Yeah, like I said, it looks like something that would actually be fun to do. Grueling, but fun.

I've read several times people making statements like: "CrossFit makes girls look hot and guys look like girls." But those dudes in the finals were are all in beastmode.

I would do it if I didn't powerlift.

Would I be able to get my win/loss records from 2013 so far if I contact live help at the books? I have been lazy with my spreadsheet hence the non-updated sig in awhile.

I don't care at all about size and strength, so I would do it if I thought the benefit would outweigh the costs. As it is, I don't see why I can't work out at home just as well, or nearly as well (if I had motivation, which I don't).

I saw the crossfit comp live at the Arnold's a couple years ago, and it was pretty neat. I have also seen the ESPN thing, and I enjoy watching it. I don't know that there is anything magic or especially "functional" (I am pretty sure that "functional" strength is a myth anyway) about it, but nothing wrong with it either.

I imagine so. Does 5D really not have a "history" feature like BM?

It does, you just have to get it 1 month at a time. You can get all your bets under the "graded wagers" tab, but it will only give you a month at a time, the history is there though.

Speaking of sportsbook...I hate them. I will be retired by the time I get this payout from them.

Size I can understand, but strength? Don't you need strength for BJJ? Or to just be a man?

I think it would take something of an investment in equipment, but with the proper motivation you could definitely do it on your own. My understanding is that the social aspect of CrossFit is a big part of it, though.

"Functional strength" is the biggest bullshit term ever in the history of the English language. I've never in my life had any strength that was not "functional" and neither has anyone else.

There's no such thing as strength that ONLY works for bench presses or squats.

Strength helps obviously, but i have "mat strength" that allows me to overpower guys that are much stronger than me. My bjj is not great, but i started wrestling when i was 6 and never stopped... so even though i am actually not that good, just from sheer mat time, i am very hard to muscle around. Manly strength... i have plenty for opening pickle jars and what not.

Im not really a social person, so that is probably why i dont get excited about group exercise. People drain me rather than energize me, and i actually really hate it when people encourage me by saying "cmon! You can do it!" and the like. It makes me want to punch them dead in the face. Yes, i know i can do it, that is why i am doing it, and if i am not doing it, it definitely isnt because no one reminded me that i could, in fact, do it.

Strength is strength. If you want get strong, get strong generally... then practice your sport.

Mat strength > bull strength in BJJ/grappling/wrestling whatever. When I can't move a 180 lbs guy while being 230 lbs and one of the top PLers in the country, I realize how much I suck.

Damn, motherfucker wins like a thousand fights in a row and then loses 2 (non-consecutively) and gets cut. What's that shit about?

I definitely don't regard myself as a particularly social person either, but there are times when it's nice to have other people involved. It can be motivating, in my opinion. When you're doing everything on your own it's a lot easier to just say fuck it.
