Tuesday's List of 13: Our first NFL List of 13........

This list isn't a ranking, just a few teams that made impression on me, for whatever reason, good or bad, in Week 1.

13) Rams-- At this point, they might not be favored against the Alouettes in Montreal; it was just one game, but the 38-3 loss in Philly, after the 3-13 disaster last year, has natives restless.

12) Raiders-- The Silver and Black might not be favored over Alouettes in Oakland. Thank the Lord someone played worse than the Rams this week. This might be the worst franchise in all of professional sports.

11) Vikings-- Angled to trade for Favre, telling Jackson they didn't have much faith in him. Childress is now 0-5 against the Packers, and McKinnie is out for three more games.

10) Jets-- They're in same position this Sunday as Vikes were in Lambeau last night; a must-win to hurdle a nemesis that has a new QB. They have to beat New England this week.

9) Bills-- I read today that Bobby April is best special teams coach in NFL; why did my Rams fire him? Shtoooopid. Young QB Edwards is really impressive; he was on bad college team.

8) Falcons-- Ran ball for over 300+ yards, averaged over 10 yds per pass attempt. Perfect debut for rookie coach/QB combo. A trip to Tampa this week should be more challenging.

7) Bengals-- Ocho Cinco's team had ocho nueve passing yards in Baltimore (89). Terrible performance, losing to a rookie QB in his first NFL start. Have Kerry Collins' Titans visiting in Wk 2.

6) Jaguars-- Lost despite a +18 edge in starting field position, which doesn't happen much. Lost two linemen injured Sunday, had another shot during week. Very rough start to the season.

5) Saints-- Most fun team in NFL to watch. Shockey played a big role in win vs Bucs. Could have more disruption with the hurricane Ike heading towards mainland.

4) Giants-- Squashed the Redskins, still getting no respect for their Super Bowl title. Figure to waltz in and out of St Louis for an easy win this week. Have double digit road winning streak.

3) Panthers-- You can take the QB rating system and stuff it; watch Jake Delhomme in the 2:00 drill Sunday-- thats what the QB position is all about. What a gutty performance and a great ending to a terrific game.

2) Cowboys-- Lot of offensive weapons; had feeling they could do whatever they liked against the Browns. Now they have to make sure Tony Romo isn't Mr September-- he still hasn't won a playoff game, for all his notoriety.

1) Bears-- Someone explain to me why Kyle Orton was behind Rex Grossman; it was inferred Sunday night that he partied too much; didn't anyone in Chicago ever hear of Kenny Stabler?

Six-pack for Tuesday

-- Rays are going to make playoffs, but they're going to blow division title and home field in playoffs due to cheaping out at the trading deadline-- they just don't have enough hitting.

-- Red Sox won Lester's last twelve home starts.

-- Arizona's collapse continued- they lost eighth road game in a row. Dodgers had their win streak snapped, but they do not lose any ground, except a half-game to Colorado.

-- There was brief scuffle in Anaheim last night with Pudge Rodriguez and Torii Hunter- Pudge threw wild right hand at Hunter, but like everything else in the Bronx, he missed.

-- You think the coach and GM in Green Bay were happy last night? Beating Minnesota without Favre is a big deal.

-- Raiders are now 16-65 since the 2003 season.

Daily Sports Roundup for Tuesday, September 9

The Rays and Red Sox will continue their series at Fenway Park on Tuesday night, with each of those two teams tossing out stud pitchers. Here's your Daily Sports Roundup …

Event of the day . . .

The Red Sox aren't going to make finishing in first place in the AL East division easy for the upstart Rays, and if Tampa Bay is going to pick up a victory over Boston on Tuesday night they're going to have to find a way to knock around Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Matsuzaka (16-2, 2.88 ERA) is 7-1 with two no-decisions over his past 10 starts, and Boston is a stellar 9-1 in those outings. The righthander, though, is coming off a middling outing against the Orioles in which he gave up three earned runs on four hits over six innings of work (while fanning seven). Matsuzaka last faced Tampa Bay on July 2, allowing one earned run on two hits over five innings in a hard-luck no-decision.

