Sep 14 Tokyo Brandon 4% [KBO] (304673) Lotte Giants at (304674) KIA Tigers

Time: 5:30 AM EDT Lotte Giants Total Over 3.5 (-120)
Analysis:
Mengden is a good pitcher but not as good as the bookmakers give him credit for. He has a 5+ ERA vs Lotte this season and the Kia bullpen is terrible. Lotte his 5th best in the KBO but that should be good enough to get 4 in this one on a hot night outside. Take Lotte team total Over 3.5. My numbers have it at 4.95.

Game: Wolfsburg at Lille
Date/Time: Sep 14 2021 3:00 PM EDT
Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
Play Rating: 4%
Play: Wolfsburg +0.0 (-125)

UEFA Champions League

Wolfsburg has gotten off to a great start in the Bundesliga sitting atop the table with a perfect 4-0 record and 6:1 goal differential. They own a +0.65 xG differential and have the 2nd best defense in the Bundesliga according to xG, allowing just 0.83 per game.

Lille have limped to a 1-2-2 record to start the season which was always going to be difficult to repeat after selling off several players this offseason. They actually have a decent xG differential at +0.39 but are allowing nearly double the shots on goal per game as Wolfsburg, 4.8 to just 2.5. Lille will also be without several key players due to injury in Sanches, Bamba, Weah and Karnezis.

I would pass here is Wolfsburg was favored, but the fact we get the safety of the draw makes this a play.

TAKE WOLFSBURG +0

Line Parameter: 4% at +0 up to -140, do not lay -0.25

Date/Time: Sep 14 2021 12:45 PM EDT
Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
Play Rating: 4%
Play: Sevilla (-145)

UEFA Champions League

Salzburg has done nothing but win every game they have played this season, a perfect 10-0 record but with all due respect to their qualifying opponent Brondby, Sevilla is far tougher than anyone they have played.

Salzburg were in the UCL group stage last year and finished 3rd to fall in to the Europa League. In the group stage they lost both matches against another La Liga opponent, Atletico Madrid, while also losing both to Bayern Munich. Then in the knockout rounds of the Europa, they lost both matches to yet another La Liga opponent, and eventual winners, Villarreal.

Sevilla will be more of the same and the equivalent of an SEC vs MAC bowl game. Take the SEC.

TAKE SEVILLA TO WIN (ML or -0.5)

Game: Zenit Petersburg at Chelsea
Date/Time: Sep 14 2021 3:00 PM EDT
Betting Line Provider: Consensus Line
Play Rating: 5%
Play: Chelsea -1.75 (-115)

UEFA Champions League

Zenit continue to be the top team in Russia's Premier League and have started the season off unbeaten in eight games with six wins and two draws. But let's not kid ourselves, they haven't faced competition like Chelsea or anything even close to it.

During last year's group stage, this very same Zenit team struggled mightily with an 0-1-5 record including losing all three road games by 2+ goals at Dortmund, at Club Brugge and at Lazio. Chelsea is better than all of those teams.

The UCL defending champs are off to a great start in EPL play, fresh off a 3-0 win over Aston Villa this weekend. They have three wins and one draw which came at Liverpool which was impressive considering they were handed a red card right before halftime and had to play the entire 2nd half down a man, otherwise they have won all of their other three games by 2+ goals without conceding a single goal against Palace, Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Chelsea are deep, experienced and playing in London now with Lukaku who is fitting right in. This should be a completely one-sided game with Chelsea winning by multiple goals.

TAKE CHELSEA -1.75

Line Parameter: 5% to -2.0 but pay up to -140 to get -1.75

Cincinnati is 9-1 against Pittsburgh this year and has won 13 of the last 14 meetings dating back to last season. The Reds swept a four-game home series against the Pirates last month, outscoring them 31-9 in the process. Cincinnati LHP Wade Miley won both of his starts versus Pittsburgh earlier this year, scattering eight hits over 13 scoreless innings. Expect Miley and Reds to cruise again. 9-1 this year, won last 5

ANALYSIS: The Twins just played an extra inning game yesterday in New York and now they fly home to play a doubleheader the next day. Neither of these teams have been scoring much lately so I think whoever scores first will end up winning this game with these two starters. Triston McKenzie has been a stud the second half of this season and he is coming off 1 ER allowed in 6 IP against the Twins. Joe Ryan will be making just his third career start and he just pitched 7 shutout against the Indians. However, he is still a rookie and facing a Major League team back to back times usually favors the hitters. I will take the Indians at plus money behind their best pitcher right now.

ANALYSIS: The books keep putting a premium on the Padres because of their name, and I am not sure why. They are now 14-22 since the trade deadline including 5-13 on the road, and they start Jake Arrieta tonight. He hasn’t pitched in a month and most likely won’t go too deep, but he also allowed 6 ER in 2 IP against the Giants earlier this season. Anthony Desclafani has been pitching well lately and he pitched at least five innings allowing 3 runs or fewer in all three of his starts against the Padres this season. This line should be around -200, take the Giants at home.

CINCINNATI @ PITTSBURGH | 09/14 | 6:35 PM EDT
CINCINNATI -1.5
ANALYSIS: The Reds have had a rough few weeks, but they still are clinging, barely, to the second NL wild card spot. They have nine of their final 18 games against the Pirates and they'll start taking advantage Tuesday. Wade Miley has been their best pitcher all year and he gets the ball in this one. He's faced the Pirates twice this season and thrown 13 scoreless innings. The Pirates start lefty Dillon Peters and he's thrown well this year, but it's been in a small sample. He still carries a career 5.53 ERA in the majors. The Reds are better and after a day off are ready to get hot against inferior competition.

