The solitary Victorian meeting this Tuesday will be at Geelong Racing Club when they host a competitive eight-race program. The track is currently rated a Soft 6 and with some rain forecast on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, we don’t expect to get anything better than the current rating on race day. The rail will be in the 8m position from the 1700m to the 800m mark and in the 10m position for the remainder of the track.
Geelong Best Bet: Ellen’s Licence

In the first leg of the quaddie we have found our best bet of the day in the form of the Patrick Payne-trained Ellen’s Licence, who is coming off a very encouraging run in defeat at the Ballarat Synthetic track over 1400m on October 27. This four-year-old mare is lightly raced with only the four starts in her career, recording a win and two placings from those starts. This girl finished second behind Hafey last start who has good metropolitan form after running in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes earlier in the year. If Daniel Stackhouse can get into the one-one position upon settling with a good jump from barrier six, this girl should get to the outside and look to run on late and be too good for this field second-up on Tuesday.

Geelong Next Best Bet: Girl

In the last race of the day Leon & Troy Corstens will have their three-year-old filly, Girl, at the races for the third time after winning her second start of her career last start over 1300m at Bendigo on November 9. This daughter of Zoustar was very impressive at her most recent start where she led for the majority of the 1300m event, before being tested on the outside on the home turn, but showed her class by kicking back and putting the field away within 100m to win by just over two lengths, throttled down before the line. John Allen will take the ride on this girl once again on Tuesday after riding her to victory last start at Bendigo and if he can get a similar run from barrier four at Geelong, this girl will give a massive sight out in front and give this field something to chase.

Our best value will be the Peter Moody-trained The Big Freeze in race seven over 1143m, coming off a good second at his most recent run at Moe on November 7. This son of Pride Of Dubai has been good at his last three starts, including a win over 1214m at Moe two starts back on a Soft track. If the track stays in the Soft range or even gets into the Heavy range, there should be no problems for this guy and he may even improve in the rain affected going. Thomas Stockdale will look to cross the field and sit outside the leader, so if he can get there without doing too much work, this gelding will give us a good sight.

#7 Single Saturday She's a good fit here right now, and she should be able to find a pretty good spot right up on whatever pace there is. Might have found the right group at a playable enough price?
#3 Cali Dropper finds herself in for a tag for the first time, and she has occasionally stayed on at the kind of grinding pace that might allow her to score with this much softer bunch. The one to beat?
#1 L L Cool Grey She'd be no surprise while getting back down with maiden claiming company, but I think her turf form might be a touch better than on dirt right now, and she has already had a chance at this kind of level. Capable underlay?
Race Summary Single Saturday meets a couple droppers here, and there isn't a whole lot of pace signed on, so she might be in line for a great trip while getting the jump on anything from off the splits.

Remington Park - Race #7
Picks Notes
#10 Fearless Will Versatile player can adapt to pretty much any way this race unfolds, and he's in reliable form right now that should have him right up the splits again here. Lots to like.
#4 Rosie's Outlaw Tough call here, as I'm a little concerned about the drop after a string of mostly nice efforts with better, but we're nearing the end of the meet and this barn will get aggressive with this type. Guessing he's tough.
#5 Sedaris He beat a couple of these two starts back before a mostly even effort in that starter stakes spot, and he's interesting while returning back to that kind of spot. Capable.
Race Summary Fearless Will has the kind of positional pace to get the jump on some of the finishing threats, and he draws well for the kind of trip that might get him home. Think he's a good alternative to the likely chalk.

