At this stage in the game it's unlikely to gain a large percent of strictly new viewers. UFC is a household name now even if MMA isn't, so if you didn't know about it by now chances are you had absolutely no interest in it.I think it's worth pointing out that he was clearly beating Wanderlei before he gassed. So technique-wise, it's not like he's outclassed. He just needs better cardio.
As for people watching only because Cung is on the card, I would agree that most are probably only very occasional viewers, but it could also be someone's introduction to MMA and them say, "Oh, this shit is pretty cool."
As far as Le clearly winning the fight I don't remember it that way. I remember Wanderlei being dropped early in round one and then Silva picked up momentum as the round closed. Things were pretty much even in the second round until Wanderlei exploded and bent Le's beak. That was a close fight at best, and Wanderlei got pretty much dominated by Rich except for that second round where he hurt Franklin.Leave a comment:

I disagree. People who only watch because Cung Le is on the card will likely not watch again unless another asian is on the card next time around. People who would watch anyway, will watch anyway. But I don't think Cung's chances here are even close to 50/50. He's fought one guy at or near Franklin's level and that guy rearranged his face something fierce. Le also has notoriously weak cardio even in three round fights, whereas Franklin loves pushing the pace for as long as the fight goes.Leave a comment:

Just grabbed Silva at -310 and Danzig at -165.
That's a little more than I wanted to pay for Silva, but fuck it, money where my mouth is.Leave a comment:

Could go either way.
It's in China, though, maybe the UFC wants to appeal to the Chinese audience by having an Asian win via traditional martial arts techniques? It would guarantee that more Chinese would watch the show again. You never know...Leave a comment:

I heard Victor Conte on Joe Rogans show saying that He has been working with Cung Le recently.Leave a comment:

No it's not completely ridiculous, but Franklin hasn't made a habit of being put down by guys like Le who don't really go for one shot KO's and whatnot. Franklin has only ever been knocked out by Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, and Vitor Belfort. I just don't put Le in the same category as those guys when it comes to knocking dudes out. Yeah he's won most of the fights he won by some form of TKO, but many of those guys were tailor made for him and nowhere near Franklin's level or overall durability/knowledge on how to survive being rocked. If Le doesn't score the flash KO in the first two rounds his chances drop to almost 0 of landing it in the last three rounds(assuming the fight goes that far). I'm not totally ruling out Franklin's ability to knock Cung out either, I just don't think he'll really go for that until Le is already huffing and puffing.Leave a comment:

I think the only way Le wins is a decision to be honest. A controversial decision at that. Get a takedown here and there and land some flashy kicks throughout rounds 1-3. But Franklin is too good and too smart. Franklin wins...just waiting to see if his line gets better.Leave a comment:

I think that pretty much sums it up right there. Le gets a stoppage or Franklin wins. And the latter is far more likely than the former. BUT the thought of Le getting a stoppage is not completely ridiculous.Leave a comment:

Even in a 3 round fight Le winning 2 rounds against someone who pushes the pace like Franklin can is closer to 50/50 than it is anything else. I personally would still bet Franklin in a 3 round fight, but this being a 5 rounder really seals the deal for Me. I'm going to find a way to bet him(probably Ludo's Locks) because I'm having a real hard time seeing a scenario in which Le wins the fight other than some kind of flash KO situation(Le isn't known for these and Franklin isn't known for getting knocked out a whole lot). I give Franklin much better odds to knock Le out than the opposite, especially if this thing goes into the fourth and or fifth round.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I said earlier in this thread why I don't think Le will be in this fight in the best condition/trained....I like Franklin in this fight. Line is steep though, perhaps a parlay with him and Thiago Silva when the time comes.Leave a comment:

didnt know that is a 5 rounder. Le would have had a much greater chance at winning if its a 3 round fightLeave a comment:
