ALTO ROAD - Difficult to pass on this colt with Fuentes in the irons. Has to be given a shot for this event if only for the formidable speed figure garnered in the last contest. ALGEBRA - This pony has a terrific winning percentage in dirt sprints. Overall the Speed Figures of this animal look very strong in this affair.

KHADULLAH - Last raced at Saratoga carrying 5 pounds more. The lower weight assigned in this field should serve him well. Have to forget about that last race on the turf. This colt should do better hitting the dirt today. INONIT - Horse didn't get the best of trips in his debut. I look for an improvement today. That 64 fig this colt garnered in his last race tells me he's a major player in today's event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 WISECRACKER (ML=5/2), #6 PANDAGATE (ML=3/1), #1 MAMA'S MIDDIE (ML=7/2),

WISECRACKER - The finish position of sixth in the last event shows me that this horse may be going off form. Not likely that the fig he garnered on September 4th will be good enough in this race. PANDAGATE - I just don't possess a good sensation about this mount in this affair. MAMA'S MIDDIE - Last ran on Aug 12th at Saratoga, finishing sixth. Unlikely to get better off of that try in today's event.

MOLIERE - Faced tougher last time around the track at Parx Racing. Based on Equibase class figures, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of contenders. LIFESPAN - Was in a $6,250 Claiming race at Delaware Park in the last race. That event had a class number of 86 and he is moving down right here in this race. A certain win candidate. This horse ran off the board at Delaware Park in the last race on the mud. He should improve right here under better track conditions.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 SALTY HEIR (ML=5/2), #2 WARRIOR IN CHIEF (ML=6/1), #8 ROARING RIVER (ML=8/1),

SALTY HEIR - Couldn't close any ground at any point on Sep 7th. Hard to bet on this time around at the expected odds. This racer ran a most unsatisfactory speed fig last time out. He shouldn't run much better and will likely lose in today's race running that number. WARRIOR IN CHIEF - Doubtful that this questionable contender can take the punishment of another grueling run down the stretch after the last two efforts. The speed figure last time out doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's race. Mark this mount as a likely underlay. ROARING RIVER - Hard to put your cash on the win end of any entrant that finishes second and third as often as this thoroughbred does.

ITASCA - Jock hops back aboard after getting to know the horse by riding last time around the track. That's always a helpful angle. Be loyal to this racer. Coming off the pace, I think he'll be in a fantastic spot to crush them in the stretch. This gelding is in fine form, having run a good race on September 26th, finishing third. BOURBON WISDOM - This thoroughbred coming off a good effort in the last month is a contender in my humble opinion. MY BROTHER CAM - Have to make this gelding a serious competitor; he comes off a solid effort on September 26th. ROYAL DRAGOON - Bowen and Urieta getting together are a horse gambler's friend. Have to give this gelding a shot. Ran a strong effort last race out within the last month or so.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ZERO GRAVITY (ML=5/2), #2 CINDY'S STORM (ML=9/2),

ZERO GRAVITY - The speed ratings continue to drop, 96/85/76. Not a good signal. Don't feel this racer will make an impact in today's race. That last rating was mediocre when compared with today's class rating. CINDY'S STORM - Tough to keep stabbing at this sort of 'hanger' horse. Doubtful that the speed fig he earned on Sep 28th will be good enough in this race.

I think MORNING ADDICTION is a very strong choice. He has been racing well lately while recording strong speed figures. Jockey's recent return on investment figures make this horse a good wager. Will most likely be one of the leaders of the group going into the halfway point of the competition. BLUEBERRY MUFFIN - Has to be given consideration in this event if only for the quite good speed figure put up in the last race. Cruz has a win percentage of 24 over the last month. AIR FORCE WOMAN - This mare has a good win percent in dirt sprint races. Like the finish positions in the last several events.

KHADULLAH - Last raced at Saratoga carrying 5 pounds more. The lower weight assigned in this field should serve him well. Have to forget about that last race on the turf. This colt should do better hitting the dirt today. INONIT - Horse didn't get the best of trips in his debut. I look for an improvement today. That 64 fig this colt garnered in his last race tells me he's a major player in today's event.

WISECRACKER - The finish position of sixth in the last event shows me that this horse may be going off form. Not likely that the fig he garnered on September 4th will be good enough in this race. PANDAGATE - I just don't possess a good sensation about this mount in this affair. MAMA'S MIDDIE - Last ran on Aug 12th at Saratoga, finishing sixth. Unlikely to get better off of that try in today's event.

Woodbine Mohawk Park has a 13-race card with the headliners being Ontario breds battling in Gold Super Finals action. The 0.20 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 4, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 4 (8:29 PM EST)

2-Its A Love Thing (8/5)-This filly comes off a huge win in the $540,000 Great Lady Final and has a bigger bankroll than the morning line chalk Pass Line. It would be no surprise if driver James MacDonald is posing after this race and should be forwardly placed throughout.
7-Pass Line (7/5)-The Burke brigade owns and as with the one above Dave Menary trains. This 8-time winner in 10 starts with a 4-race win streak and is going to be difficult to beat. This appears to be a 2-horse battle for a picture. Burke's top call driver, Yannick Gingras gets the assignment and for my money this one appears to be just a shade better than her stablemate.

