CAPACITY is my choice. Likely to see this animal to be close up on the wire versus these mounts. Has quite good Equibase Class Figures relative to this group - worth a look. With a sound 51 average speed fig at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. ACCELERAY - This gelding looks strong for this race since Uranga has a sharp win percent with horses going this distance. Overall, this handler has been lucrative at this distance/surface. GOTHAM'S FINALE - Lawrence is trying to score with this entrant by bringing him back so soon. Lawrence has him trained soundly to break rapidly out of the starting gate.

KRUSIN ROCKET - I usually like playing sprinters who are 3-4 races into a comeback.

STEALTHTHIRTYFOUR - I'd like to see better recent outings with oddsmaker's morning line of 5/2. MYSTIC MINISTER - This colt raced very well on October 10th placing second, but hasn't even visited the track since then. Not really a good sign. When examining today's Equibase class figure, he will have to register a better speed fig than last time around the track to compete in this dirt sprint. HAPPY YEARS - Not easy to bet on any horse in a short distance race at 4/1 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last sixty days. Mediocre speed figure last time out at Mountaineer Park at 1 mile. Don't think this racer will improve too much in today's race.

I'M A LUCKY MAN - Ran last time out against tougher competition at Golden Gate Fields. The move down in the class scale should suit him well. This horse is tops in earnings per race. He looks sharp in today's event. TAHOE SECRETS - Many positive 'vibrations' joined to this pony and his connections. NEW YORK DREAMS (GB) - Jock jumped on this gelding's back for the first ride on October 9th. Should 'know' the horse even better this time. HEARTBREAK KID - Looking at today's class rating, this horse is meeting an easier group than last out at Santa Anita.

TOO MUCH INFO - This runner ran a mediocre speed figure last race out. He shouldn't improve and will probably get beat today running that figure. KISLOVODSK - 5/1 is not pegged at the proper price for any thoroughbred in a sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs that hasn't finished in the money in a sprint event recently. STAN FROM MALIBU - In any race of 5 1/2 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been looking good in sprint contests recently.

Should come out very solid - I have liked the way this gelding has moved speedily to the front end recently. He has very good class ratings, averaging 82, and has to be considered in here. BY ITS ABSENCE - Ran a sharp last race. Reliable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this animal a solid contender.

I believe she can augment that total in today's race. BUCCHERA - This jockey and conditioner have a high winning percent together.

TOPPER'S CHIEFTESS - Chavez and Steiner perform well when they team up. It's hard to beat a +37 ROI for a jockey and trainer. Was in a Maiden Special race at Golden Gate Fields in the last race. That event had a class rating of 84 and she is moving down in this field. A certain strong challenger. Gets help from Steiner with the addition of Lasix. COPPER BO TEN - I think that this race's shorter distance should help this filly. Looking at today's class figure, this horse is up against an easier field than in the last race at Del Mar. She has the highest earnings per start. Take a long look at this horse. You have to consider the solid works of late.HEAVENLY VIOLET - I like the fact that this first timer's recent works have been over this track. A winning percentage the likes of what Roman and Tamayo have achieved together is terrific. A solid handicapping angle is going on Lasix for the first time. Tamayo gives it to this one for this event.

DORINE'S WILD CAT - Way too far back on September 22nd for me to support at the probable odds in today's sprint clash. Hasn't finished in the money in any short distance races recently. Not probable to see her doing it this time around either.VALERIE - Tough to keep stabbing at this kind of 'hanger' horse. Golden Gate Fields is not nice digs to this steed. CHURCH HARBOR - Just don't figure that she is offering enough value at the likely odds.

CARMEN N THE DEVIL - Many selectors know speed is is such an important factor. This harness racer has credentials with a 79 average statistic. Nice driver/handler, winning 19 percent of the time. Is tough to overlook as a magnificent wager. SUNBURNT - Is a bang-up choice given the 77 TrackMaster Speed Rating from her most recent race. When the trainer Burke puts Wrenn up for the drive good things happen. All you need to do is look at the 33 win percent.

