Temple vs. Kent (NCAAF) - Nov 12, 2008 8:00 PM EST

Play: Point Spread: 1/-108 Kent

Play Title: kent State

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Kent State - AiS shows a 72% probability that KSU will lose this game by 2 points or less and has a 55% probability of winning the game. Supporting this graded play is a strong system that has produced a record of 27-26 making 42 units with the average play being a +251 dog. Play against road favorites versus the money line in conference games off a road cover where the team lost as a dog. This is analogous to playing BJ at the casino and being paid +$2.51 for every winning $1.00 hand played. That will never be reality, but this system is certainly so and is a demonstrative example of why I NEVER play casino games. here is a second system that has gone 22-6 for 79% making 16.9 units since 1992. Play against road teams with a money line of +135 to -155 and is a poor passing team gaining 130-175 PYPG facing an average passing defense allowing 175-230 PYPG after allowing 8 or more passing yards/attempt last game. A complex system, but one certainly worth tracking and playing when qualifying. This is a bit of a reverse situation for my casino analogy. The system is like a casino game that would give you a 79% probability of winning the game and still paying you even money for every win. The point si that the combination of the Ai Simulator and the supporting cast of systems, angles, and game research si what has made my clients a ton of cash for more than 15-years and counting. Join me tonight and every day and you will be glad you did.

Take Kent State.

Central Michigan/Northern Illinois Under 50

You can make a case for either of these teams. On one end, you have a 7-2 team in Central Michigan that has been the traditional powerhouse over the years in this conference. Dan Lefevour has thrown for more than twice the yards as Northern Illinois leading passer and he has thrown for twice as many touchdowns going for 11 td's and just 3 interceptions. Central Michigan comes off 5 straight wins and nearly beat Purdue on the road. Northern Illinois is undefeated at home of course and come off an ugly loss to Ball State on the road and will be fired up at home after such an ugly loss in front of their fans as they lost to this team 10-35 on the road last year. The total has come down from 50 to 49 in this game as it is a conference game and the temperature is expected to be below 40 degrees. Look, I know the numbers state how this game is likely to go over, but I like the under here as I've always believed conference games such as this can typically lead to unders. Although it is not enough for me to make a play, games in Northern Illinois in this rivalry have gone under in the past such as the previous two times. The under is 7-1 for the Huskies when facing a team with a winning record meaning that they show up defensively against the better teams in the league.

Houston Rockets +3.5

Houston got spanked in their last game against the Lakers. Let's face it, they were embarrassed and have had some time to think about it. In fact, this would explain the line going backwards. Battier is listed questionable for this game. Remember, Phoenix struggled against the Hornets at home who is a very similar team to the Rockets. Man, I tell you what, I really want to take the Rockets here and frankly I think the only play here is the Rockets ML or you stay away from this game. But, the Suns have yet to lose back to back covers so far. But, I think the Rockets put forth a spirited effort today and likely win this game outright after the embarrassment at L.A. Bottom line, I think Houston comes back strong after a terrible performance and this is why the line is as low as it is. Rockets likel win this baby outright in my opinion

NBA - 713 Los Angeles Lakers @ 714 New Orleans Hornets

The Lakershow continued yesterday with a win at Dallas, in a game who even though they trailed, they managed to win the game down the stretch and even cover the spread! Today they will face the Hornets in New Orleans, in a duel between the two most powerful teams in the West (in theory at least). I understand this spot may bring an offensive letdown for the Lakers, however this line is at 194 points, I know most part of the public is on the over, but sometimes the public and I think that’s the case on this game.

The Lakers are a team with conditions to score a lot of points in every game, as they have a lot of offensive solutions. They have Kobe, they have Gasol and Bynum on the frontcourt and a very strong bench who scores a lot of points.

We can say the same about the Hornets, with Chris Paul this team is a power club, the question is that we have 194 points in a game between two great offensive teams, which is a low line. On the four games of the series last season, the games ended with 211, 206, 189 and 222 points. And I see this game to have conditions to have at least 200 points.