Race 5 (8:52 PM EST)

1-Duchenne (2-1)-Betting Line filly drew off by more than 4-lengths over this type last week. Got the jump and was able to win by open lengths while only needing a 28.4 last quarter to get that margin. Looks like the one to beat and will be a small price but this probably won't be as easy.
2-JM Betonsix (7/2)-Finished a distant 3rd in the same race as the one above. Came 1st over into some swift fractions and that did not work. This mare has been consistently in the hunt at Wbsb. Has hit the board in 18 of 31 in 2023 and if #1 doesn't seal the deal this gal could post a win.

Race 6 (9:15 PM EST)

3-Willowtime (5/2)-Suffered a break as an odds-on choice and lost all chance. Has won 3 of 4 races and could be greener than the rest who have more starts under their belt. This is a serious player and has a distinct post edge on other top foes.
9-Griff (4-1)-Should offer a square price with this post draw and has shown the ability to fly by the competition down the stretch. If the son of Muscle Mass is within striking range at the top of the lane it could be picture time.
10-Myretirementdream (8-1)-The post draw certainly makes it more difficult. But Jody Jamieson has some gate speed to work with and could end up in a decent seat. The price is right and it's best to not dismiss.

Race 7 (9:38 PM EST)

1-Funtime Bayama-The Moreau trainee has been dominant versus this kind. Sylvain Fillion is at the controls again and will look to extend the 4-race win streak. Should take control off the gate and could make every call a winning one.

#1 Wish Man
I have some worry that he might be along too late, but no real arguments from me on the debut score when coming away late with a rush. Some reasonable upside today could make him tough.

Race Summary
My Buddy Mel might offer an attractive enough price in a spot where Classic Rock is likely to get bet, and deservingly so. Hoping 'Mel has a little upside at this point in his 2-year-old season after a few months away.

#6 Jaxon Traveler
Graded stakes winner has a handful of lines on his page that would drill this group, but I'm a little worried about all the need-the-lead pace signed on even at this short trip. Wouldn't surprise to see him emerge from the early scramble to take this.

#4 Empire of Gold
Gave him a lot of consideration in here, as he has a little bit of class to him and is probably capable of tucking in just behind the pace today. Might be able to make and sustain a move like last time a bit better in this spot.

Race Summary
Alto Road has his work cut out for him while facing a couple horses who have earned more than a half-million dollars each, but I think he might get an OK finishing trip here after the committed early burners hook up.

Remington Park - Race #9

Honestly have no clue what kind of price we're going to get here, but I'm not sure he's going to get all that lost here with a pretty sharp page if you isolate just the turf running lines. Surface switch offers hope for better.

#4 Bender
Liked him quite a bit last out at 13/1, but he caught a pretty reliable winner that day who can be really tough on his best. This guy rallied well and figures to show up again, but it's fair to wonder whether he'll be too late.

#10 Pepper Jack
He's another with some fairly honest finishing form, and his versatility in running style could serve him well while his rider works to find a spot from a wide draw.

Race Summary
#6 Mint and #8 Wilton both have logical chances in here and are worth consideration, but Mor Victory has plenty of room to bounce back here at what I'm hoping will remain a mildly playable price.

This is a play on the STANFORD CARDINAL+11.5 for our Friday Free Play. We played against Colorado in this spot last week and will go against the Buffaloes again here. They are coming off a three-point win at Arizona St. which snapped a two-game losing streak which came against USC and Oregon so they remain facing a team that is down. That being said, they are laying a big number playing their seventh straight game without a bye and now playing on short rest after playing late Saturday night last week. While the offense got its running game going against USC two weeks ago, it regressed against and Colorado has rushed for 70 yards or fewer in five of its six games. Defensively, the Buffaloes were gashed through the air once again and against a not so good quarterback. Stanford opened the season with a win at Hawaii but has since lost its last four games, the last three all coming at home. The Cardinal are coming off a bye week however and catch a tired team that is of course overvalued again. Two of the home losses came by one possession while the other two came against USC and Oregon so it has been a similar stretch for both teams as far as opposition goes. The passing game has struggled but as mentioned, the Colorado defense is bad against the pass, currently No. 129 in the country. Here, we play on road underdogs after two consecutive game where they committed no turnovers going up against an opponent after two consecutive game where they committed 1 or less turnovers. Friday CFB Free play. My selection is on Stanford plus the points over Colorado at 10 pm et on Friday.

The Cardinal had their doors blown off by Oregon when we last saw them take the field two weeks ago. The bye week came at the right time as Stanford looks to right the ship with this high-profile matchup against Coach Prime's Colorado Buffaloes on Friday night in Boulder. Stanford's schedule to this point has been tough. Even a season-opening trip to Hawaii wasn't ideal (it did win that game by double-digits) and while it did lose to an FCS squad in September, that was against fifth-ranked Sacramento State. The Cardinal have also gone up against USC and Arizona in Pac-12 play, splitting those two games ATS. One thing we know about Colorado is that it has a tendency to let its opponents stick around. Last week, the Buffaloes won by three points at Arizona State. In fact, four of their six games this season have been decided by eight points or less. With the eyes of the nation firmly planted on this primetime game, I don't think Stanford gets embarrassed for a second straight contest. Take Stanford.
