Pompano Park has a 13-race card scheduled for this evening including two Pick 4 sequences. The Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6 and the 0.50 Late Pick 4 begins in Race 10. I will focus on the Late Pick 4 and both sequences have a $30,000 guaranteed pool.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 10

2-Caviart Reagan (7-1)-Veteran drops to the level of last win and should offer some value. Simons shouldn't have much trouble getting on the engine and that route could lead to a picture.
4-Loud Splash (2-1)-Recent form has been dull but Hennessey takes the lines and maybe he will be able to wake this
5-year-old up. Might be able to fall into the pocket or get the point in front of #2 and did beat Open Handicap company here on 11/29.

Race 11

5-Explosivebreakaway (7/2)-Did not miss the board here until last week after breaking stride. Did have 4 straight second place finishes at this class. Will take a swing with this favorable post draw. Best to respect, did win over $53K in 2020 with only 17 starts.
6-DG's Caviar(3-1)-Doesn't usually break but every once in a while, like last week, will take a bad step. In the previous race appeared to be fired out of a canon going down the lane. Goes right back in the box so assuming there aren't any issues. Should be a major player.
7-Muscles For Life (3/2)-Got some revenge on #6 in last due to the miscue. Not sure Hennessey can get the top and steal a quarter. Using, but at 3/2 will hope others cross the line first.

Race 12

3-Pittsburgh Hanover (8-1)-Will look here and toss the 2nd chalk #1 off the ticket. Was in fine form before making a rare break in last. Should be a juicy price, Ingraham can work a stalking trip hoping for quick fractions and then roll by late.
4-Groovey Kid (8/5)-Hennessey will look to wire this field after coming off a win. Steps-up but will be bet and will need a top effort for an encore.
5-TT Conway (5-1)-Even effort in last after being off almost a month and now tries Lasix for the 2nd time. Versatile sort who draws well and fits if ready for a big try.

Race 13

2-Peter Dalt (4-1)-Comes off a win in a quick mile and could benefit from a similar trip here. Usually is camera shy and faces better but best to respect versus this bunch.
4-Rocksapatriot (8-1)-Drops to the level of last win and tries Lasix for the first time. Has been in the money in 7 of 14 starts at PPk with 3 pictures. Has the speed to compete with this crew and will use at a nice price with the chalk stuck with post 9.
9-Lets Roll (2-1)-Wired the field in last and has the gate speed to use the same script tonight. Has won 5 of 12 at the Pomp and if gets the top without using up much gas it will be probably be another win in south Florida. Does face a better field so will look to others as well and will likely be bet hard.

Might appreciate getting back on dry land after fading effort in the mud at Fair Grounds, and he'll likely get bet here while trying two turns for the first time. Standing against.


#5 Standing Perfect
That was a surprisingly good effort from off the pace when trying stakes company off the Louisiana Downs maiden win, and he should be able to find a good spot tracking the pace here.


Race Summary
Wise Anchor may get overlooked on the hike, but he has been improving through his local starts and may be competitive here with a good trip looming if he's able to move forward one more time.

Finished up with some enthusiasm in the debut going 5f, and he may appreciate the added ground here while trying two turns in this second career start.


#7 Sarah's Vision
Looks like the clear one to beat off the fast turf effort at Fair Grounds last out, but he's sure to get bet here and has a two-turn question to answer at a likely short price.


#4 Gimmeasound
Owns a bit of pace on the stretch around two turns, and he stuck around nicely when fourth last time out in a good effort. Not impossible if he gets the right trip.


Race Summary
Courageous Is Back rallied well at a tricky 5f trip to finish into, and a more leisurely two-turn pace may allow him to sit a bit closer and outfinish these.

She has really turned a corner for the Broberg operation since the claim, and she's quick enough to work out a good spot from the fence while tracking the splits.


#8 The Complete Court
She has done nothing wrong in two starts, and while she's taking another step up today, she's not exposed after just two starts and should flash some pace on the stretchout.


#3 Saber Cut
Might get a decent finishing trip in a spot with a couple of pace elements signed on, and she should appreciate the class relief after trying stakes company last time out.


Race Summary
Ashley's New Shoes brings solid recent form for her new team, and while the price probably won't be much, she looks like a handful here and should be a good one to lean on in the multi-race plays.

PAJAMA QUEEN - The finish of third in the last affair shows me that this horse may be getting out of condition. Hard to put any money on this mare on the top end. Likes to land in the money though. This mare just doesn't seem to like the rail post position. Her running lines show that she doesn't fare well from there. This mare recorded a speed figure in her last event which probably isn't good enough in today's event. TAHOE BLUE - This filly hasn't had any recent good fortune in sprint contests. I find it hard to bet on her in this race. Hasn't been getting close at all recently. OYE COMO VA - Should have at least finished in the money in the last 60 days in a sprint affair to be worth the risk at modest odds in a sprint.

BISCAYNE BAY - This racer coming off a sharp effort in the last thirty days is a win candidate in my book. This filly looks like a natural router, based on efforts in last 2 sprint races. CRISTALINDA - Taking a big class drop in class figure points from her December 7th race at Mahoning Valley Race Cour. Based on that valuable data, I will give this animal the advantage. A filly like this one, almost always in the money, usually makes an excellent trifecta key horse. SOMUCHSUGAR - When Bracho and Gonzalez work together on horses the win pct has been tremendous at 38. Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Certainly on edge for a good one today.

