I'll put it this way. When you think about it, you didn't really make the choice to be straight. You just are. You may think to yourself, "Yeah, well I woke up today and made the choice to like women." But it's not like you had any desire to like guys, so that's really not much of a choice.

For gay guys, they're in the same situation, but the situation's reversed.

I don't think it can even be argued that someone makes the decision to be gay. Clearly they don't. Who would choose a life time of getting your ass kicked in high school and the constant disdain of nearly everyone around you. I personally think that somewhere along the lines, psychologically or sociologically, the gayness happens as a response to something.

That said, we deny our nature all the time. I deny my nature every day by not killing people that piss me off. I deny my nature by just taking by force every woman I see. I can totally understand the people that think gays should just abstain and jerk off forever. If they think it is wrong, I can understand that totally. Just because you do not have control over the way you feel about something, doesn't necessarily mean it is natural or good or even ok.

As for whether someone can be de-gayed, the jury is still out for me. You hear about people who claimed to have been de-gayed all the time. But then again, you hear people say a lot of shit.

See, I have known a lot gay guys, but I have never been even remotely surprised. Every single time, I am like "oh, yeah well that makes sense." I haven't always known they were gay, but I have never been surprised.

I am not a homophobe though... I don't care if a person is gay or not. I will admit that I do write off the possibility of real friendship though.

The only even semi-legitimate argument I could say for saying being gay is "wrong" would be if you were a legitimate believer in a religion that forbade it. That doesn't mean the belief is right, because the religion is almost certainly bullshit. But I could see how one would arrive at that conclusion, because that's how I was raised.

If not religion, there's really no argument. Gay people aren't hurting anyone. We disallow murder, rape, armed robbery, and assault because they disrupt society and affect others negatively. But two dudes (or girls) being gay only negatively affects prejudiced people who get all fussy and emotional about it, for whatever reason.

As for abstaining, that's basically like saying that gay people just shouldn't have love in their lives. Our relationships with our significant others are central parts of our lives. Imagine if instead you had to live in loneliness without that sort of connection. When people say gays should live in celibacy, that's basically what they're asking them to do.

            De-gayed!

With that said, I figured people may change over time in this regard, just as people change over time in other ways. When you're younger you like one thing, when you get older you like something else. I think that people who say they were de-gayed by religious couselors or some shit like that are lying to themselves and everyone else, and probably just want it to be true so they can live their lives in peace with their families and society.

              Word.

I've often wondered how many gay MMA fighters are out there. I know there's Shad Smith. But I wonder how many are in the closet.

There are some gay guys who you really would never guess.

I remember watching a documentary recently. Can't remember the name. Called "The Butch Factor" or some shit like that. And it was basically about gay guys who are straight up masculine guys who don't fit the stereotype, and how they don't really find a home in either the straight or gay world.

                It was interesting.

One of my best friends is a 60-year-old gay dude with AIDS. No shit.

He's an odd character. Older obviously. Has no desire for women. Killed a lot of people in Vietnam. Likes MMA. Loves to go to the casino and blow tons of money playing the slots.

But he's been one of the most loyal friends I've ever had and has helped me out of some serious jams without expecting anything but friendship in return.

                  Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)

                  Just some personal anecdotes:

The four women in the only two lesbian couples I know are all really nice people and actually quite attractive.

The only gay dude I know who was way out there and flaming like all the stereotypes is currently serving hard time (~10 years) for downloading kiddie-porn. He was a friendly and popular guy, too. I guarantee you he had no shortage of adult dick.

The only married guy I knew who regularly made a lot of public comments about how he'd like to bang that chick or screw that waitress was an ex-Navy SEAL and a classmate of mine who eventually must have taken our "WTF dude, you're married!" replies to heart, because he addressed the problem directly by stabbing his wife to death in a parking lot. He also hung himself in his jail cell after he was caught a couple days later. He should have toughed it out - probably would have got less time than the kiddie-porn guy.

Anyway, whatever one's personal views on homosexuality, you should try to be civil to the people around you. I think most people who are really anti-gay would be surprised at how easy it is to decide it just doesn't matter what kind of person someone else wants to sleep with. In the social circles I hang out in, the whole topic is completely noncontroversial; no one minds if anyone else is gay.

Svino, just wanted you to know that this post did not go unnoticed. I've slowly, methodically, and amusingly making my way through "True Porn Clerk Stories."

Shit is both amusing and interesting as hell.

Eminem's "Relapse" is awesome. "Recovery?" Not so much.

I cant get into him anymore. Infinate and the slim shady LP were fuckin epic, after that, I started to lose interest in him.

Actually I was the same way.

When Relapse came out I was like 'meh', I thought I had outgrown him. Then Recovery hit and and I decided to give it a real chance and bam, I was blown away like I was in high school again. Then I went back to Relapse and realized it was pretty badass as well. Songs like 'Stay Wide Awake' are as good as anything he's ever done. And Recovery is great as it has no skits, no gimmicks, no dumb accents or other bullshit. Just fire. I think Relapse and Recovery are lyrically the best albums he's put out.

I will admit that I've only listened to half of it so far . . . but after half of an album I'm a little underwhelmed.

Recovery seems to be all about ballads. Everything so far has kind of sounded the same and it's all this epic, kind of slow, melodic stuff. And while that can be okay for a song or two, I don't want to listen to a whole album of it.

It's like listening to a Skid Row album where every song sounds like 18 and Life.
