A graded stakes winner over the local main track and drawn comfortably outside, the Richard Mandella-trained colt continues to impress in the morning and given the projected pace scenario simply should be much too quick for today’s field. At 5/2 on the morning line, he’s a win play and rolling exotic single.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 10

5-Big Fritz (1/1)-Won for fun versus this kind last week, and unless there is a complete form reversal this should be the winner. The 3-year-old has had issues as this is only his 5th lifetime start, but when he does race, he is 3 for 4. The lone loss was the 1st start off the bench on 11-6 when the previous race was back on 4-10.

Race 11

1-Captainofrocknroll (6-1)-Should offer a solid price and is in a spot to get a suck-around trip. Can make some noise at this level with a sharp drive.
2-Te Amo Blue Chip (3-1)-Drew off at 1/2 and now steps-up but has the speed to take another picture. Does well racing near the top of the stack and that should be the case here.
4-Rockn Motion (2-1)-Drops to the level of its last win and there isn't anyone in this field to fear. Has won 16 of 72 at Nfld and Wrenn should provide an aggressive steer.

Race 12

4-Dancin With Rose (7/2)-Lands in a good spot to pick-up another 1/2 mile win and this is only the 2nd start at Nfld. Draws well and should be a player at this level.
7-Don'tmakeafoolofme (9/2)-Kreiser trainee drops to a spot to shine. Davis Jr takes a seat and that is a positive driver change. Has been fading down the lane so missing a start might help and the post draw should improve the price.

Race 13

1-On The Cards N (8/5)-Steps-up after winning nicely from the rail as an odds-on choice. This won't be as easy but fits with this crew.

The Lions' top playmaker, D'Andre Swift, has done very little the past few weeks because of assorted injuries. The Lions no longer have T.J. Hockenson.
Jared Goff turns into Jared Goof when he has to play in cold weather instead of a temperature-controlled dome. The numbers on Goff in cold weather are an 18 point scoring average, 67 percent losses, a completion percentage under 50 percent and a turnover increase of nearly four times more than when the temperature is a non-factor. The Sunday forecast is for the temperature to be in the 30's with wind blowing at 15-20 mph.

Over that span, the Bears notched 33, 29, 32 on NE, Dallas and Miami, respectively. And those are some pretty good defenses! They followed up dropping 30 on Detroit last week. Today, Atlanta, which is one of the worst defensive teams in football, will have their hands full. The Atlanta secondary struggles to defend while the pass rush (1.3 sacks per game) doesn't help them out much. And Chicago's talented Claypool should be worked in the rotation along with Mooney, St. Brown and TE Kmet to work one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. But offensively, Atlanta can move the ball and the Bears have their defensive weaknesses - one being the run stop unit which allows 142 YPG. The #4 rush offense in the NFL should find their way in the end zone with loaded weaponry, including C. Patterson, Pitts and #1 draft choice London. Falcons are 7-1 O/U after playing Panthers. Bears, now an "over" heavy team, are 4-0 O/U after scoring more than 30 points, and 5-1 O/U off a SU loss. "Over" it is!

The Key: The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams are both a mess right now. But I think the Rams are the bigger mess, and the Saints should be favored by more at home here. The Rams are broken on offense even with Matthew Stafford returning. Their offensive line cannot protect him, and now he's going to be without his favorite weapon on Cooper Kupp, who left last game with an injury. Kupp has 75 receptions for 812 yards and 6 touchdowns this season and has been the lone bright spot on this team. He is one of the few non-QB's worth at least a point to the spread, if not more. The Saints beat the Raiders 24-0 at home two games back before losing 13-27 at home to the Ravens. Then they were in a tough spot last week going on the road and losing to a Pittsburgh team that was rested off a bye and got TJ Watt back. The Rams will offer much less resistance. They know their season is basically over at this point, while the Saints still have slim hope playing in the weak NFC South, which is led by Tampa Bay at 5-5. They're only two games back and have a fighting chance. The Rams rank 29th in scoring at 16.4 PPG and 32nd at 282.7 YPG even with a healthy Stafford and Kupp for most of the year with the exception of one game. This offense is going to be even more lost without Kupp now. The Saints rank 10th in total offense at 358.4 YPG and I trust them to move the ball more consistently this week. Take New Orleans.

The Chicago Bears became the first team in NFL history to score at least 29 points in three consecutive games and lose all three. That's because they can't stop anyone and are allowing 38.3 points per game in their last three. While their offense is good, that offense takes a hit this week with the loss of their best RB in Khalil Herbert. TE Cole Kmet is banged up and even though he is expected to play, he won't be anywhere near 100%. That's a big blow because has has scored five touchdowns the past three games. I trust this Atlanta defense to get more stops than Chicago, and for Atlanta to pretty much be able to name their score. Atlanta is a run-heavy team, and Chicago ranks 28th against the run in allowing 142 rushing yards per game. The Bears are also 24th allowing 4.7 yards per carry. Atlanta is at least respectable against the run ranking 11th in yards per carry allowed. Their big issue is their secondary, but the Bears aren't going to be able to exploit it. I like the fact that the Falcons have extra rest coming into this one after playing last Thursday. The Bears are probably pretty gassed after playing in four consecutive shootouts and not having their bye week yet. Give me the Falcons.