The Lakers have been defending well on these six games, but they have had an easy schedule, with several days off to rest between games, which isn’t the case of today. This will be a back to back game for the Lakers and yesterday’s game was very intense. I’ve also noticed that the Hornets will try to raise the pace of today’s game.

Point guard Chris Paul said the Hornets have to push the tempo to be effective.

“They have two guys who are huge, Gasol and Bynum. Even though those guys are capable of running, we are going to try to keep them running for 48 minutes. Hopefully they will get tired.”

Come to this, I expect a good game with about 200 points being scored today. Take the over in here.

Northern Illinois -3 1/2 (3 Unit Play)

This game I almost decided to pass on but after looking at a few things as well as the injury reports I think I am on the right side of this one with the Huskies tonight. Northern Illinois is off of a humbling blowout against ranked Ball State last game and can't win the MAC West title but they do need just one win to become bowl eligible and beating a good Central Michigan team would enhance their possible bowl chances. The bottom line in this game comes down to defense in my opinion and Northern Illinois is very good defensively even with their bad game last week. Northern Illinois had went 6-1 ATS to open the season but has since dropped two games in a row but the Huskies are taking on a very beaten up Chippewas squad here tonight. CMU is hoping to have QB Dan LeFavour back for this game and he should play but I question how effective he will be in running the ball with his bad ankle. I think Northern Illinois will want to play a very good game here tonight and while I am sure CMU will be up for this game they do have Ball State at home next week and may be peeking ahead just a bit here.

Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans
Pick: New Orleans -1.5

The New Orleans Hornets will face the unbeaten Lakers tonight in the Bayou. The Lakers needed a big fourth quarter rally to escape the Mavs last night. This will be the third game in four nights for the Lakers, all at different venues and although this is early, that is never easy especially against a top opponent. For the Hornets this is a big measuring stick game. They will bring everything they have because it is a great chance for them to validate they can play with what looks like a Championship caliber team, which the Hornets could be themselves. They fared well vs the Lake Show last year winning twice and covering three of the four games played. I like them here in what should be a statement game and focused, peak performance.

Ai Simulator 7* graded play on Northern Illinois - AiS shows an 86% probability that NI will win this game by 4 or more points. This is a very interesting matchup where it is simply a pass dominated team facing a run dominated team. This is also a huge game as it will impact the MAC dramatically with a CMU loss. Ball State is also at 5-0 in conference play and a CMU loss would enable them to almost walk into the Championship game. This will be a "Black out" game tonight with all students wearing their black tee shirts and it will be extremely supportive for the team. Northern Illinois suffered its worst loss of the season, a 45-14 defeat at the hands of No. 16 Ball State in Muncie on Nov. 5. The Huskies fell behind 21-0 in the first half and never got closer than 21-7 the rest of the game. BSU QB Nate Davis completed 18-of-22 passes for 300 yards, MiQuale Lewis ran for 119 yards on 19 carries and Louis Johnson caught six passes for 165 yards to pace the Cardinals. This type of humiliating loss works tot heir benefit tonight noting they are 10-2 ATS (+7.8 Units) in home games after allowing 37 points or more last game since 1992; 12-3 ATS (+8.7 Units) after 2 or more consecutive losses against the spread since 1992. Supporting this graded play is a strong system that has produced a record of 39-13 ATS for 75% since 1997. Play on any team off a blowout loss by 21 points or more to a conference rival and is a team winning 51% to 60% of their games and playing a winning team. Take Northern Illinois.