Hard not to give the nod to TWIN B IMPRESSIVE as the top selection in this contest. His 78 avg has this gelding among the most respectable TrackMaster Speed Ratings for this race. Seems to have a really strong class edge based on the entrants he has faced. Competing competitively, recorded a substantial speed rating in his last contest (74). SOHO LEVIATHAN A - Definitely the class of the race with an average rating of 76. A nice selection. Had one of the most favorable speed ratings of the group of horses in his last contest. I'd recommend using in your bets.AMERICAN MAVERICK - Reason to like this gelding as he has in the cart one of the best drivers in win percentage the last 30 days. The consortium can't help but lean toward this interesting entrant because the internal pace statistics fit well here at Cumberland Raceway.

PICKS NOTES
#6 Sea of Cortez Think this is a top-heavy race between this guy and the next one, but I like the appeal of going sprint to route here with some upside while making the second start off the long break.
#3 Legislator Finisher tends to run to his competition, so I wouldn't want too short of a price after failing to score with similar last out, but I also don't think that was his true baseline effort.
#1 Caribbean King He has been a pretty honest one through four starts, but he has so far lacked a final gear to keep him in the mix on the wire. Wouldn't be a total shock.
Race Summary Sea of Cortez can be tough here with any more forward off a good sprint comeback, and I'm hoping Legislator will take a bit too much cash and leave 'Cortez at a playable price.

Santa Anita - Race #8
PICKS NOTES
#4 Anisette They've got her in another reasonable spot after trying the Breeders' Cup prep with older last time out, and she looks like a very tough fit right back with 3-year-olds. Talent should get her home here.
#7 Star of the Night She's short on class so far, but she has looked pretty good through two races and has already established a pretty respectable performance level. Tactical speed gives her some advantage.
#2 Impact Warrior She couldn't quite hang with the top choice when they met at Del Mar, but she has rarely run a bad one and figures in the frame for another piece.
Race Summary Strong lean to Anisette at what is sure to be a short price, as the one who beat her last out when to the Breeders' Cup yesterday, and all of this one's tries with straight 3-year-olds have been extremely sharp.

Santa Anita - Race #10
PICKS NOTES
#1 Lahaina Flavor Think we'll get a pretty good price here after the flat running line last out, but he didn't get a great chance to stretch his legs in the lane that day and might offer better this time around.
#4 Stamp My Passport He has back turf form that would make him tough in here with a perfect slate from two tries over the surface, and he typically shows some positional pace that would leave him in a great spot early on. Obvious player.
#8 Evening Sun He has run into a couple tough ones in those recent starts, and he looks like a pretty decent with on paper with this group. Not out of it.
Race Summary Lahaina Flavor will be an aggressive single for me to close out the day -- willing to let things fly with him after a tricky trip last time out.

To put this into perspective. Cousins is 2nd in the league in passing yards ahead of the likes of Mahomes, Goff and Allen. He had 18 TD’s to 5 INT’s and completed 63.5% of his passes. He’s gone now and Jaren Hall will be his replacement. Hall is a rookie that was drafted in the 5th round making his first start on the road against a solid Falcons defense. Not to mention Hall/Vikings don’t have a running game to rely on to relieve the pressure on this young QB. The Vikings are 31st in rushing yards per game, 31st in rushing attempts and average just 3.6 yards per rush which is 29th. Hall will face a Falcons defense that allows the 8th fewest passing yards per game and is 10th in opposing QB’s completion percentage. Atlanta is making a change at quarterback with veteran Taylor Heinike taking over for the turnover prone Desmond Ridder who has 6 INT’s and 4 fumbles this season. Heinicke has 34 careers starts and even started a full season for the Commanders. Unlike the Vikings/Hall, Heinicke doesn’t have to carry the load either as he has a Falcons rushing attack that is 10th in the league in rushing yards per game at 126. With the Vikings injuries we have no problem laying the points with the Falcons here.

I'm all over the Cardinals on Sunday. But this is a game with a lot of question marks. Namely the two teams' starting QB's.

Arizona can score points and they don't give up in games. They'll fight you till the end of the 60 minutes. The Cards put up 24 in Week 8, and are a team that will hang with anyone in the NFL. They may not win games, but they're not throwing in the towel on their season either. A testament to the coaching going on in the desert.

Check out the end of week injury reports for the Browns. They're banged up. Starting with Watson their starting QB. 15+ guys on the injury report currently. Half of that even participated in Wed. practice. For Arizona Dobbs was traded to the Vikings in the wake of the Cousins end of season injury.