Remington Park - Race #9
Picks Notes
#7 Jersey Jim Riser didn't miss by a whole lot in the debut run, and that was the kind of effort that would probably be competitive here if he is able to bring something similar while facing a classier bunch. Decent lean in the finale.
#5 From Pit to Palace I actually like this guy a lot in here, but I have a little concern that he gets caught up in the pace with a couple other forward players and some debuters lined up in the gate with him. Wouldn't be a shock, but he also might have to work too hard early here.
#9 Gunflash He brings a couple of pretty forward-looking works on paper and wouldn't be a surprise at first asking for this team. Outside draw lets his rider force the issue as he wants.
Race Summary Jersey Jim steps up to try special weight company after a useful debut run with $25,000 company, and he might get a good go of things while in close range behind the pace of From Pit to Palace.

Sacramento is on an incredible run of offensively basketball right now, having made good on 47 or more field goals in four consecutive games entering Tuesday's clash with the undermanned Grizzlies. With Memphis sagging defensively, yielding 43, 45 and 50 made field goals to its last three opponents, there's reason to believe the Kings red hot offensive tear will continue here. The question is whether the Grizzlies can do their part to help this one 'over' the total without a number of key contributors. I believe that they can. Memphis continues to push the pace at every opportunity, hoisting up 92 or more field goal attempts in four consecutive games. Now they face a very forgiving Kings defense that has allowed 10 straight opponents to make good on 40 or more field goals with six of those foes knocking down 44 or more field goals. This is a matchup the Grizzlies have absolutely thrived in going back to last season, scoring 124 or more points in all four meetings, including a 125-110 win in Sacramento earlier this season. Take the over.

They usually hit stride the second time using it, like we have with this horse. This filly recorded a good speed figure of 79 in her last race. I have to support STREET CULTURE here. Has respectable early speed and should fare soundly against this group of horses in this race. This gelding ought to be given a shot just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint races alone. Rice has this gelding racing well and is a respectable pick based on the quite good speed figs garnered in sprint races lately. DEVIL OR ANGEL - Has been constatntly running well recently. Formidable jockey and conditioner combo winning 18 percent of their races working together. HANGOUT - Looks very good against this group of horses in this race and will probably be one of the front-runners. This gelding with Worrie in the irons makes him a definite contender.

BB LUCKY BOY has a respectable shot to take this outing. Could surprise us at a favorable price. Don't leave out. He's performing in fine form, recording very strong TrackMaster Speed Ratings. While their hot start is a distant memory, this should be a good place for the Sabres to get back on track. They're getting healthier and come in well-rested. The Habs have been scoring goals lately but they're also giving up a lot of them. Off a 5-4 OT win over the Flyers, note that they're 1-6 their last seven, after scoring five or more goals. Going back further finds Montreal at an ugly 24-47 (-30.1) the past 2+ seasons, when facing a a team with a losing record. Don't be surprised when the Sabres snap their losing streak and avenge an earlier home loss.

Play: Ball State/Miami OH Total Over 44.0 (-110)

Both teams are looking to become bowl eligible, but only one will do it Tuesday when 5-6 Ball State meets 5-6 Miami in the regular season finale. Miami was a winner for me last Wednesday when they went to Northern Illinois and prevailed 29-23. Ball State is off a 32-18 home loss to Ohio. The Cardinals have lost three of four while the RedHawks have lost three of five. So I'm not interested in playing either side here.

When handicapping this matchup, perhaps the most interesting thing is that Ball State has gone Under in six consecutive games. There is a chance they could be without RB Steele after he suffered a concussion last week. And we aren't 100 percent clear on who will be playing QB for Miami this week as Gabbert (ankle) didn't play at all last week. But the backup, Aveon Smith, has seen plenty of action this season and accounted for three touchdowns last week.

The Under is a combined 16-6 for these two teams this season (both 8-3). But looking at the O/U line for tonight, it's the lowest for any Ball State game this season. Yes, the Cardinals have gone Under six straight times, but four of those games have seen 46 or more total pts scored. As for Miami, there's a chance this could close as their lowest O/U for the season as well. I know there are key injuries to both offenses, but the best move here is taking the Over. There's definitely value in the current number, especially if RB Steele were to play for BSU. I'm fine with whomever plays QB for Miami.