BEN BURNS BLUECHIP TOTAL

I'm playing on the Suns and Rockets to finish UNDER the total. Five of the last six meetings between these teams, which were played here at Phoenix, have fallen below the total. I feel that tonight's line, which has already climbed several points from its opener, presents us with an excellent opportunity to cash another under ticket. The Suns are still putting up healthy numbers, averaging 103 points per game. However, that's not quite as many as they were scoring prior to the Shaq trade. (Note that they've scored less than 95 points in two of their last three games against the Rockets.) More importantly, they have been playing somewhat better defense, as only one team (New Orleans got 108) has scored more than 103 points against them. As for the Rockets, they've been having some trouble scoring lately. They managed only 82 points in a blowout loss at LA a couple of nights ago and have only reached triple-digits once all season. While McGrady will surely shoot better tonight, its worth noting that the Rockets star is an awful 1-for-16 in his last two games. As usual, despite the blowout vs. the Lakers, the Rockets' defense still ranks in the top five in the league, in terms of points allowed. Not surprisingly, five of Houston's seven games have produced 200 combined points or less. Off the poor defensive effort at LA, I expect the Rockets to have some extra intensity on the defensive side of the ball tonight and for the final combined score to stay below what I feel is a generous total. *Blue Chip

Take Kent State (POD) +1 over Temple (Wednesday @ 8pm). Sometimes you just feel it in the air. You just feel that something is up and you have this inkling and this itch. Such is the case about this game. Although roughly 58% are riding Temple here and my initial lean is on Temple, there are a few things that changes your mind. For starters, the public is on Temple. Second of all, anything goes on in the MAC. Kent State remember has revenge from last year when they lost 14-24 on the road. Temple comes off an admirable loss to Navy on the road in OT. Temple beat Miami of Ohio on the road and and lost to Central Michigan on the road by just 10. Kent State comes off a tough loss to Bowling Green on the road as they return home. Temple is 116th in the nation in total offense (97th pass, 112 rush). Temple is also 64th in the nation in defense (54 pass, 79 rush). Kent State is 37th in the nation in offense (96th pass and 11th rush) and 95th in the nation in defense (71th in pass and 99 in rush). In short, with revenge, a clear advantage in offense and a defense that although is statistically weaker but will have a crowd behind it, I like Kent State to get it done here at home. Kent State is 7-3 ATS after allowing 40 points in their previous game.

Take New Orleans Hornets +1 over Los Angeles Lakers (Wednesday @ 8pm). Lakers still remain undefeated. They defeated the Mavs in a come back win yesterday and now go east to play the Hornets. The Hornets of course are rested for this game and ready to give the Lakers their first loss. Over 60% back the Lakers here however. I know the Lakers are undefeated but this is a prime spot for the Hornets to do some damage and make a statement here at home where the crowd will be raucous and ready to go. Lakers are also on a back to back here and although they have depth, the Hornets have been sitting at home waiting for this game. Listen, I know it's not easy to pull the trigger on this game. I understand that. But, the bottom line is that the Lakers are on back to backs here and at some point the bubble has to burst. So, why not here? Why should it not burst with a New Orleans team that is just waiting for the Lakers to come in to make a statement? Why should it not burst with a New Orleans team that is deep, well coached and has plenty of revenge from last year with a crowd that will be rowdy for this game? I'll take the home team to get it done here as I will ride Chris Paul to the bank.

Weber State +12.5. Weber State traditionally is a pretty good program and they are dogged by 12 points here. Heck, at one point they had covered 6 straight games from the Sky Conference and although Miami of Ohio is a good team, I don't know if the spread is reflective of the fact how well Weber State is coached. The bottom line is, I will take Weber State here on a neutral site as this is the 2k Hoops Classic in Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, California. Obviously, with Weber State coming out of the Sky, they will have fans far more well traveled than Miami of Ohio of the East Coast and I'd like to think the little known Weber State team that was very competitive for the Sky Conference Championship last year puts up a good fight here and I'll gladly take the double-digit points as I think Weber State likely loses this game by about 6 points. Let's roll.

Portland are still undervalued IMO. They are deep and talented and pose serious
matchup problems for opponents. Oden is expected back tonight which gives
visitors more of a size advantage vs. the Heat--one of their weaknesses. Sure
Miami have Wade but they are relying on two rookies--Charmers & Beasley--for
major contributions every night. Plus will be first game in national spotlight
for newbies. In addition, Miami really no quality wins to speak of. Meanwhile,
Portland have already played the best in the West and are coming off a quality
win at Orlando. Portland have more talent, size & depth and get the win tonight.