We've got word that Tune will be the starter here. That isn't going to change this play as thee Cards still match up here. They know they have to open the playbook up against the Browns and they should be able to find success against a defense that is all of a sudden struggling.

Look for some short check downs and runs in this one to start, which will put the Browns defense up close to the line of scrimmage. Tune can sling the ball and once the Browns start stacking the box, it's going to allow him some openings down field.

Arizona will be much more aggressive in this game than they've been in recent weeks. This is a bit off a trap spot for the Browns too.

The Cards can keep this close and have a chance to even steal it outright.

Some trends to note, Arizona are 4-1 ATS in their L5 games against Cleveland, and are 5-0 SU in their L5 games against Cleveland. On the other side Cleveland are 1-7 SU in their L8 games against an opponent in the NFC West.

Packers are averaging 4.1 ppg in the 1st of games this season. Rams offense will probably be without Matthew Stafford and there's a chance star rookie wide out Puka Nacua won't play in this one. As long as we don't see a ton of turnovers or big special teams plays, I just don't see enough offense for these two teams to sniff 40 points. Give me the UNDER 38.5!

The Raptors check in off a double-digit loss in Philadelphia on Thursday but should rebound here noting that they're a long-term 152-117 ATS when coming off a loss by 15 points or more. Meanwhile, the Spurs are just 33-50 ATS in their last 83 games as an underdog. Take Toronto.

Jack's Free Pick Sunday: Colts/Panthers OVER 44 -109

The Indianapolis Colts are a dead nuts OVER team right now. They have had the worst defense in the NFL over the last three weeks, and their offense has been forced to try and keep pace. Even this weak Panthers offense is going to find success against this Colts defense in what should be a shootout Sunday afternoon.

The Colts have gone 6-2 OVER in their eight games this season with 51 or more combined points in six of those eight games. They are down three starters in the secondary plus run-stuffer Glover Stewart, who was suspended for six games. Starting LB Zaire Franklin didn't practice on Thursday and is also questionable to play Sunday.

All these injuries are a big reason why the Colts have allowed 37 points to the Jaguars, 39 to the Browns and 38 to the Saints the last three weeks. The Saints were previously terrible offensively this season prior to facing the Colts, and then erupted to 511 total yards last week.

That's why I believe this previously dead Carolina offense will have their way as well. The Panthers had a bye two weeks ago, and head coach Frank Reich swallowed his pride and handed over play-calling duties to Thomas Brown. He simplified things for rookie QB Bryce Young, while also adding more motion and taking more downfield shots last week against Houston. It wasn't spectacular going up against a good Houston defense, but the Panthers won 15-13.

I think the fact that the Panthers played in such a low scoring game last week is keeping this total lower than it should be. The first game with a new offensive coordinator didn't go perfect as expected, but Brown and Young should be more on the same page this week against the Colts. Look for them to open things up and to take shots against what is arguably the worst secondary in the NFL.

The Colts will get their points just as they do every week. They are the only team in the NFL to score at least 20 points in every game. They average 25.6 points per game and 362 yards per game this season. Gardner Minshew makes plenty of plays for his own team, but he also makes plenty of plays for the other team as he has been a turnover machine. The Colts have nine turnovers the last three weeks, which is a big reason they are 0-3 during this stretch. That has created easy scoring opportunities for opponents.

The Panthers also have key injuries on defense. They were already without Jeremy Chinn, Jaycee Horn and Shaq Thompson, which are three of their best defensive players. Now they are without LB Justin Houston and SS Vonn Bell. This is a poor Carolina defense that allows 28.4 points per game and 5.7 yards per play this season. It's actually a big step down in defensive class for the Colts after facing the Saints, Browns, Jaguars and Titans the last four weeks.

The forecast looks good for a shootout in Carolina on Sunday with temps in the 70's, sunny skies and only 5 MPH winds at Bank of America Stadium. I really like OVERS in non-conference games because these teams just aren't familiar with one another. That favors the offenses and that will be the case in this one. Bet the OVER in this game Sunday.

