Davis striking sucks too, tbh lol. i would be more confidence betting on Davis if i know he would take it to the ground rather than trying to beat Vinny on the feet.

I don't think his striking sucks. In fact, I was pretty surprised by how quickly he got to the level of being at least decent on the feet. The only time I remember him getting blown out was by Rashad.

He'll probably get subbed if spends too much time in guard. Vinny really is very good on his back, he could sub anyone in the world.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Davis pulled off an "up and down" game plan, where he gets a takedown, stands over and throws some punches and then backs out again. If he stays down there, Vinny will probably catch him IMO. Maybe later in the fight it would be safer.

Vinny will probaly have the reach advantage. I am going to try to find his fight with michail zhayats. I want to see how his striking looks. I figure a guy with such a good guard game might naturally have decent kicking ability because of his leg dexterity. Kinda like fabricio werdum.

^ I really don't know. Probably because the prince guy that hosts it wants it to carry the prestige. It is in UAB, so I don't think drawing spectators is a priority, otherwise they would move it to the U.S. People show up to the Mundials, though it is still a really small crowd compared to actual spectator sports. Grappling is basically only watched by fanatic grapplers, it really is boring to watch.

He is pretty wild. He just goes super aggresive and hopes to wind up on the ground somehow. He also doesn't like getting hit very much from what I have seen.

To me, it is just kind of a mismatch. Davis is a legit top 10er, maybe even top 5 imo. Vinny has... his guard. He could pull out a submission, but Davis would have to be pretty stupid to get on the ground with him willingly.

His head kick knockout of zayats was pretty impressive. He throws a lot of kicks and his standup didnt look that bad. My thing is this. Phil pretty much has his wrestling and s submissions. Maybe i am wrong but i dont remember him demonstrating much of anything on the feet. Has he ever dropped or rocked anyone? This fight seems winnable for vinny.