Countering Dice-K on Tuesday will be Rays ace Scott Kazmir (11-6, 2.99 ERA). Kazmir has been on a roll for Tampa, tossing 11 1-3 scoreless innings versus the Yankees and O's over his last two starts. The lefthander is 4-2 with four no-decisions over his past 10 starts, with the Rays going 8-2 in those games. Kazmir was Matsuzaka's opponent on July 2, and he also got a no-decision after surrendering four runs in five innings.

Non-event of the day . . .

Can the Yankees still claim the AL Wild Card this season? The math says yes, but logic says no. That means New York doesn't have much to lose by trotting reliever Alfredo Aceves (0-0, 1.29 ERA) out to the mound against the cruising Angels on Tuesday night.

Also on the schedule . . .

The Twins will be looking to stay in the ***** of the AL Wild Card and AL Central races on Tuesday when they send Nick Blackburn (9-8, 3.71 ERA) to the mound at home to face the Royals. Also on the American League schedule: Cleveland at Baltimore, Oakland at Detroit, Toronto at the White Sox, and Texas at Seattle.

The Dodgers and the D-Backs will continue their battle for the NL West crown on different fronts Tuesday, with Los Angeles at San Diego and Arizona at San Francisco. Rounding out the NL slate: Florida at Philadelphia, Washington at the Mets, Colorado at Atlanta, Cincinnati at Milwaukee, Pittsburgh at Houston, and the Cubs at St. Louis.

Finally, there are six WNBA games on Tuesday in a busy night around the league: Phoenix at Detroit, San Antonio at New York, Indiana at Minnesota, Washington at Chicago, Connecticut at Houston, and Seattle at Sacramento.

News from the wire . . .

Along with Pats QB Tom Brady (knee), other key NFL players who got hurt on the season's opening Sunday include Titans QB Vince Young (knee), Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle (shoulder), Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson (toe), Cowboys RB Marion Barber (ribs), Seahawks RB Maurice Morris (knee), and Seahawks WR Nate Burleson (knee) . . . Southern California retained the top spot in the AP Top 25 poll this week, with Georgia at No. 2, Oklahoma at No. 3, and East Carolina now at No. 14.

Peek at the future . . .

It'll be Andy Sonnanstine (13-7, 4.66 ERA) vs. Josh Beckett (12-9, 4.20 ERA) in the Rays/BoSox game on Wednesday night . . . the 2008 Chase for the Sprint Cup gets underway on Sunday afternoon with the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway; the drivers who qualified for those playoffs are Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth.

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up an NFL Sunday.......

13) Brutal start to season for Chargers, who lost on last play at home to Carolina last week, then got hosed on two big calls in Denver Sunday, then got beat when Shanahan went for broke on two-point play in last 0:30. Bolts started 1-3 last year; they are better than this. Tomlinson is hurt again, too.
Really helps my Denver Broncos Total Wins Over wager though.

12) Lot of wild games Sunday; how fitting is that the Lions had the biggest comeback in their history, rallying to lead after 21-0 deficit, and still lost by 23 points? What a disaster they are.
Really hurt my Detroit Lions Total Wins Over wager though.

11) By the way, how many other NFL teams trailed 21-0 in both their first and second game of season? Not many, I bet.
Thank goodness I am a USC fan since they are probably a better football team.

10) With 11:07 left in second quarter, Packer WR Jennings had 100 yards receiving already. Detroit meets up with an old friend next week, when they visit Mike Martz and the 1-1 49ers.

9) Colts trailed 15-0 in third quarter at Minnesota, but rallied to give Tony Dungy (held passing records at U of Minnesota) an exciting 18-15 win in his homecoming. Indy had 25 yards on 19 carries- they need center Saturday back.

