He made a little move before flattening out late, and he might be able to work out a bit better trip today with a cleaner getaway. Think he's a bit overlooked here.


#2 Hitting Bombs
He has a real chance to land this while cutting back around one turn, and he's probably a bit more tactical with blinkers here than he was in his previous sprint try.


#5 Osbourne
He looks like the one to beat in here after a really useful debut run here in September, and he should be in line for a great trip while tracking the pace from close range.


Race Summary
Paid Twice might get a bit forgotten on the board in a race where Hitting Bombs and Osbourne may command the most cash with sharp running lines. Paid Twice might be able to better sustain a move with that debut run under his belt.

He's worth a little look at a mid-range price while moving around two turns on the dirt for the first time. He has not run well in a couple of turf route tries, but his form is better on the main, so he offers some intrigue at this trip on the dirt.


#5 Runnin' Ray
He has stepped up very nicely in recent starts, and he has led in the lane before settling for second in a couple of recent tries at this level. Wonder if he might be vulnerable again late here?


#1 Meister
He has done his best work around two turns and turned in a really nice effort in that first try with blinkers last out. He's tactical enough to find a trip from the rail draw.


Race Summary
Tuggle tries a dirt route for the first time, and he has form that suggests he might really like it. He should be able to get a really good trip from close range, and he might offer a playable enough price.

Tactical speed has faced some tough customers along the way, but he's probably going to be a short price again here, his tendency to give away ground in the stretch call is a real concern.


#2 Three Technique
He was no match for the BC winner in that last race, and the hope is he'll offer a better price to try to get back to one of his better efforts here.

STORM RISK - Cruised home victorious as he wired the field just recently at Mahoning Valley Race Cour. A quick turn around to potentially do it again right here. I really like that most recent effort on November 9th at Mahoning Valley Race Cour where he finished first. Calderon has a knack for picking up equines that can be improved. Fantastic win rate with horses off a claim, and they just picked this one up out of his last race. Here is a true horse for the course. Loves the track here at Mahoning Valley Race Course. STAY HOME - Was in a non-classified race race at Churchill Downs last out. That race had a class number of 97 and he is moving down right here. A certain win candidate. Look for this one to go all the way to the finish line at some pretty good odds in this event. Ran fifth in last race, but not more than five from the lead at the finish line. Gelding made up a ton of ground in a 7 furlongs race. May go better on the stretchout. IHADADREAM - This gelding is in nice physical condition. Finished first on October 26th. AYE AYE SIR - After the event aboard this equine on Nov 6th, the jock is going to 'know' the gelding much better. This gelding is in good physical condition, having run a nice race on November 6th, finishing second.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 HISTORICALLY (ML=5/2), #6 IDOWHATIDO (ML=8/1), #5 NOBLE BEHAVIOR (ML=8/1),

HISTORICALLY - You have to be concerned that this racer added front bandages last time around the track. Finished eleventh in his most recent race with a run-of-the-mill speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch. IDOWHATIDO - A bit of a lackluster outing when this gelding finished fifth. NOBLE BEHAVIOR - Not likely that this equine will finish better than he did last time out of the box when finishing seventh. Don't think this racer will make an impact in today's event. That last speed figure was disappointing when compared with today's Equibase class figure.

ASBUILT - This filly has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Clouston. Better beware this angle. That was a solid win last time out. In my opinion has a good chance to repeat today. This thoroughbred has increased her speed figs in each of the last 2 races. That kind of progress is important to note.

COACH MACHEN - If this race shapes up right, all the front runners will force a ferocious pace duel early. Too bad this horse is one of those front runners. Last effort was too good. Not too far of a reach to expect a 'performance bounce' this time. WISH FOR MAGIC - The speed rating last race out doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's event. Mark this horse as a vulnerable competitor. NOMBRE - This pony ran a substandard speed figure last race out. She shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely get beat in today's event running that number.

Memo to the oddsmaker. Don't sleep on George Mason. Early marketplace activity has been on the Patriots in their road matchup against Maryland. I can understand why.
Each team is 3-0, but the Patriots have looked very good while Maryland hasn't.
George Mason defeated Stoney Brook, Penn and Morgan State by an average margin of 26.7 points. Never have the Patriots opened with three 20 plus point victories. Josh Oduro, the Patriots' 6-foot-9 forward, was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for averaging 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots.
Maryland is 1 1/2 points away from being 0-3 against the spread. The Terrapins have lackluster victories against Quinnipiac, George Washington and Vermont. Maryland has made just 15-of-64 (23 percent) of its 3-point shots.
George Mason, by contrast, made 15 shots from beyond the arc just against Morgan State.
The Patriots are averaging 83.7 points a game. That's nearly 10 points more per game than Maryland.
This is a major test for George Mason and its first year head coach Kim English. The Patriots certainly won't lack motivation.
Maryland hasn't been a good home favorite covering only five of its past 16 times it has hosted.

