I think if it was anyone besides Antonio they would have. But he was persistent in the fact that he was fine and WANTED to continue. Most fighters would have just not communicated with the ref, or submit by body language or something.
lol I havent been this happy to win 1.2 units in a while. I was really sweating those last 2 rounds . Who else was?
That 10th and 11th rounds were so intense. When Manny was looking at the ref to stop it, and then when Cole called timeout, close one of Margarito's eyes with his hand and made him say how many fingers he had up, wow. Once it hit the 12th and I could see Pac easing up I knew we were golden.
A lot of the talk is how the fight should have been stopped by his corner. I'm glad it wasn't!

Honestly I saw no reason to stop the fight. His eye was closing but he could clearly still see out of it because he told them how many fingers they were holding up twice without any hesitation, was still coming forward just like he had all fight, and was still firing off punches and at times even hitting Manny as well as not becoming wobbly at all. I think it would have been a detriment to the Mexican fighting spirit to have stopped it while he could still somewhat defend himself.

OK, Paul Williams-Sergio Martinez II is this Saturday. First fight was epic. I actually thought Martinez edged him out the first fight. But Williams was given the decision.
My first thoughts are that Martinez style is harder to deal with(slick counter puncher), while Paul's style might be easier for Sergio to deal with a second time. Fight should go the distance, even though both guys went down the first fight, and Williams seemed rocked on a few other occasions.
I guess you could make a case for either guy by decision, since both those bets will be @ +money. Any thoughts?

I think I scored the first fight a draw but couldnt argue with the decision going either way. I think I'm taking Williams this weekend. I want to watch Pavlik-Martinez, Williams-Cintron and the first fight again before making a decision.
Watching previous fights is another reason I like boxing more than the UFC. You have to search the 4 corners of the earth sometimes to find a UFC fight, to watch a boxing fight you got to youtube type in the fight and there it is .
Couple of things. The Martinez KD by Williams in the first seemed to be a bit of an off balance KD. Sergio's KD was 100% legit.
I just watched The first fight and Martinez-Pavlik last night. Martinez really put on a show against Pavlik. I really think that Martinez might have the edge in this rematch. But what worries me is that in ALL of Sergio's fight he takes his foot off the gas in rounds(by choice or not), and that will always cost him rounds with someone like Williams. I just really think that Sergio might be just the right fighter to beat Williams, but it is damn close.
Sergio is the champ, so this time he may be given the close rounds, or Paul's active style may win him rounds. Real tough fight to cap. Many people also think that a counterpuncher will always fair better in a rematch because they have already seen their opponent once and now can counter even easier the second fight.
i think i will also watch Williams-Citron again, but from what I remember it was close when it was stopped. But it had the look that Williams was coming on and was going to start laying a beating on Kermit.
Arum also said if Mayweather not available, Manny fights Marquez or Mosley in May & then Bradley-Alexander winner in the fall
..
So in other words he fights Marquez or Mosley next. I honestly do not believe Floyd wants to fight him. I doubt he fights Marquez unless Marquez smokes Katsidis.
Floyd might be serving time next eyar and avoiding Pac that way. Clark County is tired of his and his families antics, and the recent incident revolved around hima ssaulting a private security guard recently.
As for the both of you (sbjj and Luke) 'capping this fight, I look forward to hearing your insights as well as throwing my $.02 in. Thinking of heading down to watch this fight live, but either way will certainly have a play wagered on an even $ fight (-115 apiece currently) even if I just watch it on TV.
