This just seems like a snoozer of a series and they didn't disappoint in that distinction with their paltry 2 runs total between them yesterday. Jacob deGrom is confirmed to start for the Rangers. While his season stats are 5-2, sources indicate his last outing was a dominant one, giving up just one earned run in six innings. DeGrom, when healthy, is arguably the most dominant pitcher in baseball. His velocity, pinpoint control, and ability to generate swings-and-misses are unmatched. The Rangers' offense on the other hand has significantly underperformed expectations in 2025. They rank: 28th in runs scored (212 runs, 3.4 runs per game). 28th in batting average (.223). T-14th in home runs (64). Their recent form is alarming; they have lost 3 of their last 4 games, scoring only 1, 4, and 3 runs in those losses. They were shut out 2-0 by the Nationals yesterday. These two offenses stumbled yesterday in their series opener and we expect the same kind of struggles to take place again here today, but we definitely give a strong edge to the San Diego offense as we expect this recently red hot Brewers squad to go on a bit of a cooler. Stephen Kolek has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres this season, boasting an impressive 3-1 record and a 3.47 ERA. Crucially, he averages 6.0 innings per start and has a solid 1.239 WHIP, indicating he's pitching efficiently and limiting baserunners. His 6.7 K/9 suggests he can get strikeouts when needed. He's been consistent in giving the Padres quality starts and putting them in a position to win.