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Wednesday was with the Ball State Cardinals plus the points versus the Central Michigan Chippewas. Ball State (5-5) looks to rebound from their 30-29 upset loss at Northern Illinois last Wednesday as a 3-point favorite. The Cardinals are a small-underdog in this game after that deflating loss — but they have covered the point spread in 10 of their last 13 games as an underdog. Ball State has also covered the point spread in 14 of their last 18 games against teams with a winning record. Central Michigan (6-4) has won four of their last five games after their 54-30 win against Kent State last week. But the Chippewas have failed to cover the point spread in 5 of their last 7 games after a straight-up win. My free play is on the Atl Hawks at 7:40 ET.The Atlanta Hawks finished 41-31 last season and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference, after three consecutive last-place finishes in the Southeast Division. The Hawks have struggled so far in the early going with a 6-9 record as they get set to host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, The Celtics had made THREE appearances in the Eastern Conference finals in the previous four seasons before going just 36-36 last year and then losing in the opening round of the playoffs. Boston comes to Atlanta with a modest 7-7 record.
Boston enters as a winner in three of its last four games, including Monday's 98-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.The Celtics are playing without Brown and his 25.6 PPG and 6.1 RPG due to a right hamstring strain. Tatum (23.5 & 8.4) can't pick up all of the slack but Dennis Schroder, who was Atlanta's first-round draft pick in 2013 and played five seasons with the Hawks through 2018, has started five straight games for the injured Brown. Schroder scored 14 points on Monday, and six came in the crucial final 76 seconds. He scored 38 against Milwaukee on Nov 12 (his biggest output in four seasons) and is averaging 17.1-4.0-5.2 on the season. Horford is back in Boston and is averaging 13.1 & 8.8
Atlanta is led by PG Young (25.5 & 9.1 APG) and has a strong 'cast of characters.' PF Collins is averaging 16.9 & 8.0, while center Capela averages a double-double (11.0 & 11.6). Bogdanovich averages 12.3, Reddish 11.1, Hunter 10.8 and Huerter 8.1. Although the Hawks are just 6-9 on the season, that's because they are 1-8 on the road. Atlanta is 5-1 at home and has won 12 straight home games against Eastern Conference opponents. That's the second-best in franchise history and the longest such active streak in the NBA.

It's a great time to fade the Miami Heat in this spot. They return home following a five-game road trip. There is a lot of distractions they have to deal with at home when they get back from these long trips. And a lot of times they are flat in that first home game back.
The Heat are also getting a lot of love now after going 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall. But it's not all great for the Heat right now as the injuries are piling up. I have to lay the 9.5-points with the Nets at home against the Cavs tonight. Anyone that's betting on the NBA this early in the season, knows that Cleveland has been an absolute money maker for bettors. The Cavs are 9-6 SU and 10-4 ATS. A lot of people are going to want to grab the near double-digits with Cleveland, especially in this spot, as they see this as a letdown spot for Brooklyn playing on no rest after last night's huge game against the Warriors.
There's a chance the Nets have a complete no show and we lose this bet, but I think getting embarrassed the way they did is going to have them motivated.
The other big thing here, is the Cavs have recently been decimated with injuries of late. They had already been playing without two starters in Collin Sexton and Lauri Markkanen. Now they are not only without those two, but down their two big men in Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.
I think losing Allen and Mobley is huge. They are their two best rim protectors and rebounders. Combined they average 18.9 rpg and 2.5 bpg. As a team Cleveland averages 43.7 rpg and 3.8 bpg. Brooklyn is going to get a lot of easy looks in this game. Give me the Nets -9.5!

Wednesday CBB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Nebraska-Omaha and Kansas State at 8 pm et on Wednesday.
When these two teams met last season we saw a closing total of 135 points. That game ended up reaching only 118 total points. We're seeing a very slight adjustment to the total for this year's meeting. I don't believe it will prove to be enough as I anticipate another low-scoring affair in Manhattan. Of course, Omaha was one of the weakest offensive teams in the country last season. There's little reason to expect a great deal of improvement in that regard here in 2021-22. Through two games we have seen Omaha put up a combined 136 points but that was against the likes of Hastings College and Ball State. The game against Ball State was played at quite a fast pace, something we're just not likely to see on Wednesday against Kansas State. The Wildcats aren't going to have an easy time scoring points this season either. They only managed to put up 67 points in their season-opener against Florida A&M but did prevail by 10 points. After hoisting up just 50 field goal attempts in that contest, I expect more of the same in this one. Keep in mind, in last year's meeting between these two teams, the Wildcats put up 62 shots but still only managed to score 60 points. Omaha was held to only 58 points despite knocking down 8-of-19 (42%) of its three-point attempts. Take the under.

The betting public just doesn't trust the Kings enough to basically bet them to win outright on the road. I just don't know how you bet on Minnesota right now. The Wolves are 1-8 SU and 2-7 ATS over their last 9 games. They are just 2-6 ATS at home and are one of the worst offensive teams in the league. In their last 12 games they have shot better than 45% just 3 times. Sacramento has shot 50% or better in 4 of their last 7. Bet the Kings +2.5!

The Chicago Bulls are coming off two straight road wins over the Clippers and Lakers at Staples Center. This is definitely a letdown spot for them now, and they are getting a lot of love after those two wins as only a 1-point road underdog to the Portland Trail Blazers. It's a good time to jump on the Blazers after losing six of their last 10 games. They bounced back with a 118-113 home win as a 2-point favorite over Toronto last game and I expect them to handle the Bulls tonight as well. The Bulls are weak on the interior right now without Vucevic and Williams. The Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games. Portland is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings. Give me the Blazers.
