EASY ON THE SUGAR - Jockey and trainer do well when they team up. Bocachica and Farrior have been reliable together. Filly won her last race here on Jan 28th as a shipper. I think she looks like a winner once again. She has the highest (EPS) earnings per start. Take a long look at this thoroughbred. DEW DAT - Taking a drop in Equibase class figure points from her February 4th race at Charles Town. Based on that knowledge, I will give this thoroughbred the edge. Starting from the inside, this horse should have a distinct advantage. Her early pace setting style should serve her well in this short race of 4 1/2 furlongs. This animal ran outside the top 3 at Charles Town in the last race on a sloppy track. She should improve right here without a sloppy track. SENSE OF MUSIC - Filly tallied a win her last race here on Jan 27th as a shipper. I think she looks like a winner once again. This filly is almost always in-the-money. This filly is in excellent form right now. Ended up first last time out and comes back quickly.

SUPER WILDCAT - This favorite ran on January 13th and hasn't had a drill since. This lower class level horse is going to have to give a gutty effort today after those last two stretch runs. URKILLINGMEBETH - Tough to take this entrant at this price after the finish (fifth) in the last event. I find it hard to bet on this horse this time. Make her show you something in a sprint affair before you wager on her in a race of 4 1/2 furlongs. Finished fifth in her most recent race with a pedestrian speed rating. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch. ONE SMART COOKIE - Hard to put your cash on the win end of any horse that finishes second and third as frequently as this thoroughbred does.

It's a much bigger game for Troy. The Trojans still can finish second in the conference entering the tournament. Troy is home and has more motivation.
The Trojans certainly are capable of beating Texas State. They proved that in the first meeting. The Trojans won, 78-63, as a six-point road 'dog Dec. 30.

Friday NBA Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between New Orleans and Phoenix at 9:10 pm et on Friday.
I fully expected to see the Suns force the issue offensively in their first game out of the break last night, doing so with the intention of proving they can still operate at a high level offensively even without Chris Paul. Not surprisingly, they put up 120+ points in a blowout win. I'm not sure we'll see another track meet on Friday, however, yet this game is still being priced as such. Note that the 'under' is 16-4 with the Pelicans coming off consecutive losses this season, as is the case here, resulting in an average total of just 207.8 points. The Suns are coming off consecutive games in which they shot better than 50% from the field. The last five times that has happened, their next game has totalled 198, 195, 210, 175 and 199 points. Take the under.

It's another 'Battle 4 LA' tonight between two first-half disappointments, the Clippers and the Lakers. Both return from the All-Star break tied in the loss column (31), as the Crypto.com Arena con-tenants (Can I still call it Staples Center?) begin a quest to escape the NBA's play-in tournament. I'm not sure how realistic that 'quest' is, as the 30-win Clippers are FIVE games behind the No. 6 Nuggets and the 27-win Lakers are 6 1/2-games behind.

The Clippers are stuck in limbo until Paul George and Kawhi Leonard return, while after standing pat at the deadline AND losing Anthony Davis (ankle) for at least a month, LBJ may have trouble even keeping the Lakers in the play-in tournament (Lakers are currently 4 1/2-games clear of that dreaded No. 11 seed.to the playoffs?

However, I'll back the Lakers here, as they are already 0-2 against the Clippers this season. The Clippers imported Norman Powell, Robert Covington, Rodney Hood and Semi Ojeleye in two trades,, but Powell (broken left foot) was injured in his third game and Ojeleye has yet to make his team debut Meanwhile, Covington and Hood have had only minimal impact in their new uniforms.

Much to the chagrin of LeBron James, the Lakers made no moves at the trade deadline but then won 106-101 at home over the Utah Jazz last Wednesday in the club's finale before the break. Anthony Davis was lost to a sprained right foot in the Utah game, but Russell Westbrook helped take up the slack with a 17-point, seven-rebound, six-assist performance. Westbrook's previous outing was a 19-point, seven-rebound, five-assist effort in a 117-115 road loss to the Golden State. Is it possible that Westbrook could 'find his game' down the stretch? We KNOW that LBJ always brings his game (29.1-7.9-6.5), even at 37-years-old. Take the Lakers.