8) Bears led 17-3 at Carolina, but lost 20-17, as gritty Delhomme led another Panther comeback win. Last time Carolina was 2-0, they made it to the Super Bowl.

7) Troy Aikman said Sunday that he thought QB-WR were the two hardest positions for rookie to come in to play right away.

6) Schedule adjustments from the hurricane: Ravens will go to Houston in Week 10, and Baltimore's game with Cincinnati is going to be played in Week 8 instead of Week 10, giving the Bengals their bye two weeks later than originally planned.

5) Cincinnati could use a bye in Week 3; their two-week total in passing yardage: 216 yards, or less than Kurt Warner had on his first nine throws against Miami Sunday.

4) Thats right, the two-time MVP, who has Arizona atop NFC West, was 9-9 for 221 yards and two TDs at one point Sunday.

3) The Tyler Thigpen era got off to shaky start Sunday, as the Chiefs lost 23-8 to an Oakland team rumored to be firing coach Kiffin on Monday. When you're 0-2 and already have played three quarterbacks, its not a good sign.

2) Rams allowed 79 points in 0-2 start, but they can't blame the red zone offense; they haven't run a play inside their foes' 20 in two games, and now have to visit 0-2 Seattle next week, where the loser's season is pretty much going to be over.

Did I mention that on same day two-time MVP Kurt Warner, in his first home start of '08, was 19-24/361 passing, Marc Bulger had another dismal day in St Louis? Cutting Warner will rank as one of the dumbest, least classy moves in recent memory.

1) Patriots' average drive started at their 42. Jets had ball eight times; they got it once on their 23, the other seven times on the 20. New England killed them in the field position battle.

The shanked 31-yard field goal by Jay Feely on Jets' first drive was a killer; it deflated the crowd, and prevented Cassel from ever having to play from behind. Very bad loss for the Jets.

Isnt it great to look forward to Monday Night once again?

Lets get started.
I am truly mixed with tonights game. Dont see
Dallas losing this game but after last night, laying more
than a touchdown in a rivalry game is tough.

But these 2 teams have a history of playing some high scoring
games and lets see how that works out again tonight.

Good Luck and have a great night.

---------------------------------------------------------

MONDAY NIGHT

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys [ESPN | 8:30 PM ET]

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES/DALLAS COWBOYS
OVER 46 POINTS (3 UNITS)

Eagles: The Eagles got off to an impressive start this season by smashing the Rams at home, 38-3. They will make a big step up in class this week when they travel to Big D to battle the Super Bowl favorite Cowboys. Philly has had success against America’s Team recently by putting pressure on the quarterback and being physical with their receivers, something the Browns didn’t do a week ago. The last time these two teams met last December, the Eagles won 10-6. Tony Romo had his worst day as a pro, completing just 13-of-36 passes, tossing three interceptions and getting sacked four times. The Eagles have won 12 of the last 16 meeting in this series, including three of the last four.

Eagles are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games.
Eagles are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings at Dallas.

Key Injuries - WR Kevin Curtis (hernia) is OUT.
DE Victor Abiamiri (wrist) is day-to-day.

Cowboys (-7, O/U 46): The Cowboys’ journey to the Super Bowl got off on the right foot as they toyed with the Browns, 28-10, in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score indicated. Tony Romo and Co. rolled up close to 500 yards of total offense and recorded 30 first downs to the Browns’ 11. While Romo dissected the Cleveland secondary like a surgeon, the tandem of Marion Barber and rookie Felix Jones combined for 142 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Dallas will need a similar performance out of its running backs this week to offset the Eagles’ blitzing, aggressive defense. Dallas must also contain Eagles RB Brian Westbrook, who has been a Cowboys killer over the years. The last time Dallas faced Westbrook, he ran for 144 yards and set the tone for Philadelphia’s offense.

Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games.
The UNDER is 5-0 in Dallas' last 5 games overall.

Key Injuries - RB Marion Barber (ribs) is probable.
CB Terence Newman (groin) is day-to-day.