This is a play on the LAS VEGAS RAIDERS-1.5 for our Sunday Free Play. The first coaching casualty of the season took place in Las Vegas as Josh McDaniels was let go in what was a very toxic environment and we will see a different energy this week. The Raiders have lost two straight games, both coming on the road and the organization had finally seen enough after the offense put up just 157 total yards against the Lions this past Monday night. The Raiders are now 3-5 and this is just their fourth home game of the season where they are 2-1 with the loss coming against Pittsburgh in a game they could have won but lost the turnover battle 3-0. The first order of business is a change at quarterback as Jimmy Garoppolo has been benched in favor of rookie Aiden O'Connell who has made one start which was not horrible and also came in against Chicago after Brian Hoyer was benched. He now has had a full week with the first team offense. The Giants have played much better over the last three games after a horrific 1-4 start. They have gone 1-2 over this stretch but both losses could have been wins against the Bills and Jets as both came down to the last play with the latter defeat coming in overtime. This had coincided with quarterback Tyrod Taylor taking over for the injured Daniel Jones but now Taylor is out with an injury and Jones will return with his future on the line. He has his breakout season last year but has regressed considerably as he has posted a 71.7 rating while throwing for only 884 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions. It has not all been his fault as he is working behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league with Andrew Thomas still likely out. Play (470) Las Vegas Raiders

When you talk about heated rivalries in the NFL this is one of the fiercest. The Philadelphia Eagles come it at 7-1 while Dallas is 5-2. These matchups haven't been close recently — the average margin of victory over the last eight meetings is 16.1 points. We didn't get a Dak -Jalen matchup last year as Dallas won the last game 40-34 on Christmas Eve of last year. That was a Dak Prescott/Gardner Minshew battle. In October of 2022, Cooper Rush was defeated by Jalen Hurts, 26-17. The Eagles will need to establish a running game with Swwift and Hurts. D’Andre Swift ranks fourth among running backs and Jalen Hurts is second among quarterbacks in rushing yards. The Eagles' front should be able to generate a push and open holes and they will need to as they do not want to get into long passing downs as the offensive line has allowed the 15th most pressures and 19 sacks which is the ninth most. They will be going against a Dallas defense that has four defensive touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a +6 turnover margin.

The Eagles' defense just doesn't seem, right to me. They are allowing just 65 rush yards per game, that’s the least amount in the NFL. They generate a high amount of sacks and with their stout defensive front, teams are still finding the ability to put points on the board. They rank 19th in points allowed and at home they are allowing an average of 25 points per game which is fifth-most. The Cowboy's offensive line is allowing the third-fewest pressures and has found better success with the ground game when on the road.

Both teams need this one as they both have a tough stretch of five games on the schedule against top teams. This is going to be a close game but I just don't trust Dak to get the job done.

The Las Vegas Raiders have new life with the firing of Josh McDaniels. The problem is their team just isn't very good, and they are starting a rookie QB in Aidan O'Connell this week. They are on a short week after facing the Lions on Monday Night Football, where they gave up 486 yards and their defense was on the field for 2/3 of the game. The Giants get their starting QB in Daniel Jones back this week to give them a boost. Their defense has been balling out, holding their last three opponents to an average of 11.3 points per game. They clearly have the better defense and have played the tougher schedule to this point. They are up against a Raiders offense that averages 15.8 points per game and 268 yards per game. The Giants should be favored in this contest. Give me the Giants.

Free of Josh McDaniels and his moronic decisions, the Raiders have a new atmosphere. I'm looking for a rejuvenated Raiders squad to beat the Giants, who have even a worse offense and are making a cross-country journey for their first West Coast time zone game since Week 3. A big effort should be forthcoming from Las Vegas after a much-needed house-cleaning swept away McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

Antonio Pierce, a former Giant, is Las Vegas' interim coach.

The Giants get back Daniel Jones, who has missed the last three games with a neck injury. Jones hadn't been playing well, though, and he has maybe the NFL's worst offensive line in front of him. The Giants are averaging a puny 9.1 points on the season if you discount their 31-point Week 2 game against the hapless Cardinals. Jones won't have the Giants' top receiving target either with tight end Darren Waller out. The Giants' offensive line figures to have major problems handling Maxx Crosby.

The Raiders made another significant and right decision - bench NFL interception leader and Statue of Liberty impersonator Jimmy Garoppolo. Rookie Aidan O'Connell, who looked so good during preseason, replaces Garoppolo. O'Connell's main task will be simple, get the damn ball to Davonte Adams. The Giants' defensive line took a hit when Leonard Williams was shipped to the Seahawks.
