I dunno. I think Goldie is a cool dude, but the more I hear his commentating the more it pisses me off. He does nothing but shill for the UFC.

you would think after all this time of Goldberg commentating for UFC events that he'd have learned SOMETHING about MMA by now. If it doesn't have to do with a particular fighters background he doesn't seem to know anything.

Yeah exactly. He's supposed to be the play-by-play guy who calls the action, and then Rogan is the color guy to go in-depth about what is, could be, or should be going on. Instead you get Rogan trying to do both jobs while Goldberg either reads promos or tosses out catchphrases. I swear they don't even need Mike Goldberg anymore, they could just set up a soundboard of his phrases and have someone click them when appropriate.

In fact, if I knew a bit more about Flash and wasn't so goddamn lazy, I'd make a soundboard.

Ya'll are being unnecessarily harsh. It's not like the guy's clueless. He knows what an armbar is. And a triangle. And a kimura. And a jab/cross/uppercut combo with a roundhouse. Add in double and single leg takedowns, and some "judo throws," and that's the vast majority of MMA right there.

It's probably unfair to expect him to know the intricacies of high level BJJ or some shit like that.

                  He's called . . . Joe Rogan.

And besides, fuck getting rid of Goldie. They make an awesome team. And he's been around forever, so what about loyalty? You really want him to have to find another fucking job?

I love Goldie. The UFC experience wouldn't be the same--in a good way--without him.

                    Re: Strikeforce PHOENIX CHALLENGERS

My point is knowing "what" an armbar, triangle, single leg, double leg, jab/right cross combo isn't exactly the entire extent I would think he'd have learned after doing commentary for the last SIX fucking years. In reality he brings nothing to the technical aspect of things. I'm not expecting him to infringe on Rogans grappling breakdown thing because Rogan actually does a good job with that already. Why doesn't he take an interest in researching striking styles and trying to inject a little knowledge there to compliment the grappling knowledge Joe has? Joe Rogan is no expert, but he knows enough to at least allow the casual viewer to know what they are actually seeing, as well as possible transitions/submissions that are possible and what's possible depending on who's positioned where.

It just seems like he remains relatively clueless to this very day, which is kind of sad since he's part of the commentary "team" for the largest MMA organization in the world. As far as just knowing what the above mentioned things are that really isn't enough to justify his position doing commentary for 3+ hours a night every UFC event. The average casual faggot wearing a Tapout shirt and a sideways cocked UFC hat at the sports bar knows what those things are and probably even a little something more. This dude has had the best seat in the house for over half a decade for almost every single event the UFC has put on in that time and yet he still knows jack shit.

I think Goldie is kind of a buffoon. Yeah, he's a tradition for the UFC at this point, but I'd rather they got someone in there who knows something. How about a guy who really knows striking? Must be some good boxing guys out there that could be brought up to speed on MMA.
