I actually think it's huge. Granted, it's lost some of its luster after Kid got beat by Warren and Kanehara, but it's still a hell of a thing.

I hope he dedicates himself to his training and kicks a hell of a lot of ass.

These guys generally come over here on the downside of their careers... and Gomi and Akiyama are really the only big name Japanese guy that has come to the UFC in recent years (that I recall). I wouldn't say either has flopped. Really only Akiyama is in his prime. There have been others, like Mishima and Nakamura, but they weren't very good in Japan either. I bet Ishida, Kawajiri, Aoki, Omigawa- guys that are still in their primes- would do pretty well.

I had never heard of Okami before he came to the UFC. He only fought in Pride once, way back in 2002. Miz wasn't really a big name either.

Kid is going to do fine. IMO, Warren/Friere would beat a lot of the WEC guys

Just read that Omigawa will be fighting Mendes at UFC 126. Should be a good test, Mendes will probably win though. Something about Mendes just annoys me.
