He has stopped pretty badly in both career starts, but he looks like he's quick enough to control the pace today, and maybe establishing a clear lead for the first time makes him a bit braver in the lane.

Tough to love on top as he makes his 17th career start, but he owns pretty reliable sprint form that seems good enough to land a share of this. Standing against on principle.


#9 McQueen's Bullitt
He woke up going long last time out, but his two career sprint efforts weren't much to write home about, and he would feel like an underlay to me at anything like the 9/5 ML price.


Race Summary
Leonard's Legacy needs better than he has shown, but he might be fast enough to control this race with a little bit of confidence into the turn. Third start brings out something better?

Tough to argue with the recent form that produced a couple of wins by a combined 14+ lengths, but she's probably got a little bit of company in the early going here.


#5 Suzie'ssteppinout
Finisher handled the top choice pretty easily last time out, but she doesn't always back up her good efforts, so I wouldn't be too excited to jump on here.


Race Summary
Sophie's Angel might be the right one while drawing outside of a few potential pace players, and a modest try last time out might inflate the price a little bit.

World Cup Qualifying
You probably don't know much about this Montenegro team and that's OK, all you need to know is they are a far superior side to Latvia. While their World Cup Qualifying record doesn't look that much more impressive than Latvia, with a 2-1-2 record and -1 goal differential compared to Latvia at 1-1-3 with a -3 goal differential a better way to judge them is playing against more similar competition.
In these qualifiers, the Top 3 teams, Netherlands, Turkey and Norway are all far superior so the results are going to look very similar, but if we go back a little further to the Nations League it's a clearer picture.
Montenegro dominated their League C group going 4-1-1 with a 10:2 goal differential and will now be promoted into the same group as Russia, Finland, Scotland, Serbia and Romania, all solid 2nd tier teams.
Meanwhile Latvia finished 2nd worst in their League D group, unable to beat the likes of lowly Faroe Islands and Malta. The only nation they were able to beat up on was poor Andorra.
These two teams did already play in this qualifying group as well with Montenegro winning 2-1 on the road back in March. They dominated the shots in that game putting up 27 shots compared to just 12 for Latvia and also generated 2.86 xG while still allowing 1.90 xGA.
Even though Montenegro is the better team, that last match proves that you still can't trust them to lay more than a goal. So instead of laying the current -1.25 handicap, I'll just go with them to win and pair that with OVER 1.5 Goals for a PARLAY price of just -135.

OUR TIME - I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a return. I like horses that return to a similar class level after dropping at least 5 class pts like this one did last time around the track. I believe he'll be competitive at this class level. SCOOP THE CASH - Faced tougher last time out at Penn National. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker group, so I will put this one on my list of choice plays. I have to believe Radosevich is making a good move here. This gelding can only benefit from the shorter trip. Carrying 5 pounds less this race. Trainer has him in a good spot. UNCLE KEVIN - Although I sometimes have doubts about a thoroughbred who failed as the favorite in his last race, this gelding got a solid speed fig and fits well here. A thoroughbred coming back this promptly after a sharp race is a good omen. Took a class drop last time out at Thistledown. Johnson keeps him at the same level right here. I think that's a good move.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 FRONTIER MESA (ML=7/2), #6 NO EXAGGERATION (ML=9/2), #5 FLEET RUN (ML=8/1),

FRONTIER MESA - This horse hasn't shown very much in the last two events. August 11th is the last time we've seen this gelding around. Have to be a little bit leery. NO EXAGGERATION - Should take this one off your contenders roll call with the shortage of zip in that last route contest. FLEET RUN - Recent dropping speed figures of 57/52/46 give an indication that this equine may be going off form. This horse ran a pedestrian speed figure last time around the track. He shouldn't run better and will probably get beat today running that figure.

POWERFUL ALLY - Florescoba has a very solid winning percentage with horses moving in dirt sprint races. Has to be carefully examined for this event if only for the very good Equibase speed fig put up in the last race. SKIPIN ON ORCHARD - The average Equibase class rating of 82 makes this entrant hard to beat. Is tough not to look at based on Speed Figures which have been decent - 82 avg - of late.

SCOTTY'S ON EDGE - Sire figures (17 percent win percentage) give this racer a very good shot.

AIR FORCE JET (GB) - My comrades and I have made bucks playing ponies with this type of pace. Follow my advice and do the same. BABY WHITE SOX - Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. Likes to go to the lead and the fact that today is a shorter distance should help. Last time around the track, finished seventh in the slop at Mountaineer Park. Expect better right here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 FEVOLA (ML=9/5), #1 DIALED UP (ML=5/1), #3 FINAL TRIBUTE (ML=6/1),

FEVOLA - Not a value play to back the public's choice when he continues to lose time and time again when favored. DIALED UP - Don't believe this horse will do much running in today's event. That last speed figure was substandard when compared with today's class rating. FINAL TRIBUTE - While Equibase's speed ratings are strong, I would cast aside the high one from the August 18th in the mud. Some horses just run well on the off going. This gelding registered a speed fig in his last clash which probably isn't good enough in today's event.

Tampa Bay has the clear advantage on the mound with Drew Rasmussen, who has posted a 2.45 ERA and 0.773 WHIP in six starts this season. Rasmussen has posted a 2.25 ERA and 0.750 WHIP in two starts against the Red Sox in 2021.

I am on the over in the Texas Rangers vs Arizona Diamondbacks game on Tuesday. The Rangers have gone over this posted total just once in their last 4. They have Spencer Howard (0-3, 6.56 ERA) starting for them and he has not been pitching well lately. He had 1 good startin his last 4 but his other 3 he allowed 3+ runs in each of those games. In his last start he allowed 5 earned runs in just 2 innings of play. The Diamondbacks have seen some very high scoring games lately. They have gone over this posted total in their last 4 in a row, 3 of those being games where 1 team scored 8 runs at least themselves. They have also had 8+ runs in 7/10 games in their last 10. Zac Gallen (2-8, 4.34 ERA) is starting for them and he has had better seasons. After 2 starts of not allowing a run, he reverted back to his usual ways and allowed 3 runs in his last start. This has been a common theme all year for him. Both of these pitchers have been allowing a lot of runs and the Dbacks have been forcing their games into high scoring ones. This should be another high scoring game that shoots over this total.

I'll take my chances with the A's as a slim -128 home favorite against the White Sox on Tuesday. Big bounce back spot for Oakland after getting swept in a 3-game series at Toronto. While they were shutout in the series finale against the Blue Jays, that was more of Toronto having one of the best starters in the AL on the mound in Robbie Ray. Oakland's offense was on point in the first two games, scoring 18 runs on 21 hits.
I look for the A's offense to get back on track against Chicago's Jimmy Lambert. He's made two starts in 2021 and has posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.649 WHIP, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits in just 6 2/3 innings. He was much worse on the road than he was at home.
Oakland will have James Kaprielian on the mound. He's coming off a couple of poor outings, but he's 5-2 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 8 home starts. Give me the A's -128!

I'll take a shot with the A's as they look to bounce back following a miserable weekend in Toronto. This appears to be an ideal bounce-back spot noting that Oakland has gone 45-17 against A.L. Central opponents over the last three seasons, outscoring the opposition by an average margin of 2.2 runs. The A's are a solid 10-4 after losing four of their last five games this season, as is the case here, outscoring opponents by 1.7 runs on average. Meanwhile, the White Sox check in a miserable 10-27 as a road underdog over the last two seasons, outscored by an average margin of 1.2 runs in that spot. They're also just 11-17 after winning four or five of their last six games this season. Take Oakland.