POWER BANKER - She had to show me more against that weaker field in the last race on Dec 14th to get my support today. May bounce off of that last extreme effort. Not likely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put her on the likely underpriced equines list.

Ohio State was dominant throughout the regular season, scoring fewer than 38 points just once. Quarterback Justin Fields threw for 385 yards and six touchdowns in the Buckeyes' 49-28 win over Clemson in the CFP semifinals. The Buckeyes are the highest-scoring team Alabama has faced this season (43.4 points per game) and dominated the Tigers in the CFP semifinals, averaging an incredible 8.9 yards per play and finishing with 639 total yards in their 49-28 win.
Both Mississippi and Florida showed how vulnerable Alabama's secondary is against elite aerial attacks. Indeed, the Rebels gained nearly 700 total yards (62% pass success rate, 42% rush success rate) and scored a season-high 48 points. Florida was equally as successful in exposing the Tide's secondary as Kyle Trask threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns in the Gators' 52-46 loss.
Alabama won each of its ten regular-season games by 15 points or more (seven by four touchdowns or more) and has the most prolific offense in the land. Quarterback Mac Jones threw for 3,739 yards this season, the most by an Alabama quarterback through the first 11 games. Jones is completing 75.6% of his pass attempts with 32 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been the most dominant player in college football this season, finishing with a record-high 94.7 Pro Football Focus (PFF) receiving grade. The Tide are equally as dangerous on the ground behind running back Najee Harris, who earned a top-10 rushing grade from PFF among players at this position (89.9). Harris is also a threat out of the backfield where he caught 36 passes in 12 games this season and broke 17 tackles after the catch, four more than any other Power 5 back.

I rarely deviate from what has been a very successful college postseason formula based on rushing stats. Those numbers point to Ohio State here and teams that fit that are also underdogs do exceptionally well. The downside of backing that theory here is twofold. One variable is that Alabama is an absolute wrecking crew. The other, and the more important aspect in my opinion, is the virus situation for the Buckeyes. We've seen all season how disruptive this can be for preparation routine. NFL teams can overcome the distractions, but college teams seem more vulnerable to getting impacted. That does concern me here, so I'm keeping this one small. But I'll still trust my data and will make the lukewarm call on Ohio State plus the points.

Pelicans enter this game off three straight home losses, now face a seven game road trip. At 4-5 on the season it's imperative that they turn this around in a hurry. That means full attention to this road contest in Dallas. The offense has been there for New Orleans but the defense has struggled.
Dallas is feeling pretty good about themselves wit three straight wins. They are also welcoming back Kristaps Porzingis for the first time this season. He's such a focal point of the offense, being the number two scorer, that it will take time for him to gel with the others. The Utes will be a home underdog versus Colorado, and that makes sense when you consider that the Buffaloes are 2-2 in the PAC12 so far, while Utah is 1-3 in conference play. Last year Utah finished in the bottom half of the conference, but they were 12-2 overall at home. Colorado had a winning record in the conference, but lost seven of their 11 road games. The home team has won eight of the last 10 head to head meetings between these teams, and the two exceptions were both wins for Utah at Colorado. The home team has covered in each of the last six meetings. I'll take the points.

Usually when a team has won and covered in 3 straight games as a dog and are now a favorite, I would tend to stay away, but I just feel there's still plenty of value with the Hornets as a mere 4.5-point home favorite against the Knicks.
Charlotte is a team no one expected anything out of this year and while they might not end up being a factor in the eastern conference, they are playing really good basketball right now.
You also have to factor in the Knicks current state and it's not good. In New York's last two games they have lost 89-101 at home to the Thunder and 89-114 at home to the Nuggets. That kind of offensive production just won't cut it on the road. Bet the Hornets -4.5!

The Milwaukee Bucks simply own the Orlando Magic. They have gone 8-1 SU & 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings with all eight wins by 9 points or more and seven by double-digits. It should be more of the same here in their first meeting this season with the Bucks winning by 10 points or more to cover this number.
While the Bucks are nearly fully healthy, injuries have hit the Magic hard. They are without Isaac, Aminu, Okeke, Fultz, Fournier and Carter-Williams right now. Their lack of depth and overall talent has shown in their last two games as they lost 90-132 to Houston and 98-112 to Dallas. They have lost four of their last six games all by 9 points or more.
Plays on favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points (Milwaukee) - after a game where they covered the spread, winning 51% to 60% of their games on the season playing another winning team are 77-36 (68.1%) ATS over the last five seasons.
I think the Bucks are actually undervalued right now because they have four losses on the season already. The Magic are 5-15-2 ATS in their last 22 games as home underdogs. Bet the Bucks Monday.

The pick: The Knicks are just 1-4 ATS in their last five when playing the second game of a back-to-back after scoring 90 or less points in a home loss in their last outing, while the Hornets are 7-3 ATS in their last ten after three or more straight SU/ATS victories in a row. I get the Hawks have not been playing great of late, but how do you not back Atlanta in this spot. The 76ers are absolutely depleted right now because of Covid and injury. Philadelphia will be without Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz and Vincent Poirier.
Now if the Hawks came in playing well, I would be a lot more hesitant to back them here, as it would be really easy for them to just assume they could win this game without trying. I just don't see Atlanta treating the game like that having lost 4 straight (all as a favorite). I really think this number should be closer to double-digits. Give me the Hawks -6.5!