They’ve figured out to best utilize QB Fields over the last month and he’s been fantastic throwing for 8 TD’s and 2 interceptions while rushing for 467 yards over the last 4 games. They should have a field day vs an Atlanta defense that allows 120 YPG rushing and ranks 25th DVOA vs the rush per Football Outsiders. We’re not sure the Falcons can keep up offensively here. Their offense has gone in the tank scoring 17 points or less in 4 of their last 6 games. They have topped 315 total yards just once in their last 6 games and they’ve lost 4 of their last 6 after starting 2-2. The Birds have also gone 0-4 ATS their last 4 games after covering their first 6. Atlanta has been outgained in 9 straight games after outgaining the Saints in the opener. They rank 28th in YPP margin (Chicago ranks 20th) and since the beginning of last season the Birds have been a home favorite 6 times going 0-6 ATS and winning only 1 of those games outright. Chicago is the better team right now and getting points. We’ll take it.

Matt FargoThis is a play on the LOS ANGELES RAMS for our Sunday Free Play. The Rams season could be on the line in this game as a loss here drops them to 3-7 and possibly three games out of the final playoff spot in the NFC with a 49ers win on Monday night. Los Angeles has dropped three straight games as the offense has gotten nothing with just 14.7 ppg and 228.4 ypg over that stretch and now they have to go on without Cooper Kupp who is out with an ankle injury. New Orleans has dropped two straight and four of its last five games and is a half-game behind the Rams in the Wild Card picture so this game is important for them as well but they are one of the most banged up teams in the league with nine starters out. They will try to get Alvin Kamara going but he has been a big disappointment this season as well as will go up against a Rams rushing defense that is No. 6 in adjusted run defense EPA. The New Orleans defense has played well for the most part but could struggle against the Rams passing game as the Saints are No. 22 in passing defense EPA, and their pass rush is No. 26 in pressuring the quarterback. Here, we play against home favorites averaging between 18 and 23 ppg after two straight losses by 10 or more points going up against teams allowing between 18 and 23 ppg. I don't feel this game has shootout potential as the Eagles look to bounce back from Monday's divisional loss to the Commanders - their first setback of the season - and the Colts find themselves in a clear letdown situation traveling home after an 'upset' win in Las Vegas. I fully expect to see the Eagles offense play 'keep-away' in this one as they continue to battle through the absence of top run-stopper, DT Jordan Davis. Philadelphia hasn't proven capable of slowing opposing ground attacks in Davis' absence and will certainly want to keep the football out of Colts RB Jonathan Taylor's hands as much as possible here. Somewhat vulnerable in the secondary as well, at least in the middle of the field, the Eagles don't figure to be exploited by the Colts lukewarm passing attack. Indianapolis, while struggling for stretches, has for the most part been able to limit its opponents' offensive ceilings, allowing no more than 27 points in a game this season - that coming back in mid-October against Jacksonville. Here, we'll note that the 'under' is 26-11 in the Eagles last 37 games following three consecutive 'over' results, as is the case here, leading to an average total of 40.6 points in that situation. The 'under' is also 42-25 in the Colts last 67 games following a two-game road trip, resulting in an average total of 44.0 points in that spot. Take the under.

Sunday's Free NFL Pick is on the New Orleans Saints as a 2.5-point home dog against the Los Angeles Rams. New Orleans should be a bigger favorite in this one. The Rams have been one of the most overrated teams in the league this season, which was to be expected after winning the Super Bowl. LA is just 3-6 SU and 2-6-1 ATS. I know it's been a similar story for New Orleans, but it only figures to get worse for the Rams now that they won't have Cooper Kupp to run their offense thru. Kupp has really been the entire offense for LA, as they are so bad at running the ball they don't even try to establish it. Kupp leads the Rams with 75 catches for 812 yards and 6 TDs. The next best in receptions and yards is tight end Tyler Higbee with 44 catches for 385 yards. There's also been just 3 other TD passes thrown to someone other than Kupp. I just don't think there's much fight left in this team and with an offense that can't score, it's going to take a lot to go right for them to just keep this game close. Bet the Saints -2.5!

