Is that really fair? The guy is 25 years old and was only beaten by Guida in recent memory. Guida also was in the title eliminator against Bendo and gave him a hell of a fight, much closer than anyone else since he crossed to the UFC. Obviously Edgar would be favored by more against Pettis but thats because Pettis isn't a relentless wrestler on Edgar's level in grappling.Comment

In the second round Pettis reversed a takedown and spent almost two minutes in Shane's guard working body shots and posturing up from time to time. When Roller DID finally get the takedown he went right into full mount for all of eight to ten seconds before Pettis bucked him off and then ended up on top once again. No way did Roller win the second round.
I'm going to have to disagree with you here about him getting beat by Roller for three rounds because thats just now how it was going down. Roller's corner told him between rounds 2 and 3 that he needed to finish the fight because he was down on the scorecards.
He stuffs ten takedowns, ends up on top three times(twice from failed takedowns), and outstruck Roller 2 to 1 in the first round, and then 3 to 1 in the second round for significant strikes.Last edited by Ludo; 02-08-2012, 11:30 PM.2013: +8.24u(increased unit size on 5/19)

You've said that more than once now, but I remember a lot of people thinking Pettis had a pretty good shot to win that one.I heart cockComment

I think Edgar knows he cant afford to clinch with Bendo and he has the footwork to avoid being pushed into the fence. I think Maynard is faster on the feet than Bendo and he had trouble taking Edgar down or keep him down. I also think Maynard has faster hands than Bendo, maybe not as good cardio. I think if Edgar comes in healthy with his usual game plan, he will win a decision. So it will be Edgar by dec for me.Comment

He easily took the first round of that fight. Ends up on top of two failed takedown attempts by Roller, albeit he stood up immediately, rocked Roller hard with that outside to inside crescent kick(at least thats what it looked like), and finished the round strong.
