COMMENTS: LONG NECK PAULA has plenty of early gas and footing does not appear to matter. INDY BAY builds momentum through the race and should fire from the middle out. BEAUTY REIGNS has one of her best published works between races. MILA CANDY could be boom or bust in her third career race.

Wild card 8-1 5 Arzak I Ortiz Jr.
    Alternate 1 8-1 3 Our Shot L Saez
    Alternate 2 12-1 10 Coppola U Rispoli
COMMENTS: THINK BIG is undefeated in four races at the distance. AG BULLET takes on the boys but grades out at the top TOTAL PACE horse in out Smart Sheets. ALOGON is a highly consistent performer that finished in the money in thirteen of sixteen turf starts. ARZAK could try to press forward for a change here based on his most recent workouts.
    Race #13
    Turf 1 3/16 Miles
Best Commentary $1M MANHATTAN STAKES GRADE I
    $1,000,000.00

    Race 12 Stakes
Win 5-2 6 Spirit of St Louis M Franco
    Place 3-1 9 Far Bridge J Rosario
    Show 9-2 5 Deterministic K Carmouche
Wild card 12-1 4 Carsons Run D Davis
    Alternate 1 6-1 3 Highway Robber C A Torres
    Alternate 2 9-2 2 Integration F Prat
COMMENTS: SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS is highly consistent with his output and has some headroom in the third start after a layoff. FAR BRIDGE showed better early pace though the first half mile in his last and does his best when involved early as he should be today. DETERMINISTIC should push for the lead in a race without a lot of early speed. CARSONS RUN will try to make his move late and won his only race at the distance which was at Saratoga.

Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis

        June 9, 2025 | By Al Cimaglia

        XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card. The $1.00 Pick 5 starts in Race 5, and it has a $2,945 carryover with a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

        Race 7 (8:45 PM EDT)

2-Street Hawk N (5/2)-Scott Blackler’s New Zealand invader keeps winning and moving up. This will be a test but could get an easy lead and this isn’t a deep group of Invites. Went gate to wire from post 8 last time and will be looking for the same trip tonight.
7-Huntinthelastdolar (2-1)-Classy 5-year-old got on the engine from post 4 and beat this kind last week. Jason Bartlett will probably have to grind it out tonight. If anyone is going to catch the leader down the lane it’s probably the son of Huntsville.

        Race 8 (9:05 PM EDT)

4-Blue Lou (8/5)-Steps up after downing the last group with a gate to wire score and was bet down to 4/5. Shouldn’t blush at the competition and Bartlett will be aggressive off the gate again. Can get the top and take another picture at a small price.

        Race 9 (9:25 PM EDT)

1-Tobins Chester (5/2)-Raced well in all 3 starts for the Daguet barn since arriving from Mohawk. Last time, had to work to get on the point and then didn’t look back. This will be a bigger test but don’t sell the 4-year-old short leaving from the rail.
3-Sling Shock (4-1)-Finished 2nd to Vici a well-meant winner in last. It probably didn’t cost him the win but was locked in on the rail and didn’t get out until the winner was gone. Needs a well-timed move to take a picture, and this could be the night because a pocket ride behind Tobins Chester looks like a good possibility.

        Race 10 (9:45 PM EDT)

2-Twin B Powerball (5-1)-Like the rest of the field, wins have been difficult to come by. But this is the spot to take a picture, at this level with an inside post draw. Pat Lachance could work a cozy trip and roll by down the lane.
4-Hungry Angel Boy (7/5)-Lightly raced 5-year-old has issues and is only 1-12 this year but has hit the board 6 times. Showed some life in last versus this kind, gets a positive driver change in Jason Bartlett and will look for better tonight.
8-Brutallyhandsome A (9/2)-Beat cheaper handily in a nice 153.2 score. The odds-on winner will be a better price with this post draw and this is a suspect bunch. Comes off a win and has beaten better than this at YR not long ago. Using and will trust Jordan Stratton to do a good job.

