I see what you're getting at, but Silva already has legit losses. Fedor did not until last night.

Either one is significant. Lesnar's gonna have to defend his belt a couple of times before it's THAT significant for him to lose it, though.

Best case scenario is both guys gasping for air with their hands down in the 3rd round.

This. I honestly hope this happens. But then we would get "Cain would destroy Carwin and Lesnar" everywhere.

            fedor:

“I tried to work out (motivated) to come into the fight in my best shape and the fight today showed that maybe I didn’t work enough,” he said. “I didn’t manage to make all my technique to become automatic. That means I will have to work more.”

I do not support any and all bjj stylists blindly. Almost all MMA fighters are bjj practioners.

On a side note, I am probably more gay for wrestling than bjj. I actually probably prefer college wrestling to MMA and bjj from a spectator's standpoint. I also like judo a lot. I just think bjj guys are far an away the best grapplers, so I spend a lot of time defending bjj. I also prefer bjj from a participation standpoint. But, like most guys who follow mma closely, I have a favorite in every weight class. Only MW (Maia) is what you would probably call a bjj guy.

I dislike Serra's personality. I also dislike Mir, who claims to rep bjj. They are both in my top 5 db in MMA list.

Kinda weird, but I guess it makes sense. If anyone deserves a shot at redemption it's Fedor.

Not only that , but this way you get 2 big HW fights out of it. The rematch will be a big fight, and then the winner of the rematch fights the champion, Overeem. It wouldn't have worked if you have Werdum fight Overeem right away and then he loses. What happens next? Does Fedor get the shot anyways?

                        Tito making more fans.

Fedor finally fought somebody on a great level, and it just showed the mistakes that Fedor makes on the ground. Werdum is somebody that I actually know, and I did an interview in Dallas for ESPN Radio and I called it. I knew he was going to beat him. I just felt that once Fedor fought someone with great talent, he would finally get his loss. You can’t believe the hype, as they say.

Has he ever been tested? Maybe once or twice? You can’t say you’re the best in the world if you haven’t competed against everybody in the world, and he hasn’t. And I think by him not coming to the UFC put a big (stain) on his record. You can have a company back you and say you’re the best guy in the world, but until you compete against the best guys in the world, you’re not that guy. There’s a lot more things going on behind the scenes, and it’s not just Fedor making those decisions. Fedor is fighting for his country. But it is what it is, and it just proves that he’s not invincible and that he’s not one of the top heavyweights in the world. I think he’s a decent fighter overall, but I was very proud of Werdum, though. That’s what comes with hard work.

I didn’t think he’d submit him that quickly, but once Fedor gets on top of you, he gets kind of messy and (throws) looping punches, and a lot of triangles and arm locks come into position. Werdum’s a big guy and he’s got some great triangles. When I rolled with him, he got me in a triangle, too. He’s a big guy who moves well and his jiu-jitsu game just shows how good he really is. He’s a former Abu Dhabi submission champ.

(Fedor’s wins over “Cro Cop” and Nogueira) were a long time ago. That was when he was in his prime, I guess you can say. He hasn’t fought anybody on the UFC’s level, and the best guys are in the UFC. Werdum was in the UFC. They let him go, and he signed with Strikeforce and I think it’s kind of bad, you know, because Werdum is still a young guy who’s coming up and still getting better and better by the month

Yeah, his wins surely don't stack up to Tito's murderer's row of Yuki Kondo, Elvis Sinosic, and Evan Tanner.

Uh-oh, looks like M1 is in trouble:

WASHINGTON — Ten people have been arrested for allegedly serving as secret agents of the Russian government with the goal of penetrating U.S. government policymaking circles.

The Justice Department announced the arrests Monday.

According to court papers in the case, the U.S. government intercepted a message from Russian intelligence headquarters in Moscow to two of the defendants. The message states that their main mission is "to search and develop ties in policymaking circles in US" and send intelligence reports.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ten people have been arrested for allegedly serving as secret agents of the Russian government in the United States, the Justice Department said Monday.

Eight of 10 were arrested Sunday for allegedly carrying out long-term, deep cover assignments in the United States on behalf of Russia.

Two others were arrested for allegedly participating in the same Russian intelligence program within the United States.

Their job, according to the court papers in the case, was "to compete in mixed martial arts" in the United States.

Each of the 10 was charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison on conviction.

The cases were filed in U.S. District Court for the southern district of New York.

Federal law prohibits individuals from acting as agents of foreign governments within the United States without notifying the U.S. attorney general.

Nine of the defendants were charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, which carries a maximum 20 years in prison on conviction.

FBI agents arrested the defendants known as Fedor Emilianenko and Vadim Finklestein at their residence in Montclair, N.J., and they were appearing Monday in federal court in Manhattan.

Three other defendants also were being taken to federal court in Manhattan — Vicky Pelaez and a defendant known as "Jerry Millen," who were arrested at their residence in Yonkers, N.Y., and Anna Chapman, who was arrested in Manhattan on Sunday.

Two other defendants known as Michael Zottoli and Patricia Mills were arrested at their residence in Arlington, Va., and were appearing in federal court in Alexandria, Va., on Monday.

Also being taken to federal court in Alexandria was Mikhail Semenko, who was arrested Sunday at his residence in Arlington.

Two defendants known as Donald Howard Heathfield and Tracey Lee Ann Foley were arrested at their residence in Boston on Sunday and were appearing in federal court in Boston on Monday.

The Justice Department said that a defendant known as Christopher R. Metsos was not in custody.

The arrests were the result of a multiyear FBI investigation into an alleged network of U.S.-based agents who concealed all connections between themselves and Russia.

The U.S. government intercepted a message from Russian intelligence headquarters in Moscow to two of the defendants, Richard and Cynthia Murphy.

"You were sent to USA for long-term service trip," the message from Moscow. "Your education, bank accounts, car, house etc. — all these serve one goal: fulfill your main mission, i.e. to search and develop ties in policymaking circles in US and sent intels," the message added.
