So of victorious at UFC 118, Penn is open to all challenges. He won't handpick opponents, he won't limit himself to one weight class, and – as has become the normal for many UFC champs – he won't spend extended periods of time on the sidelines.

"When I get past Frankie Edgar, I want to fight everybody," he said. "I'll fight the No. 1 contender all the way to the No. 15 contender. If no one's ready and they need more time to prepare for me, Dana, give me a welterweight fight. I don't care.

"I just want to fight. I can't do this forever. I'm 31 years old. I think I'm in my prime. Let's do it now."

I think/want Penn is going to win, but I think the value is on Edgar, due to the fact that it was a close fight the first time around with Edgar coming out on top. As Edgar said, he didn't catch Penn with anything could be considered a "fluke", but he outworked BJ in the judges eyes and won the decision.

I also had the under on the Couture/ Toney fight. I think there is value in Osipzcak and Lauzon, but im not betting them, at least not yet.

Look at who his losses are to, though.

2x GSP - He won't be fighting anyone else like GSP . . . except for GSP.

1x to a Prime Hughes - He already beat Hughes before. Also, there's a the injury situation surrounding this fight which casts a dubious light on the results.

1x to Machida - Penn was far outside of his natural weight, and plus, it's Machida.

1x to Prime Jens Pulver - It was a close decision that I think could've gone either way. Also, Penn would've finished Jens at the end of the (2nd?) if there had just been a few more seconds left in the round. And finally, that was 8 years ago and Penn has improved dramatically as a fighter since then.

And lastly. . .

1x to Edgar, in a fight that many people felt Penn won. Sherdog had this to say:

Now I'm not going to hate on Edgar's win or say he didn't deserve it. But the first time I watched the fight, I also was shocked when they announced Edgar as the new champ. I scored it for Penn for sure, though after watching it a second time I could see how they gave it to Edgar. And in any case, Edgar has beaten everyone but Maynard, and I think if they fought again he would beat Maynard, too.

I've never lost money on Penn. I had money on him to beat Kenflo and Diego. And I had money Edgar to beat him.

If I bet Penn then he'll win. I'm just trying to make up my mind to go ahead and do it.

Actually, if you think back, we were getting EXCELLENT lines for Penn. I think I got him at -250 against Kenflo and -170 against Diego.

I actually think it's hilarious, because clearly the oddsmakers were like, fuck this, the next Penn fight we're going to make him a HUGE favorite! And then what happens? He loses!

So now we're back to getting decent lines on him. For bettors, him losing to Edgar is probably the best thing that could've happened. If he had won that fight, it would be -600 in EVERY fight from here on out, at least at lightweight.

I actually think it might not be a bad idea for him to lose this one, too, because then we'd get good lines on him for at least the next 3 or 4 fights.