        $2 Late Pick 4

        2,7/4/1,3/2,4,8
        Total Bet=$24

          Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #2
#3 Shoot the Waves Think this one has a chance in here while turning back on the drop, as the claiming try two starts back was pretty solid, and I wonder if he can translate that kind of effort to a sprint trip while going second off the break.
#1 El Chispazo He has been in the frame with some better groups than he's going to find here, and he might cruise today while facing this easier group.
#4 Secret Fortune Debuter is worth a look ahead of this on the tote and track, as it doesn't feel like he's meeting at on of depth and might be able to share out of the box.
Race Summary Shoot the Waves looks competitive in here while bringing some reasonable upside on the class drop with that comeback run under his belt.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
#4 City Tripper He's got fairly honest local form and might find a decent spying spot while coming back fresh today. One of the ones in a fun race.
#1 Oskar Martinez Think he's the right one on recent form, but his only local try wasn't anything to write home about, and the price may not be all that appealing based on the solid recent lines.
#2 Carcone Honest finisher made a good first impression over the local footing, and I wouldn't argue too hard with anyone wheeling back here after that useful effort.
Race Summary City Tripper runs fresh today in a spot where there isn't a ton of pace, so his ability to adapt to the speed should work in his favor -- he can sit closer early if needed.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#5 Risen Savior Interesting price look here today as he runs second off the break after making a mild move in the comeback spot. Looking for someone who can finish today in a spot with a fair amount of quitting form.
#4 Collator Think he's another with a claim on this one from a bit off the pace, as he brings a couple of back efforts at Turfway that are encouraging ahead of this debut on the local synthetic.
#9 Steeler Mischief He looks like the best of the forward players, as he might be able to relax just the tiniest bit from his high draw and let a couple players further inside do the dirtiest early work. First-over run? Still...I'm not sure if the race flow flatters him.
Race Summary Risen Savior is worth a little swing here at an OK price after the mild comeback run. He goes second off the break in a race with a good bit of speed, and that might set things up for him to grind away late at a price.

            Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

            Parx - Race #1
#6 THIRSTY PAPPY (5-1) Gets class relief, can control the pace, good value play.
#1 MAKABIM (9-2) ‘Bold move’ produced first win in a year, moves outside in.
#4 UNION LIGHTS (5-2) Finished in money in three straight for $7,500 before latest.
Race Summary THIRSTY PAPPY raced close up for a half mile at 7F two starts back before the winning favorite and others passed by. He ducked out at the start in a follow-up route dominated by the two favorites. He drops below his claim level and can control the pace a long way in here. Bet to win and place and play 1-4, 1-5, 6-4 and 6-5 daily doubles.
            Parx - Race #2
#4 LADY SRIRACHA (5-1) Right set-up, right price on her return to town, use in all gimmicks.
#5 TALIESIN (4-1) In peak form for new barn, demolished long sprinters at this level.
#3 WHATTA WORLD (3-1) Set pace, held for minor awards against pair of next-out repeaters recently.
Race Summary LADY SRIRACHA will have to upstage her improved recent speed figures, but she could do for a sharp barn with plenty of pace to rally into. She was slowed by ‘bobbled’ and ‘bumped’ starts in 2 of her last 3 starts. Bet to win and place and play 4,5/3,4,5 exactas.
            Parx - Race #6
#4 RERALLY (3-1) Remains hot at claim box, fits well on best but latest start not among them.
#8 YOUBETTERBEJOKING (9-2) Starts fresh, drops, romped the last time he ran for $7,500 at Parx.
#7 UNCLE IRISH (5-2) Seeks third long distance win in a row for Team Ness.
Race Summary RERALLY is trying to regroup off a sub-par effort going a route of ground on the class drop to this level. He won 4 of his previous 9 starts – one through disqualification -- in photo finishes. He sheds 8 pounds today for a high-percentage claim barn. Bet to win and place and play a 4-7-8 exacta box.

BRILLIANT CALL is my choice. Look for a much stronger effort with the drop. He has strong class ratings, averaging 79, and has to be considered in this race. Difficult to pass on this gelding with Nieves in the irons. METRONOME - Could best this group based on the speed rating - 63 - of his last contest. Should expect a reliable outing with the class drop. IBENDLIEDTO - Has very good early lick and ought to fare very well versus this field.

