over Fresno State (6 p.m., Friday, November 27)

U of the Pacific had a breakout season for its basketball program last year. Damon Stoudamire led his Tigers to 23 wins and a team in the now to be aware of in the WCC. Pacific got itself off on the right start with a win to begin the season. I expect an even stronger performace here against a Fresno State team that is predicted to be in the bottom half of what will be a down year for the Mountain West. Conversely, even though Gonzaga is yet again the diamond from the West Coast Conference, this often overlooked league will have a handful of underrated teams, such as this Pacific squad, Santa Clara, Pepperdine and others who definitely get overlooked because of the Zags' dominance. Pacific was one of the deepest teams in the country last year. And this season, they add three ready-now newcomers who become instant contributors in to this core. Pacific alredy carried over its success from last spring and the confidence to win games like this. Right at this early point in the schedule, Fresno is far from a known commodity, and so we're behind the better and more proven group. Pacfiic makes it two-for-two against fellow west coast teams. Tigers by 12, 72-60.

This is still a pretty good spot in a rivalry game against the Hawkeyes, who have turned things around after losing their first two. Dual-threat Luke McCaffrey had a disastrous,. three-INT game against the Illini, but look for him to make enough plays to keep Nebraska within the number.

The first few years of the Scott Frost Era in Nebraska saw a competent offense mixed with a terrible defense. Well, the defense hasn't improved much, but the offense has gotten worse. It's never good to have a QB controversy because nobody on the roster is capable of playing well. I think Iowa covers the spread, but I'd rather go Under because I have a difficult time seeing Nebraska score much in this matchup. I'm good up until 52.

I will take the points in this game. I think that Seton Hall has a great chance to win this game outright. Louisville played very well against Evansville in a 79-44 win in their opening game. Evansville is one of the weakest teams in the country. This is a big step up for Louisville and Seton Hall will be one of the top teams in the Big East this year. Seton Hall has a very experienced team and Sandro Mamukelashvili is their go-to guy. Seton Hall is 43-19 ATS in their last 62 games as an underdog. They are 4-1 ATS as a road underdog and the road team is 4-0 ATS in this series. I like the Pirates to get the job done.

This marks the second time I'll have played against Kansas State already this season. We won when they lost by 10 to Drake as a 5-point favorite. The correct team is now laying points but not enough. K-State won just 11 games last season and lost its three best players. I expect the Wildcats to be in for a long and rebuilding season. Colorado is off to a winning start and one of the top players in the Pac-12 looked in mid-season form. McKinley Wright pumped in 20 points for the Buffaloes who are the better offensive team, facing a K-State squad that is going to struggle as new faces come together. First contest for both teams and we expect defense to reign supreme. Bryant will be a player in the NEC this season and it's because of their play on the defensive end. There's plenty of talent but not much of it gains notoriety for putting the ball in the basket. Jim Boeheim's Syracuse program has been known forever for its matchup zones and we suspect they'll confuse Bryant throughout the contest. Bryant enters on a 9-3 Under run. San Diego State handled UCLA with ease two nights ago. Also, two nights ago, IC-Irvine lost to Pepperdine by 14 as four-point underdogs which were one of my picks. As I mentioned the other day, the Anteaters have to rebuild this year after losing a boatload of veteran talent. The Aztecs return an experienced cast and while their home court advantage is diminished without fans, they almost always play very well at Viejas Arena. San Diego State is on a nice 20-10 ATS run and that continues tonight.

3 Unit Play. Take #634 Buffalo -6.5 over Towson (4:30 p.m. ET, Friday, Nov. 27)

Buffalo has a string of 20-win seasons and they are primed to make it six straight this season with four double-digit scorers back in the fold. The Bulls have been an offensive-minded team for years and appear poised for another strong campaign. This is Towson's third game in three days and though they'll have the advantage of having played compared to Buffalo, they might become leg-weary in the second half against the Bulls' faster tempo. The total on this tilt is 148.5 and Buffalo is 10-1 ATS in a neutral court game where the total is 145 to 149.5.

Today they get to run and because of their poor first showing, the total is off by about eight points. Pepperdine won 86-72 in its first game, getting Over the total. I look for a similar score here in game played at neutral site in San Diego. Just the Over.

North Carolina has been a fun team to watch this season because it can put up points in a hurry, and then its defense does a great job of giving them right back so the offense can get back on the field. And it's that defense that causes me to pause when considering the Heels in this spot. They should find some success against the Irish defense, but how many times can the UNC defense stop the Irish offense? Probably not often enough.

The Irish followed their upset of Clemson with a road win over gritty Boston College but have had two weeks off since and are going to have their hands full. Coach Mack Brown's clubs thrive in these spots and look for Sam Howell to lead the Tar Heels in a shootout.

It's been a rough start for these Bay Area rivals, but the Bears should be the better team Friday. Quarterback Chase Garbers led them to a win last year to end Stanford's nine-game run of dominance in the series, and he is joined by several key contributors in that win. Blunders on special teams cost the Bears a win at Oregon State last week. Stanford coach David Shaw's smash-mouth style isn't suited to deal with the personnel depth issues in the pandemic.