ANALYSIS: I'm shocked this isn't more than -200. And, sure, I keep picking against Jake Arrieta, but it keeps working. Why not stick with it? The last time Arrieta started a game and his team won was June 9 -- 10 starts ago. In his last 17 starts, he has an 8.91 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .349/.414/.630 against him. The Padres are 30-38 on the road and 8-20 since Aug. 10. The Giants are 46-23 at home and 33-13 since July 24. They clinched a playoff berth last night, but can't rest with the Dodgers on their heels.

Time: Tuesday, September 14, 06:35 pm ET
Bet Type: Moneyline
Action or Listed Pitchers: Listed Pitchers
Pick: Cincinnati Reds -153 (5Dimes)
Analysis:
I'm playing on CINCINNATI. If the Reds want to make the Wild Card, these are the type of games they absolutely need to win. Miley is 12-5 with a 2.89 ERA. He averages six innings per start and he's coming off a gem. All he did was allow one run through seven complete innings, striking out eight, without walking a batter. In his last two road starts, he's allowd one combined run through 14 innings. On the other hand, Peters hasn't gone more than five innings in a start since 2019. The Reds won 10-0 the last time Miley faced the Pirates. I expect another big win in this one.

Time: Tuesday, September 14, 07:05 pm ET
Bet Type: Moneyline
Action or Listed Pitchers: Listed Pitchers
Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -187 (5Dimes)
Analysis:
I'm playing on PHILADELPHIA. Numerous advantages for the Phillies in this one. Gibson is 7-1 with a 1.59 ERA in his 11 "home" starts. His teams are 10-1 in those games. Last time here, he pitched six shutout innings. The Phillies won 7-0. Sampson only has a couple of starts under his belt this season. In those nine innings, he's given up three home runs. In fact, dating back to 2019, he's allowed at least a home run in seven straight games. A closer look reveals that in just a 34 1/3 inning span, he served up 12 long balls. Phillies are 8-2 as home favorites in the -175 to -250 range. Expect them to improve on those stats here.

Time: Tuesday, September 14, 07:07 pm ET
Bet Type: Over / Under
Action or Listed Pitchers: Listed Pitchers
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays vs Toronto Blue Jays Under 9 (-110) (5Dimes)
Analysis:
I'm playing on Toronto/TB UNDER the total. Yes, the Blue Jay bats have been hot. Same for the Tampa bats, before yesterday. However, both starters are in excellent form and I'm expecting a pitcher's duel this evening. Berrios is 3-0 with a 2.21 ERA and 0.836 WHIP his past three starts. Over that 3-game span, he's struck out 26 while walking just two. Dominant numbers. Rasmussen doesn't go deep into games but he's also allowed one run or less in six straight starts. Over his past three starts, he's got a 1.93 ERA with 8 K's against just one walk. He hasn't allowed a HR in any of his past five starts either. Prior to yesterday's "push," the UNDER was a perfect 5-0 the past five times that these teams faced each other. Look for a low-scoring affair.

Time: Tuesday, September 14, 07:10 pm ET
Bet Type: Moneyline
Action or Listed Pitchers: Listed Pitchers
Pick: New York Mets -158 (5Dimes)
Analysis:
I'm playing on NY. After getting pounded yesterday, I expect the Mets to bounce back big tonight. Despite not having the wins to show for it, Stroman (2.87 ERA, 1.123 WHIP) just keeps delivering. Last time out, he allowed just one run, on only four hits, through 6 1/3 innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter. He's allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven straight starts. He's also gone six or more innings in four of his past five. Stroman will finally get some support in this one. Woodford is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.833 WHIP his past three starts, averaging just four innings. Look for the Mets to bounce back and improve to 15-10 the past 25 times that they were off a shutout loss.

Time: Tuesday, September 14, 09:45 pm ET
Bet Type: Run Line
Action or Listed Pitchers: Listed Pitchers
Pick: San Diego Padres +1.5 (-130) (BetOnline)
Analysis:
I'm playing SD on the run-line (+1.5 runs) These teams are currently going in opposite directions and the Giants won big yesterday. However, despite all the losing, the Padres are still alive in the Wild Card race. That said, they desperately need to go on a run. After getting pounded yesterday, I expect a much better effort today. True, Arrieta has seen better days. He was relatively solid in his last start though and he knows his team desperately needs him tonight. He held high-scoring Houston to three runs, on only three hits and one walk. Desclafani has only gone more than five innings in one of his past seven starts. In fact, over that 7-game span, he's gone a total of 26 2/3 innings. That's less than four innings per start. The Padres are 8-6 their last 14, after losing their previous three or more games. Expect the bats to come alive and for them to bounce back with at least the "run-line cover."

ANALYSIS: All the motivation is on the Braves' side, and Colorado pitcher Jon Gray is 0-4 with a 6.33 ERA (27.0 IP, 19 ER) through his last six starts. He has pitched five innings or fewer in five straight. Gray has been much worse on the road and at night, too. Atlanta, meanwhile, is 6-0 in its past six following an off day.
