I prefer to put my own shit together. That way I can control exactly what goes into it and sometimes save some money in the process. Also, custom built machines are a hell of a lot easier to upgrade than proprietary shit from HP or Dell.

Building a computer is retardedly easy. Just need a screwdriver and a bit of research. My computer I built is going on 6 years old and still runs pretty fast. Clean reformats ftw.

Yeah, that was going to be the next thing I replaced, but I figured fuck it, I have a little money so might as well go for the total upgrade.

When it's done I'll have gone from an Athlon X2 dual-core 3 GHz w/ 2 GB of RAM to a Phenom X4 quad-core 3.2 GHz w/ 4 GB of RAM.

The mobo has an integrated Radeon HD 4250 GPU. I'm not a big gamer, so it's enough for me. And integrated graphics systems have gotten a lot better over the years.

I don't plan on it. It's become a game recently to see how frugal I can be. And honestly, it's still very quick for normal tasks. Obviously when I do something CPU intensive like rendering or encoding it shows it's age pretty bad, but I don't do much of that. I've had to change shit out on it over the years. Video cards going bad, psu going out, etc. I'll probably wait until something blows up again to overhaul it. Then again, I need some more HD space and my case is a piece of shit and won't hold any more, so who knows.
