I'm excited, but nervous. I have almost all available funds on the line tonight.

Thanks. I sure as hell hope so. Everyone's got me nervous about Cane. On Junkie Radio they did a breakdown show and 3 of the 4 picked Marshall for the upset.

But Mike Hammersmith is on my side. He thinks Cane will win a clear cut decision. I knew I could count on him.

Yeah Cane is the only one I think that may lose. He is coming off of back to back KOs and hasn't fought since UFC 114.

edit: I actually think Miller might beat Marquardt but I doubt it

I think the big question with Cane is, "How much of his recent losses was specifically due to having problems with southpaws and how much was him being just plain overrated?"

I think this fight is much more likely to go to a decision than the odds are indicating, although there's a chance that Marshall will feel like he needs to "be exciting" to stay in the UFC and get himself KO'd early.

Cane obviously has a suspect chin, but if past performances are any indicator, Marshall won't have anything close to what it takes to knock him out.

That leaves Marshall's only out being to win a decision, and I just go back to Cane's fight with Cantwell. If he can do that to Cantwell, then he should be able to do it to Marshall.

I don't know how fair that is. Nogueira is known to be a good boxer, and Diabate is a professional kickboxer. Anyone could lose a stand-up fight to those guys.

Cantwell is a grappler that strikes with strikers. Marshall isn't full retard like Cantwell.

That's not true at all. Cantwell has always had good stand-up and I've always thought of him as more of a kickboxer than a grappler. Remember he KOd Brian Stann.

Yeah, but if you compare Nog's striking success against Brilz and Bader compared to how he looked against Cane, you might conclude that Cane's standup was vastly inferior to that of the two wrestlers.

Round 1 - Assuncao opens with a body kick with Koch stuff. He then lands a low kick. Koch goes high with a kick, but it's checked. Both fighters are testing their range. Assuncao attempts a low-kick/punch combo, but Koch snuffs it out. The fighters trade low kicks before Assuncao gets through a nice short right. Assuncao with a low kick, but Koch is working the jab. Neither guys will sit in the pocket too long. Koch snaps off some low kicks and Assuncao answers. Koch then lands the fight's best body kick and then instantly drops the Brazilian with a quick right hand. Assuncao is knocked out cold by the show, and the ref jumps on Koch before the follow punches come. Erik Koch def. Raphael Assuncao via KO (punch) - Round 1, 2:32