                    Presque Isle Downs - Race #3 - Post: 4:24pm - SO - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 93

                    Rating:

                    #2 SHIVAREE (ML=5/2)
                    #3 THE DOORMAN (ML=2/1)
                    #5 STARSHIP EMPIRE (ML=3/1)

SHIVAREE - Gelding looks like the lone speed here. He may turn the race into a procession. Martinez and Arriagada perform well when they combine forces. It's hard to beat a +45 return on investment for a jockey and trainer. This horse brings in a lot of dough per race. Tops in this race. THE DOORMAN - Jock jumped on this gelding's back for the first ride on May 20th. Should 'know' the horse even better in today's contest. Last raced at Presque Isle Downs in a race with a class number of 98. Dropping considerably in class figure today puts him in a solid position in this race. This gelding's last speed figure is good enough to triumph here, I'll bet on him right back this time out. Have to give this gelding a shot. Ran a nice outing last race out within the last thirty days. STARSHIP EMPIRE - This gelding is almost always in the top three. When Davis gives Montanez a leg up on any horse, you know that with their win percentage you have at worst a fighting chance. Racing over a familiar track, where he has won multiple times before, I have to put this one at the top of my list of top contenders.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 BRUMBA WAFFLE TOES (ML=4/1), #4 SMILE BRYAN (ML=6/1),

BRUMBA WAFFLE TOES - When looking at today's class rating, he will have to record a better speed figure than last time around the track to be competitive in this dirt route. This less than sharp equine hasn't been coming close at the finish line of late. SMILE BRYAN - Difficult to wager on any thoroughbred to turn things around if there is no reward to taking the chance. This pony ran a quite unimpressive rating last time out. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely suffer defeat in today's race running that fig.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #2 SHIVAREE to win if you can get at least 3/1 odds

                      Parx Racing - Race #5 - Post: 2:28pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $32,000 Class Rating: 62

                      Rating:

                      #1 CHAMPAGNE MISCHIEF (ML=7/2)
                      #4 UP N RUNNIN (ML=3/1)
                      #2 SHADY NIGHTS (ML=9/2)

CHAMPAGNE MISCHIEF - The most dangerous animal in racing is the lone speed horse. If they let her get away early they probably won't catch her. The May 20th affair at Parx Racing was at a class level of (69). Dropping down in the class scale considerably, so she should be in a good spot to take this race. I believe this horse isn't a natural sprinter. Routing is her best game and those last two sprints should have her set for a big run today. Demasi brings her back again. I advise you stay with this hot filly. UP N RUNNIN - This is a fairly classic handicapping angle. Play a pony that finished 2nd in a maiden race last time out but finished well in front of the show horse. Taking a trip to a lower class level; has the ability to make her presence felt. I like the case that this filly's last speed rating, 65, is tops in this bunch. Look at this pattern of improvement. 35/62/65 are the last 3 Equibase speed figures. SHADY NIGHTS - The return on investment when Adorno and Pino partner up is terrific. Ran a winning race May 7th, but just couldn't conquer the victor.

                      Vulnerable Contenders: #6 GRUENE HALL (ML=4/1), #5 JOYFUL JOYCE (ML=5/1), #3 PATIENT FI (ML=5/1),

JOYFUL JOYCE - Will probably be far back with much too much to do down the homestretch. PATIENT FI - Had to show me much more last out. Never made much of an impact. The fig last time around the track doesn't fit very well in this affair when I look at the class figure of today's event. Mark this animal as a vulnerable contender.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #1 CHAMPAGNE MISCHIEF to win if we can get at least 7/2 odds

                        # 8 INSPEIGHTOFTRAINER 8/1
I think MISSION KEY is a quite good choice. With a solid 78 average Equibase speed fig at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. I like the jockey on this gelding - very good chance to win the contest. With a nice class fig average of 92, has one of the best class advantages in this field. ARREBATO - Well above average win clip at this distance/surface. Should compete well in the early pace battle which bodes well with this group of horses. INSPEIGHTOFTRAINER - This gelding must be considered just off the earnings per start in dirt route events alone.
