Mike Tyson. The name alone conjures up so much thought and emotion. HBO did a movie on his life. Recently a big documentary was released about him. He's fucking Mike Tyson. The biggest name since Ali. I just don't feel that Mayweather or Pac command the same sort of attention.
Of course I could be wrong.
The only people saying boxing is dying are MMA fans and they never watched boxing to begin with ,except maybe once a year. If anything you could say MMA is dying they havent had a 1 million PPV sale all year.....but some would say that's silly talk which I would agree with . I really do not understand why people say boxing is dying ,when I ask someone why the only answer I get is "no one cares about it anymore."
The whole situation is weird to me.
Today you have boxing or MMA. It seems that the older crowd are still choosing boxing as the #1 combat sport. Younger people are choosing MMA, at least in the United States and Canada. If the trend continues, where does that put boxing in 50 years? I mean, you mentioned boxing PPV buys. Who is buying PPVs? That's largely older, non-Internet-savvy fans.Leave a comment:

To be fair, it doesn't seem to be the same since Tyson went to prison. I know Mayweather and Pac are huge, but not Tyson huge.Leave a comment:

If I win in college football today I'll probably throw a unit on Mayweather by decisionLeave a comment:
