    Hello there

Hi I'm new to the board and new to MMA betting in general (aside from that time I was in Vegas and was caught up in gambling fever and stupidly put money on McLovin' against Daley!). Found out about the site through MMAScientist's blog, I used to train a lot in MMA before I finished school and started working. However, as soon as I finish my time overseas I will probably start training again when I go back to my home in Canada. I believe that while a lot of guys train in MMA are too dumb to really understand it I think it's given me an advantage in breaking down fights. Looking at things from the perspective of a fighter I think has its benefits when you're not in that fighter's shoes, since the fighter himself will believe any lie that will keep his dream of being a champion alive. I can look at more nuanced aspects of a fighter's game to look for advantages that perhaps the sportsbook people don't have. Of course, I have no proven track record in picking fights because I generally don't do it, but I look forward to breaking down all fight footage I can find in the hopes of making some cash. I haven't been following MMA like I used to (I have been watching since 2003 or so) but the idea of making bank gives me incentive to watch more fights.

I watch a lot of sports but MMA is the only one that I feel comfortable enough with to put money on, so I will probably not post in any of the other forums hence why I posted this intro here. Maybe later if I develop a gambling problem but I doubt it.

    Cheers.

Is it weird that every time somebody new comes here I have a suspicion it is sideloaded?

Welcome mmabuddha. If you want to take a dry run even though you don't have a book, post your plays anyway with monopoly money. we have had a lot fo conversations about whether training actually helps in handicapping, I think it does, but only if you already have the necessary skills. You can be good without training, and you can suck despite your training. Sometimes I think it clouds me, I tend to project my own limited abilities onto fighters... and occasionally might slightly overestimate some bjj guys and underestimate guys without a proper grappling lineage. And I say occasionally, in the way the poopoo occasionally has sex with men (all the time).

Poopoo, no that is not weird, but this one is not him, we have been shooting PM's on SD. We talked way back before sideloaded existed.

Anyway, GL and you will probably become a degenerate now.

Cool thanks, and I see what you mean about projecting your own abilities on a fighter. I'm sure you're familiar, but one example is thinking that Melvin Guillard was going to smarten up and learn how to grapple against an offensive minded fighter. I'm also still waiting for Cro Cop to learn how to not be scared when he faces a fighter that gets in his face. I'd like to think I've gotten over that, but we'll find out when I place my bets.

I have no idea who sideloaded is, but I'm probably not him.

I do it in both the positive and the negative. Sometimes I will think how hard it is to take someone down who doesn't want to engage in a grappling match, and think... no one can get him down. But what I really mean is that I couldn't get him down. And sometimes I think that a fighter ought to have figured something out by now (like for Pat Barry, I think, well he has been in the UFC 3 years now, he should be at least a purple belt on the ground, but then he still sucks).

sideloaded is our resident troll (former resident). He reincarnates every couple months with a new identity, after he stops being mad about being banned.