Divisional UNDERS are 31-16 in 2022. This will be the second meeting between the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders already this season. Familiarity favors defense and low scoring games, and I expect this to be a defensive battle in Denver Sunday afternoon.
These are two broken offenses that just aren't working due to injuries and poor play. Amazingly, Denver would be 8-1 if they just scored 18 points or more in every game this season. Instead they are 3-6, which just goes to show how good their defense has played. The UNDER is 8-1 in all Denver games this season.
The Broncos rank dead last (32nd) in the NFL in scoring at 14.6 points per game. They are also 27th averaging just 5.1 yards per play. The offensive line cannot protect Russell Wilson as he was sacked six times by the Titans last week. He is also holding onto the ball too long. Wilson's job gets even tougher this week knowing he's going to be down two of his favorite weapons in Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler. Jeudy left the Titans' game early and the Broncos couldn't do anything without him.
Denver is going to have to rely on its running game to move the football in this one. It will also be able to rely on a defense that is probably the most underrated in all of the NFL. The Broncos rank 1st in scoring defense allowing just 16.6 points per game. They also rank 2nd in total defense at 290.4 yards per game and 1st allowing just 4.6 yards per play.
The Raiders are broken on offense right now, too. They have averaged just 13.3 points per game in their last three games against the Saints, Jaguars and Colts. Derek Carr really misses two of his favorite weapons in TE Darren Waller and WR Hunter Renfrow. Those two have been his security blankets, especially on 3rd downs. They are too predictable now as teams just have to focus on stopping Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs.
This isn't the best Las Vegas defense, but they did hold the Broncos to 299 total yards in the first meeting this season. Their job will be much easier the second time around given the state of this Denver offense. Eight of the last 12 meetings between the Broncos and Raiders have seen 41 or fewer combined points. The UNDER is 9-3 in those 12 meetings. The UNDER is 45-21-1 in Broncos last 67 games overall. Bet the UNDER in this game Sunday.

This Sunday in a battle between two AFC West combatants that both had high hopes for the season, and I think we would all agree, both have fallen way short of expectations. I want to talk about the Las Vegas Raiders traveling to Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos. Both Las Vegas and Denver came into this season thinking that they were playoff contenders. Well as we passed the halfway point of the regular season campaign, they are a combined 5-13. Sports fans it would take a miracle for either one of these teams to make the postseason. However, being a resident of Las Vegas for 32 years, I know this Raiders team. I have made money going against them a few times this season, I’ll admit that (just last week with the Colts wink wink nudge nudge). However now knowing that their postseason hopes are basically nonexistent, takes a lot of pressure off of the Raiders. As far as the Broncos go, no matter how good your defense is, it just can’t compensate for an offense that scores less than 15-points a game. Having said that one of the few bright spots over the last few years for Las Vegas is that they have dominated Denver. Going back to 2018, they have taken seven of the last eight meeting straight up. Just since the beginning of last season they have won all three matchups over their division rival. As tough as Denver is, Vegas has manhandled them in recent matchups. Beating Denver is something that Las Vegas head Coach Josh McDaniels takes a lot of joy in doing. He was tossed aside from the team more than a decade ago. Trust me, this is a game that he and his squad can let out their frustrations. As I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t matter how good your defense is, when your offense can only muster a dismal 14.6-points per game, eventually your stop-unit is going to get overworked, fatigued, and tired. I look for Vegas to take advantage of a spent Denver “D” here, and get a well-needed win while earning their head coach a little bit of payback. The Broncos are 4-13 ATS their last 17 vs. the AFC and 4-9 ATS their last 13 games overall. Take the Raiders. Thank you.

Brandon LeeSunday's Free NFL Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers +4


I'll take my chances with the Steelers as a 4-point home dog against the Bengals on Sunday. I just feel like there's too much value with Pittsburgh catching more than a field goal on their home field in this one.
I just think Cincinnati is getting a little too much respect coming off of last week's 42-21 blowout win at home against the Panthers. It wasn't even as close as the final score would indicate, as the Bengals led 35-0 at the half and 42-7 going into the 4th quarter.
It was quite the turnaround for Cincinnati's offense, which couldn't get anything going in their first game without Jamar Chase, losing 13-32 to the Browns. Thing is, it wasn't Burrow and the passing game that got things figured out. It was Carolina's inability to stop the run, as Cincinnati rushed for 241 yards with Joe Mixon rushing for 153 yards and 4 scores.
I just don't see the Bengals offense having that kind of success on the ground against this Steelers defense, especially now that T.J. Watt is back in the lineup. In Watt's first game back since Week 1, the Steelers held the Saints to just 29 rushing yards. Cincinnati did rush for 133 yards in the Week 1 meeting between these two teams, but only averaged a mere 3.9 yards/carry.
Keep in mind the Bengals offensive line had no answers for Watt and the Steelers pass rush in that game, as Burrow was sacked 7 times and hit 11 times. I just have a hard time seeing where the offense is going to come from for Pittsburgh without Chase, who had 10 catches for 129 yards in the first meeting.
I can't say I'm expecting a ton out of the Steelers offense either, but I think they can do enough here to at the very least get the cover. I really think if they can take care of the football and not put their defense in a bad spot, they can win this game going away. Either way I think it's at worst a field goal game. Give me the Steelers +4!
