In the grown folks zY judging system, worthless takedowns only count if they're better than what the other guy was doing. Gettin a takedown and jumping right back up because the other guy is throwing up submissions like it's his job doesn't count for much. Add in all that asskicking on the feet Miller was doing and the first 2 rounds were easily Miller. Both guys were gassed in the 3rd and not a whole lot happened.
I thought Miller landed to heavy strikes, once in the first round and once in the second. But in the rest of the trading, I thought Tibau probably got the better of it by a small margin, and he also controlled the center of the cage.
As for the takedowns, if nothing else, Gleison showed that that's an area of MMA that he is clearly better at. He went for takedowns and got them; Miller went for takedowns and failed completely. So the "effective grappling" was all on Tibau's side of the table.
I dunno. I didn't see Tibau winning the striking at all.
As far as the 'effective grappling', sure Tibau was getting takedowns. But Miller was immediately and effectively throwing up sub attempts that neutralized those takedowns. Therefore I'd actually favor Miller on the grappling, and if nothing else it's got to be a stalemate. Worthless takedowns should only count if nothing else is happening.
I'm glad my system is catching on.
