Confirmed: Urijah Faber to Face Jose Aldo

Urijah Faber accomplished his goal as he returned home to Sacramento, Calif. after a seven month lay-off. “The California Kid” submitted top contender Raphael Assuncao in the final round in a bout that many thought would determine the next contender for current featherweight champion Jose Aldo’s crown.

At the WEC 46 post-fight press conference, WEC general manager Reed Harris confirmed that Faber would get the next shot at Aldo. A date has not been set.

After Faber’s victory, he stood in the center of the octagon with Aldo as the two discussed a potential match-up.

The champion said, “I respect Urijah but no one will take my belt.”

” We got a great champion right now. Jose Aldo. He’s a phenom. He’s both talented and creative. I’d love to go in there and get that belt.” Faber said

I know Faber is the draw, but seriously, WTF. I think Aldo puts Faber "on coma" as my buddy says.

But............

What happens if Faber gets the win? Brown/Faber 3. Who the fuck wants to see that again? Or does Aldo get the immediate re-match, where Brown gets screwed again for a title shot.

It's clear that the WEC really WANTS Faber to be the champ. He's their poster boy and they want him to have the belt (though they probably prefer Aldo to Brown).

But............

What happens if Faber gets the win? Brown/Faber 3. Who the fuck wants to see that again? Or does Aldo get the immediate re-match, where Brown gets screwed again for a title shot.

I would actually really like to see Faber/Brown 3 because I think Faber wins. I'm basing that primarily on the fact that the second fight was still relatively close despite the fact that Faber fucked up his hand way early on. I can see things turning out very differently with a healthy Faber.
