+3.3u on the event. Magic parlays ftw? Who's with me? No one, ok.
Brief thoughts:
Nam got hosed. Garcia sucks.
Hendricks: not looking forward to eating shit from zY for the next 6 months. I really thought he had the ability to turn his wrestling on when he needed it. He just hasn't needed it. And when he tried to go to it, it wasn't there. His wrestling just isn't that good in MMA. I also overrated his hands.
Maia: I am pretty sure he is on TRT
I wanted the SF event too. It was way better tonight.

Garcia just stands there and chucks hooks Dukes of Hazzard style, and Dana laps it up. Nam karate'd his ass and got screwed. There is no universe where Garcia won Round 1 or 2. I scored it 30-27.
I scored rd 3 for Hendricks, but rd 1 and 2 for Story. I am not off the bandwagon, I still support... but he fought like shit and he needs to work on his wrestling in MMA if he plans on dethroning GSP.
Maia, I am serious. As soon as I saw him, I was like "he's huge, wtf." Then Rogan noticed it too... I also think it caused him to gas out a little bit and mail it in on the 3rd, costing Havis his bet points bet.
^ agreed, Story is rough, and I set my line for the fight at -170 for Hendricks. I am just disappointed in Johny's wrestling. I thought if he decided to wrestle, he would be more dominant. I thought all the up and down stuff in the other fights was just because he wasn't worried about being controlled so he was walking forward with punches and getting taken down. I still think it is going to be next to impossible to hold him down, but I thoughyt he would have better takedowns if he went to that gameplan. He tried to go to the wrestling tonight, and it wasn't there.
Oh yea here are the bonuses. Not only does Garcia get a gift decision, he gets $30k on top of that. Needs to pull that horseshoe out of his ass before he can zzzz tonight
Fighters were awarded $30,000 bonuses.
Fight of the Night: Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan
Knockout of the Night: Pablo Garza
Submission of the Night: Cody McKenzie
Honestly I thought the judges were over the Garcia bullshit after the Hominick fight, but as it stands now I will never bet any fight he is in ever again.

That's how I scored it, but it was close. I was really worried they were gonna give round . . . 2, I think it was? . . . to Hendricks because he got that takedown right in the last 30 seconds of the round.
I was quite happy with the result, in any case. It turned what would've just been a decent night into a good one.

I remember first noticing that he looked bigger and more muscular in, I think, the Dan Miller fight. Or somewhere around there. I think Rogan even mentioned at the time that Maia had said he was going to focus on building some size and strength. Whether that means steroids, I don't know. But I do think it's silly to immediately jump to that conclusion just because someone has built a little muscle. You can do a lot with protein, creatine, and a gym membership.
