    Shane Del Rosario RIP

Dam, feel bad for the kid and his family. Looks like its just a matter of time before He passes....

UFC heavyweight Shane del Rosario suffered cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning and remains in critical condition at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif.

ESPN's Josh Gross, a former Sherdog.com editor, is reporting that del Rosario is on life support and a final decision by the fighter's family is expected Friday a.m. whether or not to continue with machine assistance.

“Shane del Rosario had a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse at home on Tuesday morning,” Jason House, del Rosario’s manager, said in a statement released to Sherdog.com. “He was brought to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated in the emergency room back to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure. He is currently in the coronary care unit critically ill. Our prayers are with him and his family.”

According to Erik Apple, del Rosario was found at home by his roommate, UFC flyweight Ian McCall. McCall called 911 and administered CPR to del Rosario before he was taken to the hospital. Apple says that del Rosario had no prior health issues with his heart.

Apple told Sherdog.com on Wednesday that positive strides were seen, but due to recent reports Thursday evening it seems del Rosario's condition has worsened.

The 30-year-old del Rosario was scheduled to make his third Octagon appearance against Carlos Augusto Filho at UFC 168, but the bout was canceled when both men suffered injuries leading up to their Dec. 28 clash.

After beginning his professional MMA career with 11 straight victories -- including three with Strikeforce -- Del Rosario suffered a herniated disc in an April 2011 car accident. He returned to make his Octagon debut against Stipe Miocic at UFC 146, where he lost via second-round TKO. He was knocked out by Pat Barry in his last outing at “The Ultimate Fighter 16” finale.

Del Rosario hasn't been a top 10 ranked heavyweight in a long while, and even then it was a "well he's on a win streak of sorts so I guess so" ala Brett Rogers.

Think he only gets about 10 to show and 10 for a win bonus. Most fighters only fight twice a year, so if he won both fighters that only 40k a year. I say only because they have to pay manager, training, and other fees out of that money. After taxes and fees they are probably lucky to get half

UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann
Ian McCall: $68,000 ($9,000 to show, $9,000 win bonus - UFC paid it out despite the fight being a draw, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus)

UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall
              Ian McCall: $9,000

              UFC 156
              Ian McCall: $9,000

              UFC 163
Ian McCall: $68,000 ($9,000 to show, $9,000 win bonus, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus)

So between March of last year and August of this year he made $154,000. Not exactly pocket change, but he isn't making a huge amount of money.

I think its sad that all these pathetic journalist were writing RIP pieces when he hadn't even passed yet. What a sad world we live in that people are so eager to be first that they don't even check to see if something as serious as a death is true or not

                    Definitely.

Doctors believe he may suffer from a rare condition called Long QT Syndrome, which is a genetic anomaly that can cause a sudden and life threatening heart rhythm abnormality, and may result in sudden death. Tragically, it strikes healthy young people and often is the first and only presentation of a heart problem.”

So a top level UFC fighter makes the same amount as a produce manager at Wal-Mart IF he is lucky enough to get two bonuses, that he can't budget for. Other than that, if he loses, he is at the poverty level. That pay is a disgrace.

Shane del Rosario has died after suffering full cardiac arrest nearly two weeks ago.

Del Rosario, a professional MMA fighter since 2006, was 30. His friend and roommate, UFC flyweight Ian McCall, as well as teammate Carla Esparza, tweeted the news on Monday night. Sources close to the UFC told MMAjunkie a statement from the promotion is expected soon.

The heavyweight fighter was rushed to a hospital in Newport Beach, Calif., on Nov. 26 and was in critical condition after reportedly being found by McCall. According to multiple sources, del Rosario was on life support for several days. When he was removed from life support, he was able to survive until Sunday night.

News of del Rosario’s heart attack came as a shock to the MMA world when it was announced by his management team, which said the fighter was in critical condition following “full cardiac arrest” two days before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

Del Rosario’s team at Iridium Sports on Nov. 27 tweeted that del Rosario was in the hospital after being resuscitated in the emergency room.

“Official Statement: Shane Del Rosario had a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse at home on Tuesday morning. He was brought to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated in the emergency room back to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure. He is currently in the coronary care unit critically ill. Our prayers are with him and his family.”
Del Rosario training partner Erik Apple later posted to his Instagram account a photo of himself with del Rosario, along with a comment: “yesterday my friend had 2 heart attacks and he is still fighting for his life. I got to see him last night and hold his hand and I know he isn’t giving up so we shouldn’t either.”

Del Rosario’s management team released a statement saying doctors were looking at the potential that the fighter had a rare heart condition known as Long QT Syndrome that typically goes undetected until there’s a problem.

Del Rosario (11-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) started his combat sports career in kickboxing and muay Thai before moving to MMA in 2006. He started his career 11-0 with 10 first-round stoppages. After going 8-0 with wins for M-1 Challenge and EliteXC, del Rosario signed with Strikeforce and stopped Lolohea Mahe and Lavar Johnson in the first round.

He was booked for a fight against Daniel Cormier, but after being in a car accident, a herniated disc kept him out of the fight. He wouldn’t compete again until moving to the UFC, where he was stopped by Stipe Miocic in May 2012 and Pat Barry a year ago.

Del Rosario tried to return over the summer against Dave Herman, but was forced out with a rib injury. And in November, he was forced out of a fight against Guto Inocente (6-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) that had been booked for UFC 168 later this month in Las Vegas.
