49-46, 49-46, 49-46 is a difference of 9 and would result in a loss for that bet. He would need at least 2 rds on 2 of the judges cards and a rd on the third card to cover this.

Shields' father died like a week before the Ellenberger fight as well, something to factor in. I doubt his head was in the right place for that one.
