It is interesting you mention that. I like to do my own breakdowns for the most part, but I have started looking a little more at analyst opinions. I started thinking about it when we were talking stocks a few weeks ago. A very viable stock strategy is to just look at the gurus and find stocks that are being picked by multiple gurus based on various criteria. I still like to look at the fundamentals of the comany myself too, but I rely a lot on stock analysts. So I decided to do that a little more here too. It is actually the main reason I went with Alcantara. Literally no one gave him a chance... I looked at both guys and decided that it was warranted. There has to be at least something to collective wisdom.2012: +19.33

This is so much better without Rogan. They need to hire Kenny full time.2012: +19.33

Yeah, as long as you can accurately identify gurus who can beat the market consistently, that pretty much has to work.
I very rarely do what I did with my E. Silva bet, that is: make a fairly ignorant bet on a big favorite. I'm much more likely to make such a bet on an underdog that a lot of people think will win.Comment

Yeah, the difficult part is that the guy that beat the market yesterday may not do it again tomorrow. Also, most of these guys don't just tell you what they are going to buy before they buy it (they tell you after, and the price changed when they buy). So you have to create your own screens (or use someone else's) based on quantative information to try to mimic thier criteria.2012: +19.33
