Too bad Cain or JDS never lost to Mir then decisioned Herring, maybe they'd be the champ now too.
Very true .JDS ,Carwin or Cain would be the champ right now if the got the same path Lesnar got to take

Agreed. I think he beats Carwin though
I'm not sure either way yet . If Carwin destroys Mir or the other way around it could make up my mind. One of the 3 will beat WWE man for sure

Yeah beating Vera doesn't bump you into the top five. But he's easily top ten now by destroying Vera like he did. Vera had NO answers off his back, which until he started thinking his Muay Thai was top notch was supposed to be his best position for a win.

Carwin has less meaningful experience than Brock, a lesser wrestling pedigree, and has fought one guy who could even come close to being considered in the same class as any of Brock's opponents to date(besides the one he had in Japan). He beat Gonzaga and....Who? Brock avenged his only loss to Mir in devastating fashion, beat Herring who is always game(he gave Minotauro a run for his money before getting caught in a sub not long before the Brock fight), and beat Couture who asked for that fight himself. Couture was embroiled in a legal battle and let it rest because he asked for Lesnar by name.

As far as JDS goes, he's a great striker and he's going to have some success, but lets not kid ourselves. Brock Lesnar or Cain Valasquez trying to take you down is way different from Gabriel Gonzaga. Lets hold off yet before we proclaim Cigano has an elite sprawl. Believe me I'm very excited to see where he goes from here, but I'll not pretend like we know ANYTHING about his ground game other than he was able to pop up and shrug off a Gabriel Gonzaga takedown attempt, when Gonzaga thought he could strike.

Overall the card was great for a free one. Tons of exciting finishes. Yeah there were the gay 12 to 6 elbows called while Kongo was dropping elbows on Pauls ass/thigh and the knee to the head was legit. But how was anyone supposed to know Irvin would be a huge pussy, Kongo would still not understand the rules, and Vera would break the rules? My only complaint on the card besides the above would be a way to have seen more of the undercard than just Howard/Roberts.

I think that's a tremendous overstatement to say that Vera had "no answers" for Jones. I thought it was a very even fight on the ground. Jones just happened to land a good shot that I'm not very sure he could ever do again.

Yeah cause holding someone's wrist while your getting tagged alot with the other hand means you have some answers.

Looks like everyone got paid last night. Nice job.

BTW, how the fuck did Cro Cop last so long with JDS? He should get a 1/2 win for that.

I would agree for the most part. I wouldn't be as harsh as saying "no answers" because up until the elbow from hell he was defending okay, but he was clearly getting worked Bones was making him look like a bitch.

We actually ended up on Kongo together. After the fucking fiasco that was the Irvin fight I dropped 5u on Kongo to cover the loss. A hail mary play, I know, but it worked out this time around.

JDS respected him too much. . .

                            What happened with Vera?

Interesting article on Buentello's pinky dislocation and Irvin's future (or lack thereof) at 185:

It was another one of those nights for the officials in the UFC. Referee Josh Rosenthal got it right in the James Irvin fight but Colorado officials and ref Herb Dean made a judgement error in the Paul Buentello-Cheick Kongo fight according to UFC president Dana White.

In the second round, Buentello appeared to injure a finger. The fight was stopped while doctors looked at the hand. Then they appeared to pop the finger back into place.

"If he couldn't continue right there, you can't come in [and call timeout]," said White, who thought Buentello broke the finger. I actually appeared to be a dislocation. Dean paused the fight because he thought there was an equipment malfunction with the glove. He was wrong. If Buentello had a dislocated finger and needed medical care, the fight should've been given to Kongo with a TKO victory.

White also talked about the futures of Duane Ludwig and Irvin. He was unsure on Ludwig, who reportedly suffered a severe ankle break. He was positive with Irvin, that he wouldn't be at middleweight again.

"He looked terrible at the weigh-ins. There was [expletive] coming out of his face. I didn't know if it was skull or scar tissue or what it was."

White said it was reflected in his performance against Alessio Sakara.

"Tonight it looked like the 85 cut killed him. He couldn't get off. He was basically getting lit up by Sakara. That's not James Irvin. That's not who he is as a fighter."
