I know that it's actually the "bullies" that contact the show and the victims are generally the bully's friends playing a role, but Mayhem's attitude in that particular show was so much more harsh than it was in the others, that it actually made me wonder if that bully was genuine.

King of the Cage Canada 48 results – Joe Riggs & Dan Severn highlight winner’s circle

Two UFC mainstays were in action up north at King of the Cage Canada 48 in Edmonton, Alberta. Hall of Famer Dan Severn (95-16-7) picked up a win over the inexperienced Tom Benesocky (1-3). Severn, a former Arizona State wrestler, took down Benesocky early in the opening round. After some pitter pat punches to the body, Severn secured a arm triangle submission on Benesocky for the victory.

The official time came at 1:33 of round one. Severn has now won seven straight bouts dating back to May 2009. The submission win was the 57th of Severn's 16 year MMA career.


Former UFC welterweight title contender Joe Riggs (34-11) shared the main event spotlight with local Trent Thorne (6-4). Riggs slammed Thorne to the mat after a brief stand-up exchange to begin the fight. On the ground Riggs sliced through Thorne's guard with ease. From the crucifix position Thorne was out of options as Riggs unleashed a hail storm of elbows before the referee called it off at the 3:56 mark of round one.

The win was the first for Riggs since an August 2010 win at Strikeforce Challengers 10.
