Butler, which did rule out top guard Aaron Thompson for the season earlier this week, has played better of late in upsets of Seton Hall and Villanova. The Bulldogs stay within single digits in Omaha.

ANALYSIS: I'm 100 percent with Larry Hartstein on this one as it seems a sure-fire letdown game for the Illini off Tuesday's historic win (the school's highest-ranked road victory ever) at No. 2 Michigan. Thing is, Illinois can't win the Big Ten regular-season title and most likely will remain without All-American candidate Ayo Dosunmu. What's the motivation here? This is much more important for the Buckeyes, who once were considered a potential No. 1 NCAA Tournament seed candidate but have dropped three in a row and may not even get a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament.

They already have the Big East's top seed wrapped up, so why would Jay Wright even bother playing his other key guys heavy minutes here? The Friars will be fired up in their home finale.

Today we are going to back Ohio St in their season finale at home. Illinois is in a horrible scheduling spot coming off back to back upsets on the road against Wisconsin and Michigan. This is also Illinois 3rd straight road game and 5th in their last 6 games. With this being the final game of the season and coming off the Michigan Blowout win I just don’t see Illinois being mentally prepared today. Ohio St on the other hand will come totally focused and ready to play as they don’t want to head into the post season on a 4 game losing streak. Two of the 3 losses were to Michigan and Iowa so there really is no shame there. We also find that OHIO ST is 9-2 ATS as a home favorite of 6 points or less or pick over the last 2 seasons. In addition to that we find that ILLINOIS is 0-6 ATS revenging a straight up loss vs opponent as a favorite over the last 3 seasons. My numbers have Ohio St winning by 6 or more. TAKE OHIO ST as my 5% HI-ROLLER PLAY.

Appalachian State is allowing just 64.0 points per game to teams that would combine to average 68.7 points per game against a mediocre defense and should easily contain a pedestrian Texas State offense that is 6.6 points per game worse than average in 2020-21 (66.1 points per game against teams that would combine to allow 72.7 points per game to a mediocre attack).
I also like the fact that Appalachian State is a profitable 12-3 ATS in its last fifteen games with a point spread between 1.5 and 5.5 points. That trend demonstrates the fact that the Mountaineers play their best basketball in competitively-priced games, which is precisely what we have in tonight's Sun Belt Conference tournament game. Let's also note that Appalachian State has a substantial advantage at the free-throw line (74.38%, 60th in nation) and under the boards (35.6 RPG, 157th in nation). St. Mary's offensive woes are significant in that the Gaels fall into a very negative 26-63 ATS statistical profile indicator of mine that invests against certain teams entering off a game in which they scored fewer than 56 points. Loyola Marymount has done an excellent job crashing the boards, which is significant in that the Lions are a perfect 7-0 ATS following five straight games in which their opponent grabbed 31 or fewer rebounds. ANALYSIS: Loyola Marymount played a tight contest against San Francisco on Friday night and now it has to quickly turn around and face a well-rested St. Mary's team and it's stout defense. I don't hate the Under in this spot, though I'd prefer the total at 125 or higher, and I'm not sure it'll get there. Instead I'm backing the Gaels.

ANALYSIS: This strikes me as a matchup that Wofford should win comfortably barring an outlandish shooting performance by Mercer. Wofford won both regular season meetings, but the close call -- a 72-69 win at home -- came on a night when Mercer shot 41% from three while Wofford shot 29%. If both teams play to their typical level, I think Wofford covers with ease.
