Also, we have to remember that Bendo was clearly loosing the fight agains't varner, before getting that guillotine at the end of the third one. I don't think that he will be able to get a sub on edgar.
I see edgar outpointing him and winning a decision. Edgar should be closer to -200 IMOComment

Bendo has always seemed to do more damage with his punches, in my opinion.
Other than knocking out Maynard, Edgar has never seemed to do much damage with his strikes. But Bendo has some knockouts of his own (like Roller) and a lot of the guys he's fought looked like they had just been in a war when he was done with them (like Bocek).I heart cockComment

I was just reading everyones response to Bendo doing everything better than Frankie. I'm not sure what to think, my gut tells me Bendo wins. There are many shortcummings we can point out in Bendos past however the same can be done with Frankie. I just read fightmetric for Pettis/Bendo. Bendo attempted 13 takedowns and landed 3. Not very good. Good point. However Frankie also got outwrestled by Gray Maynard in 2008. I am not sure who is the better wrestler. I am not sure who the better striker is, but I guess I will probably lean towards Frankie. The reason I lean towards Bendo in the fight is basically this. Frankie typically wins by using his amazing footwork to run around his opponents and outstrike them, typically with low to medium power shots(barring a few big punches). I see him having trouble doing that with Bendo. Bendo is fast, a good wrestler and a good grappler. Bendo might gas, but what will happen to Frankie if he has to wrestle the bigger stronger man? Also, Frankie has been dropped by punches more than once. Bendo could hurt him standing. It is a tough call though..1 unit = 300 $Comment

I'm willing to overlook the Bendo / Pettis fight, just because the results of that fight seem so out of line with the expected performance of both fighters. Similarly, based on his last two fights against Maynard, I think we have to acknowledge that Edgar's MMA wrestling, or at least his TDD, has improved hugely from that first match where Maynard took him down like 9 times.
I also think that as a very strong wrestler with excellent submission defense, Bendo was a bad matchup for Miller and Bocek -- two of the wins that are supporting his current high valuation.
On the other hand, Edgar's last four fights are the toughest competition of anyone in MMA today, probably by a significant margin. (Though admittedly one was a draw, and one he could have lost on the cards).Comment

You guys seems to forget that Bendo lost to Anthony Pettis, who has been beaten bad by Guida, and was losing to shane roller before pulling a suprise sub at the end of the 3rd round. I am not doind mmath over here, I am just saying that he lost to Pettis, and IMO, pettis is not an as good fighter as people think.

I don't think Edgar can do what Varner was doing to Bendo. Frankie isn't as much of an imposing wrestler as Varner is. Also that fight with Varner was two years ago. Two years ago Frankie Edgar was only getting his title shot because Maynard looked like a rolled up dog turd against Nate Diaz. Point blank we have never seen anyone brutalize Jim Miller like Bendo did. Aside from the occasional submission attempt(which probably would have ended anyone else) Henderson dominated that fight from bell to bell, standing and on the ground.2013: +8.24u(increased unit size on 5/19)

He lost what was a purely back and forth fight, which was virtually won in the closing minute of the fight by that cagewalk kick. Lets not go overboard and act like he dropped that fight 49-46 or anything. That shit was dead even going into round 5 and he arguably won round five if that kick never happened.Comment

Is that really fair? The guy is 25 years old and was only beaten by Guida in recent memory. Guida also was in the title eliminator against Bendo and gave him a hell of a fight, much closer than anyone else since he crossed to the UFC. Obviously Edgar would be favored by more against Pettis but thats because Pettis isn't a relentless wrestler on Edgar's level in grappling.2013: +8.24u(increased unit size on 5/19)
