Al Cimaglia: Running Aces Late Pick 4 Analysis

      June 17, 2025 | By Al Cimaglia

      XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Running Aces has a 9-race card, and the 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $3,000 guaranteed pool, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

      Race 6 (8:50 PM CDT)

3-Over The Horizon (3-1)-Gets needed class relief and with this post draw Luke Plano should be racing at the top of the stack. This is the 3rd start at Aces. Needs a trip but this looks like a good spot for a picture.
6-Whereicomefrom (7/2)-Had a rough trip in last and should claim a close-up seat when the wings fold. Chances for success go up if things go well around the opening turn.

      Race 7 (9:12 PM CDT)

5-Mac's Marvel (8/5)-Mac came off cover and rolled by against this kind. Plano should get a trip from this post and doesn't have to be leading early in the mile to cash the top check. Has done good work at Aces (33-10-5-8) and knows how to string wins together.

      Race 8 (9:34 PM CDT)

4-Reagan Blue Chip (3-1)-Arrived to face tough customers in two starts since shipping in from CalX. Could be over bet but does fit much better with this crew.
6-Jeremys Alibi (6-1)-Posted a win at this level and then drew the 10-hole in the 2nd start in town. The 5-year-old could find a live cover flow and Nick Roland can work a smooth trip.

      Race 9 (9:56 PM CDT)

1-Sneaky Hill (4-1)-Should provide a solid price and has been on the engine in both starts at Aces. It didn't work well last time and did post a victory the time before. Does step up and could be better in the 3rd start since arriving from CalX, plus moves in from post 6.
4-Gandalf (8-1)-Team Roland trainee put in a no-move mile leaving from post 7 last week. Now drops, gets post relief as well and could be sitting on a big try.
5-Semicolon (3-1)-Landed in the pocket off the gate and finished 2nd behind a well-meant winner that went gate to wire from post 8. This is another who could be set on "go" making its 3rd start in town and should be forwardly placed.

      $1 Late Pick 4

      3,6/5/4,6/1,4,5
      Total Bet=$12

        Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #6
#4 Bella Alessia Her only synthetic try wasn't much, but she seems to be hinting at something a bit better in those last couple races and could spring an upset here.
#3 Palace Lights Honest player proved a good fit with this kind last out in the local debut, and I assume she's most likely to land another underneath share here. Not impossible.
#6 Kiss Me Again Would want to take a look at the debuter drawn just outside of her, too, but the synthetic form here is pretty tough, though she keeps finding a horse or two a bit too good late in recent starts.
Race Summary Bella Alessia has some midrange price appeal in a race without a whole lot of depth on paper, as she's got a bit of upside while trying the local footing for the first time.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
#2 Adios Buccaneer Let's see how he stacks up out of those claiming races Tampa, but I think the price may be just playable enough to give him a look for a perfect trip right up top.
#7 Tempus This guy tends to outrun his odds over the local footing and has been a pretty reliable force with similar groups here in the past. Lots to like, but the worry is -- as always -- that he'll be along too late.
#9 Peace Cloud The better stuff on the page here would probably make him competitive with this bunch, but I'm just not that enthusiastic about him overall. In the mix.
Race Summary Adios Buccaneer has some tactical pace that should put him in the frame early with these, and he aced his first local test last out to earn the rise.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#3 R Penelope Her bit of pace is dangerous in a soft bunch, and I wouldn't be shocked to see her stay a bit better after that first route try last time around.
#10 High Track She can be tough with these if she brings something similar to that last one, but she's getting short on excuses and could be in for naother wide spy today.
#6 Issa Vybe She loomed a bit before flattening out, but I could see her bringing something a bit better in this third start off the break. Wouldn't argue too hard with anyone landing here.
Race Summary R Penelope doesn't have a lot of late punch, but she might be able to shake some of these off early enough to stay the course today.

          Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

          Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1
#1 J J’S RANGER (6-1) &n New surroundings, hoping to draw upon success as a 3-year-old last year.
#2 PRINCE OF PENNIES (5-2) &nd Good speed, gets 12 pounds off as he tries to win at 6F for first time.
#5 ON PALM SUNDAY (4-1) &ndash Plays to a steady beat but is unproven on conventional dirt.
Race Summary J J’S RANGER arrives from Oaklawn Park, trying to recapture his top form on the class drop and barn switch. He’s the only six-figure earner and two-time winner at 6F in the field and he offers enough value for a win and place bet. Also play 1-2 and 1-5 exactas.
          Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #3
#2 CYAWOULDNTWANABEYA (7-2) &n Two good efforts in Kentucky, breezed in :47-2/5 since then.
#5 ELECTRIFYING LADY (4-1) &nd Second to fave in debut, troubled start costly as odds-on fave in latest.
#1 HEART OF STONE (15-1) &ndas Working forwardly for debut; dam was 9-41 and a second-out winner.
Race Summary CYAWOULDNTWANABEYA ‘ran on’ from post 12 to finish third, behind a next-out maiden breaker at Keeneland in a debut sprint, then she vied for the lead for 6F before tiring in a fast one-mile follow-up at Churchill Downs. The $800,000 sales buy could graduate today for a barn in the midst of a 5-for-15 route-to-sprint run. Bet to win and place and play a 2/1, 5, 8/1, 5, 7,8 trifecta.
          Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #4
#3 BAJAN SUN (6-1) – Took the money and ran away to win, gets the class test right away.
#1 MASTER MULE (5-1) – Won geared down with Lasix, earned big number in seasonal debut.
#4 GETTYSBURG ADDRESS (9-2) &n Idle since September win for high-percentage claim barn.
Race Summary BAJAN SUN lived up to debut favoritism, overcoming a bumpy start and drawing away at the quarter pole en route to a 6-length victory. The 5-year-old takes a big step up in class but might be this good. Bet to win and place and play a 1-3-4 exacta box.
