    #2
    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Thistledown - Race #3
#1 Solo Surprise She has been slowly heading in the right direction, and she should find a decent spot up near the splits in this small group. Dangerous.
#2 Honduras Passion She has had a lot of chances, but some of that Oaklawn claiming form might stack up well enough to help her land a piece here.
#3 Vespera She came up short at 70 cents on the dollar in her local debut, but something similar keeps her in the frame again here at another likely short kind of price.
Race Summary Solo Surprise has some appeal in a spot where a couple of Oaklawn invaders and Vespera might command a bit of cash -- think she can trip out from the fence today.
    Thistledown - Race #7
#6 Sushi Q Not going to argue much about the talent of the one drawn widest in here, but I think this one can get a perfect first-over kind of trip. Owns a couple races that are at least in the mix.
#8 Silver Kiss Probably foolish to go against her -- she's a perfect 4-for-4 in her career by a total of more than 34 lengths combined, and she has never been longer than 1/2 on the board. The obvious one to beat with a ton of Ohio-bred talent.
#5 Je Suis Rapide She'd need her very best to play today, but I think the two-back run was decent enough to keep her in the picture. Underneath player.
Race Summary Sushi Q might be the right one to use to try to beat a formidable favorite who has never been tested. That one races fresh today and will be a short price yet again.
    Thistledown - Race #8
#10 Konteekee He'll go here off the claim with a couple of back efforts that seem competitive with this crew, and I want someone who can finish a bit in a good-sized field with several who are likely to be quitting again late.
#6 Drury Lane He rolled a group to graduate last time out, and that kind of run would make him a player right back on the rise. Worried he'll be overbet here.
#2 Cool Couple He hasn't done a whole lot wrong through three starts, but he still has just the one win and has been odds-on in all three tries. Maybe a touch better price today.
Race Summary Konteekee may be able to settle and rally in this spot, as there should be just enough early action to keep things honest.

      #3
      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Parx - Race #1
#1 ZONING ORDER (5-1) Wide on turn, unwound too late at 6F, suited for today’s distance.
#3 ROCK ME GENTLY (5-2) Speed, steady improvement, but seven seconds in 12 starts.
#6 SHE TAKES CASH (4-1) Rallied past the co-faves to win going away at Gulfstream Park.
Race Summary ZONING ORDER ran second from on and off the pace the last two times she tested 7F in her predominant once-a-month schedule. She draws inside and should factor again in her fifth start at Parx after a useful 6F sprint out of town. Bet to win and place and play 1-3 and 1-6 exactas.
      Parx - Race #4
#6 BEYOND A MILLION (4-1) Consistency could pay off for hot barn, adds blinkers off the claim.
#1 HAPPY UNION (9-2) Chased winning fave for a half mile and tired in well-bet seasonal debut.
#4 BUNNY BONUS (5-2) Ran a late scare into dueling, 4-to-5 winner going a route of ground.
Race Summary BEYOND A MILLION is the most consistent runner in a field that is a combined 34/0-3-6 since the November 13 eligibility date. She enters a top claim barn in the midst of a 12-for-30 overall run the last 30 days. Bet to win and place and play a 1-4-6 exacta box.
      Parx - Race #5
#1 PARDSY (5-1) Been knocking on the winning door but unable to knock it down in the stretch.
#2 LORD WINSALOT (4-1) Knows how to win, projects ideal trip, won only time he ran 5-1/2F.
#4 SIX WHIPS (5-1) Chased 4-to-5 fave, gets break in conditions, can turn tables with faster pace flow.
Race Summary PARDSY vied for the lead into the stretch but settled for minor awards in 3 of his last 4 starts, the latest on the class hike off the claim. He changes riders again and remains a front-end threat on the cutback to 5-1/2F from the rail. Bet to win and place and play a 1-2-4 exacta box.

FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 118 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS.
            RECOMMENDED CHOICES
            # 1 DELIGHTED 8/1
            # 6 DANCING RAQUEL 3/1
            # 2 FLIGHTNING BOLT 2/1
DELIGHTED looks to be the bet in here especially at 8/1. Will likely be one of the leaders of the group going into the midpoint of the race. Must be given a chance given the class of races run recently. With a formidable 53 average Equibase Speed Fig at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. DANCING RAQUEL - This filly could improve with second time Lasix. Has very strong early pace and should fare quite well versus this field. FLIGHTNING BOLT - This filly looks good in this race since Martinez has a very solid win percent with horses going this distance. Could provide positive gains based on respectable recent Equibase Speed Figures with an average of 53.

              Mountaineer Park - Race #2 - Post: 7:25pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $9,100 Class Rating: 75

              Rating:

              #4 AGENDA (ML=5/1)
              #6 DEVRA WARRIOR (ML=7/2)

AGENDA - The jockey/handler tandem of Barrios and Demczyk has a strong ROI together. Multiple wins in this horse's life, all at Mountaineer Park. Could add another win right here in this race. DEVRA WARRIOR - I'm counting on this horse to run a big one in today's event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 VINTAGE SPARKLE (ML=5/2), #3 KAIYAS SONG (ML=3/1), #5 DEL REY DOLLY (ML=9/2),

VINTAGE SPARKLE - The morning-line choice is vulnerable here with the lack of workouts. When scrutinizing today's Equibase class figure, she will have to register a much better speed figure than last time out to vie in this dirt route. KAIYAS SONG - Doesn't really look inspiring to me after the lack of any type of closing talent on Mar 30th. Finished fourth in her most recent performance with a run-of-the-mill speed figure. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field. DEL REY DOLLY - This entrant hasn't been coming close at the wire of late. Most unsatisfactory speed figure in the last race at Parx Racing at 5 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this vulnerable equine will improve too much today.

                RECOMMENDED CHOICES

                # 5 MARKET KING 2/1
                # 1 STARSHIP CHEWBACCA 8/1
IT'S A FLUKE looks to be a solid contender. Recorded a very good speed figure last time out. MARKET KING - A nice ROI of +19 with this rider and trainer combo. Has been running admirably lately and will most likely be on the front end early on. STARSHIP CHEWBACCA - Has garnered sound Speed Figures in dirt sprint races in the past. Tourangeau has one of the most competitive winning percentages in this group of horses with entries running at this distance and surface.

                  Will Rogers Downs - Race #4 - Post: 2:41pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 88

                  Rating:

                  #1 IN THE ARCH (ML=5/2)

IN THE ARCH - Rode this entrant on April 21st and Cunningham is back again in the irons today. You have to like that latest race speed rating, 72, which is the best recent race speed fig of this field.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 COLT FICTION (ML=3/1), #5 WHIP (ML=4/1), #4 KICK IT AGAIN BOB (ML=5/1),

COLT FICTION - In the last race this mount finished sixth. Doesn't look promising for his chances this time around. Very long layoff, then came back and finished sixth. Tough to expect much better this time. WHIP - Doubtful that the speed rating he recorded on April 21st will hold up in this event. KICK IT AGAIN BOB - The speed figures are going downward. I'm not wagering on this racer off of that trend.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #1 IN THE ARCH on the nose if you can get odds of 1/1 or more
